Episode 105 – Evacuation
Location: Starbase 400 and Various Ships
Timeline: MD1 - 0020hrs
ON:
As the evacuation continues...
Science Lab One
Coleman had just received an inventory from Danielle on his team with a list of experiments from the various departments within the science division that needed to be transferred over to the Endeavour.
Flipping through the list of the various types, some were easy to move, while others were rather hard. The Astrophysics department was working on an experiment with stellar phenomenon that was easy to move, but the biochemistry department was working on several biological experiments with the medical teams and thus, had to be handled with care.
Tapping his combadge, Coleman said, "Mr. Matthews, can you come to Science Lab One, please? And bring a PADD and some biological containers. We've got some work to do."
Davik was finishing the packing of some samples in Science Lab 5 when he received the comm, "Understood, commander. I have just finished storing what was left in Science Lab 5 after the equipment failures we previously encountered."
"Well, once you get done in Science Lab 5, can you make your way up to Science Lab 1? I've got some inventories that I need help with," Coleman said, looking through his own inventories.
Davik nodded, "Very well, sir." He grabbed the PADD he'd been using for inventories and made his way to the storage area. Once there he took a cargo skiff and loaded up various sized biological containment units and made his way to Science Lab 1.
After a short trip, he arrived, and greeted Coleman, "Commander."
"Oh, good. Mister Matthews, how is the repairs of the various equipment from the issues that we had beforehand?" Coleman asked, turning around to face him and offered a soft smile.
Matthews moved to the containment shelves next to the ones that Coleman were packing up and began to do the same. "Repairs are nearly complete. I was informed by engineering personnel that they've had to replace the entire EPS grid for the science lab."
"Good. Very good! So, have you heard that we are abandoning the station, correct?" Coleman asked, making sure that Matthews heard the message from the Admiral.
Davik nodded, "I have, indeed, heard the message. Science Lab 5's viable samples have already been transferred to the Endeavour. I had some enlisted personnel transfer the more unstable samples via cargo skiffs."
"Well, we need to get all of our experiments onto the Endeavour. The cargo transporters in Cargo Bay 15 have been set up to transport biological samples and experiments over to the ship. We have about two hours to get everything over there, understood?" Coleman said, not allowing for much other than that.
Davik entered some commands on his PADD, "Absolutely, commander."
Coleman nodded and said, "Let's get to it Mr. Matthews. War waits for no man!"
Starbase 400, Ops
"They've dropped out of warp at the edge of the Kaleb system." Draven reported.
"I have Marines sweeping all decks now to make sure the station is clear." Lennox said.
"Get to the Kearsarge, be ready to beam the Marines aboard." Mike said.
"Captain Dow said those last minute transports Coleman's brother sent us, they were able to get everyone off the planet that wanted to go." Roebuck said.
"Thank you Jonathan." Mike said to no one present.
USS Mercy
Ariana sat in the XO's seat tapping her hand absentmindedly on her leg. Even with her inhibitor working at a level she could manage she could still sense a high level of emotion and people were scared.
Hades entered the bridge. He'd taken some time to rest and gather his thoughts. He'd also made a point of speaking with Nivar. Fal was a problem and Hades would ensure he would leave as soon as this was done. He looked at Ariana. "Are you alright?" He put his own thoughts behind him and focused on the bridge.
Ariana looked at her lap and sighed. "Sorry Commander, it's hard not to react to the level of emotion that I'm sensing."
"Try to close your emptions off a little more. If you adjust the inhibitor to level two it will help."
Ariana nodded, she hated having the inhibitor at higher levels but right now she had little choice. She took a few seconds to adjust the inhibitor up to level 2, feeling better for having done it. She smiled and nodded to Hades.
Down in Sickbay Freya was sitting with Kaden but she was finding the emotional input powerful enough to give her a headache. She lay her head down next to Kaden but it didn't help a lot.
Kaden was in the middle of reading one of his Captain Federation comics when he felt his wife lay her head down on him. Sensing she seemed uncomfortable he set his comic down and gently ran his fingers thru her raven black hair. "Hey, babe, are you okay?" He asked.
"Mmm?" She lifted her head and looked at him. "Sorry, just one hell of a headache! Think I'll ask Doctor Corrigan if she's got anything I can take." She offered Kaden a smile as she got up and walked over to Carolyn. "Excuse me ... I was just wondering if you've got anything I can have for a headache? The emotional input is proving pretty hard to block."
“... have Doctor Reid confirm,” Doctor Corrigan said as she signed off on the medical file and handed it back to the waiting nurse. “And can we get the cadets to focus on storing away these supplies before someone hurts themselves?”
Turning to Freya she frowned, “sorry... headache. Okay, let’s find somewhere a little quieter and we can check you over and give you something to help. Ashleigh, can you ask Mendez to start pre-op? Thank you. Okay, follow me...”
Flashing Freya an equally apologetic and reassuring smile, Carolyn guided Freya into a small room not far from where Kaden was resting. “Lie back on the bed and I will check your vitals,” she urged. “I want to be sure your headache is just that, a headache. Any other issues? Any concerns - other than your husband being hurt that is...”
Freya shook her head. “No other issues, it’s just all the high emotions.” She kept her hands on her head whilst using her fingers massage her temples. “The downside of being born with abilities, there are times the input can be ... unbearable!” She looked and felt drained.
“Well, this should help,” Carolyn assured her as she administered a hypo, “but you also need rest. If you don’t want to sleep right here, I can have one of the cadets set up a cot near Kaden? I’d suggest camping out in the doctors lounge, but you cannot move in there either.”
Freya smiled. “Feel free to set me up next to Kaden, I don’t mind sharing his bed though if it’s easier. We normally snuggle up anyway.” She grinned.
“Absolutely not,” Carolyn replied firmly, slightly harsher than she meant. It wasn’t Freya’s fault that everything had gone to hell. “We will set up a cot as soon as we can.”
“Fair enough” Freya nodded. “I’ll head back to Kaden and wait for the cot to be set up.” She nodded and left Carolyn to her work.
Olivia had planned to board the Kearsarge with the rest of the marines but with her twins in tow she couldn't board a ship that might have to head into danger, instead she boarded the Mercy with the rest of the medical contingent. She was part of the counselling staff too. She settled herself and the twins into enlisted quarters, so as not to take up space that might needed bunks would be fine for her and the twins. She made sure she updated their location on the computer so that she and the twins were accounted for on the evac lists. Now all she could do was look after the twins and wait.
Starbase 400, Ops
Mike then tapped his comm-badge, "Bremer to all ships you know your assignments. Seventh Fleet ships, get those civilians clear. Starbase 400 ships, Tirpitz, Cutlass, Warspite, Dorsetshire, Conqueror, Crockett, Ranger, Kashin, Thresher, Ark Royal, Constantinople, Princeton, Mercy, Endeavour, Venator, Sutherland, protect the transports with the crew and get them to DS6. Pegasus, Essex, Yourktown, Luna, Lexington, Vanguard, Falcon, Avenger, Juno, Kearsarge, Steadfast will help defend the last transports as they load then we’ll fall back to Starbase 23. Stay behind the Station as best you can. That fleet out there outnumbers us by nearly twenty-to-one and we can’t afford to lose any ship!”
“Admiral, Captain Dow reports from the USS Reprisal, their last transports are away. Governor Agard decided to remain behind with nearly twenty thousand people that chose to stay.” Roebuck reported.
“Damnit.” Mike said.
“Mike, it’s ready.” Draven said.
Mike smirked, “Good.”
“Here they come.” Roebuck added.
The first wave of Typhon Pact ships approached Starbase 400. Most were smaller ships, trying to draw fire as the larger battleships and warbirds moved in. Several Miradorn raiders and Order fighters strafed Starbase 400 while Romulan Shrike type birds of prey and Krazzle destroyers moved in and opened fire as well.
Starbase 400’s weapons came to life as auto-firing phaser arrays lanced out beams of energy as the enemy ships. Photon and Quantum torpedoes burst from their launchers toward the larger Gorn and Krazzle cruisers as well as Valdore type warbirds as they approached.
“Shields holding at ninety-percent, however once those Krazzle Dreadnoughts and big Warbirds start shooting that’ll change.” Roebuck added.
“Shields around the Habitat Sections, H1 and H2 are taking the most fire and are down to seventy-one percent. We never had time to replace all of the shield emitters down there.” Archer reported.
Then, the big ships came in range and opened fire. One Krazzle ship fired on Ops itself, sending everyone to the deck, but shields held. The rest of the first wave targeted the Habitat levels too hoping to break through the shields.
All the while, Starbase 400 was getting her licks in two, nearly fifty enemy ships had been destroyed and several more were damaged and burning.
Starbase 400, Section H1, Level 799
Gunnery Sergeant Ermey and Corporal Schmidt had been sweeping the area when the battle started. Both men had been thrown to the deck after the last hit and a fire had broken out down the corridor.
“I’m getting too old for this shit.” Ermey said as he stood.
“The deck is clear, that’s all the levels we were assigned.” Schmidt replied.
Ermey tapped his comm-badge. “Ermey to Ellis, did you finish sweeping the Sick Bay levels?” There was no answer. “Sergeant Ellis!” There was still no answer.
The Starbase was hit again and down Ermey and Schmidt went. Schmidt tapped his comm-badge was Emery looked at a broken arm he now had, “Schmidt to Kearsarge, two the beam over.” A moment later both men were transported away.
The sickbay, devoid of all life was quiet. Hades had left one EMH functioning. "Please state the nature of the medical emergency," the doctor said looking around confused.
Starbase 400, Ops
“Their ships are trying to get in behind us now, I guess they realized a frontal assault wouldn’t work.” Roebuck reported.
“Keep up the weapons fire, we need to make sure the Station is clear.” Mike said, “I’m not leaving anyone behind!”
Aboard Tenaran (Vox's ship)
With 346 civilians now aboard his ship, the most crowded it had been for a very long time. The last was a party he held and that only have 50 guests, the ship had launched in the nick of time as the first wave of Typone Pack ships came in. With the AI of his ship on full alert, it didn't take long for the shields to go up with extra power from none essential systems. The basic plasma cannons were armed but it was hoped they wouldn't need to use them.
Vox plotted the course for Rigel and pushed the ship to maximum impulse to get a good distance from the Starbase before going maximum warp. The ship did get a few hits from stray weapons fire which made her shake a fair bit. He taps the coms panel, as the ship shook again.
=^= Ladies and Gentlemen, Try to remain calm. I am doing all I can to get out of harm's way and shortly we will get underway to Rigel and meet with the rest of the fleet. Thanks. =^=
Within a few moments, Vox got a chance and took it. He hits the console and the ship jumped to warp 6, bound for Rigel.
Andora, who could never sit still, found her way to the bridge of the ship. She saw the Trill man concentrating hard. She was scared and with no friends and family, she approached. "Can I stay up here?"
Vox noticed the young woman. "Sure, please take a seat," he said motioning her to the one nearest to him. As the ship was at warp, the stars were streaming passed the viewing windows at the front of the bridge, with the occasional streak of colour. Once he had things the way he wanted, he turned to the young lady, who had now taken a seat.
"I am Rae, what's your name?" He asked.
"Andora." Said the Risian. "I couldn't sit still. This is the second home I've lost."
"Second?" He asked "I'd like to think things will work out. This ship has always been my second home." He added.
She smiled, "Yes. But the station has been mine since I came from Risa. Now to leave it like this....
"I understand. Not much any of us can do. We have to stick together and work together. My home is your home as long as you need it." Vox replied
Dakota (Wayne's ship)
As the Dakota left the docking nay her shields at full power and her weapon systems such as they were, were charged though 2 type 6 phaser arrays would not do much in this kind of fight. He opened the comm link to the rest of the ship.
=^= Hello everyone please keep calm and we will get through this we have one of the best fleets in the federation around us and we will get to our safe haven. I am sure your scared and worried for loved ones either out in the fleet or still on the station, the best we can do for them is to survive this so we can meet them again at our destination. Now I know this is not what you want to hear but this is an old ship and I have never had this many people on her. I will need help. anyone with engineering experience and medical experience please come to the bridge. There is a lounge as well and we do have some booze so if there is anyone who wants to be a bartender here is your shot.=^=
USS Yorktown, Bridge
"Bring us to 215 mark 37, full impulse." K'Temoc ordered. The small Defiant class ship turned and feel in behind a Romulan Shrike. The Romulan ship was quickly vaporized by the Yorktown's pulse phasers.
"Admiral, we have a problem. One of our phaser banks is loosing power." Harper reported.
"It's a power relay. It was on your damage report following the RDB8 attack, but we haven't had time to repair it." Lieutenant Heron reported from the Bridge's Engineering station. "I'm trying to divert power, but I think we need to take it offline before the relay goes and we lose both port side phaser banks."
"Do it." K'Temoc said at the Yorktown took another hit.
USS Vanguard, Bridge
"Are you okay Lieutenant?" Patel asked the Kelpien science officer.
Tenu nodded. "Just burns to my hands, but my console is offline."
"I have a medic on the way." Patel replied.
The Prometheus class ship took another hit.
"Bring us about Lieutenant, we don't want to stray too far from the rest of the ships and the starbase, yet." Mac ordered.
USS Essex
No sooner did T'Lar board her ship, they were in a fire fight. That many enemy ships would make anyone want to retreat but the threat of them losing their home made her crew want to fight more. They took down their fair share of ships.
The Essex was now taking fire from the bigger ships. The harder the enemy hit the Essex, Lt. Henshaw hit them harder. Deela could hear him curse under his breath.
"Lt. Henshaw, you are doing a great job. Keep it up." She could sense his frustration every time the enemy ship got to the base.
USS Ark Royal
Jack sat in the centre of the Bridge as he heard the comm message come through from Bremer:
"Bremer to all ships you know your assignments.
He nodded as he turned to face both the Ops and Conn stations before him. Once more, he had Lieutenant Taloris and Lieutenant Raven as his front of house "Ladies, you heard the Admiral, we have transports to protect. Lets move out," he ordered before sitting back in his seat.
As the Ambassador Class Starship made her way towards the transports assigned for Deep Space Six, It was clear that the firefight was not going well for the station. However as they made their way towards the transport ships, Jack walked over to the Tactical station, where Ensign Raith was manning the position.
"Ensign, I want to be clear, we take no offensive posture until the enemy try to attack those transports ships, then you give them what for, but co-ordinate along with the other starships in the protections fleet," he explained.
"Understood sir, there are a lot of ships out there attacking the starbase... surely one more wouldn't hurt?" Raith offered. Jack smiled.
"It's a lovely idea, but we have orders to follow and those civilians need our help, so let's keep our focus on doing the job we've been ordered to do," he reassured the young tactical officer. "Besides, that starbase has seen worse and will still be there when we return home, have no fear of that."
Raith nodded as Jack returned to stand behind the Conn and Ops positions. Taloris reported that they were in position as the transport ships came into view.
USS Pegasus, Bridge
The Pegasus shook from a hit, then another.
“What the hell was that? We’re not in range of any big ships right now.” Branson said from Flight Control.
Ramata’tar looked up from the Tactical Station as he tapped in a few commands, “It will not bother us anymore.”
Starbase 400, Ops
“Looks like the Romulans have a new heavy fighter design.” Bremer commented. “A lot different that their Scorpions. Looks like a…snake head.” Mike couldn’t help but to smirk. “Tell Colonel McDaniel and Major Maxwell to look out for those damn things.”
USS Yorktown, Bridge
“Their firepower is more than double that of the Scorpion Attack Flyers.” Harper commented.
K’Temoc looked at the sensor images and readout of the new fighter. “Looks like someone cut the head off a snake.”
“It fits, the Romulans act like serpents, treacherous bastards.” Harper added.
USS Lexington, Bridge
“That’s it, we’ve got everything from R&D and all assigned passengers.” Wayne reported from the XO’s seat.
“Helm, get us moving faster, let’s see if we can cause a little fuss.” Start said.
The Sovereign class USS Lexington sped up, and while keeping close to the station she opened fire on the attacking ships.
Starbase 400, Ops
“I’m picking up a dozen ships inbound, Federation ships lead by the New Hampshire and Ajax. Their group includes mostly Miranda and Excelsior class vessels.” Roebuck reported.
Draven looked at the sensors, one of the Excelsior class ships caught his eye, the USS Longfellow.
“Nice timing. Ask them to help cover our support ships as they finish loading the last of our personnel.” Mike said. “Lek.”
“Yeah, yeah, on it. Message sent.” Draven replied.
181st Wing, Second Section:
"Okay boys and girls." Ed called over the radio to his half of the Wing. "400 Ops says these new Romulan birds pack a hefty punch. Everyone pair off and for the love of the gods don't get separated from your wing-man. It's gonna be a brawl out there." He reminded his pilots. A fight this big, it was going to be far too easy to get separated and that mean you were isolated. Being isolated meant you got dead in a hurry.
"Biggest damn furball I've seen in my career." He muttered to himself as he keyed the mic again. "We're gonna need the bombers on those capital ships ASAP people. Gamma, you've got the Argonauts, Sierra cover the Gladiators. Let's go show these jerks what the One Eight One is made of."
USS Ajax, Bridge:
Lieutenant Commander Jason Tigan shook his head at what he was seeing on the sensors and on the view screen. He'd never seen so many ships in one place. With another shake of his head in mild astonishment, Tigan acknowledged the orders from 400's Ops as he sat down.
"Cummins, you've got full discretion on maneuvers, but coordinate them with Anna." He said to his helmsman before turning to look over his shoulder at the Petty Officer manning Science. "Ward, flip the switch on your modified jammer. And Anna, load quantum's forward and hellfire's aft. Then find me the biggest ship we can square off with that's not a total suicide run and bloody it's nose!" He ordered tapping the comms button on the arm of his chair. "Bree," He announced to his Chief Engineer, "gimme everything you can squeeze out of the core. Kill all non essentials and reroute it to shields and weapons. Then strap in, it's gonna be a rough ride."
Starbase 400, Ops
"Looks like their second wave is coming in. Starbase shields are down to sixty percent, ten percent around the Habitat Section. If they cut through, we'll be boarded." Roebuck reported.
"Give the final evacuation order, let's get all the Marines beamed out and anyone else that's here." Bremer said.
"We should be mostly clear, I'm not picking up anyone except the Marine patrols and us." Roebuck added.
Ops shook from a hit, then another and another.
"Shields around Ops are down to forty-one percent and buckling. There's also two Krazzle Dreadnoughts and a Scmitar type Warbird coming in, targeting the Administration Levels." Roebuck said. "I'm concentrating weapons fire on them."
Mike tapped his comm-badge, "Bremer to Pegasus, beam us aboard in one minute."
Mike walked over to the Operations station and typed in several commands.
"Program Bremer-Alpha-Two-Five ready." The computer replied.
"Computer, initiate program Bremer-Alpha-Two-Five." Mike said.
"Confirmed." The computer replied a moment before the men were beamed out of Ops and onto the Pegasus.
Aboard the Station there was a brief silence before the holographic interface in the middle of Ops exploded. Seconds later all of the consoles in Ops also overloaded as sparks showered the room. The program blew out power relays all over the station. Life support went offline, soon followed by communications. Next the computer cores shorted out as all data was erased. The only system still operational were the station's weapons and their targeting sensors as they auto-fired on the Typhon Pact ships.
The overwhelming weapons fire from Starbase 400 destroyed one of the massive Krazzle Tigris Dreadnoughts while the other continued to rain fire on the starbase.
USS Pegasus, Bridge
Once aboard the Pegasus, Mike tapped the comm button on the left chair arm panel, “Pegasus to all ships, fall back to Starbase 23. Warp seven.”
The Pegasus started to turn as the Lexington and Vanguard streaked by. The Yorktown made a run on a Gorn cruiser getting too close to Vox’s and Wayne’s ships and blew it up with pulse phasers and quantum torpedoes before also turning.
Another Gorn ship came charging at the Federation ships and the USS Longfellow moved up to fire on it. Meanwhile the Scimitar type Warbird Tomal moved up and opened fire on the fleeing Federation shps, quickly destroying two Miranda class vessels that had come to help.
Continuing her turn, the Pegasus opened fire on the ship that had claimed her destruction hours before. Her phasers, hellfire and quantum torpedoes, pulse phasers and phaser cannon worked in concert. It took several moments, but the relentless fire ripped one of the wings off of the Tomal. The New Hampshire moved up and also opened fire on the bigger Scimitar type Warbird too. The phaser cannon beams from the Pegasus and New Hampshire converged near the bridge of the Tomal and the ferocious energy ripped into the big ship causing it to explode in a brilliant fireball.
As the Pegasus turned away the USS Longfellow started taking heavy hits from the enemy fleet and was soon burning.
“Mike, Ann is on that ship!” Draven said when he saw the sensors.
“Chief, bring us about, emergency turn to port. Get us within transporter range then get us the hell out of here.” Bremer said.
The Pegasus charged forward, passed the burning and drifting USS Longfellow then sped away with the rest of the Federation ships.
Lek left the Bridge and hurried to Sickbay. There is found Ann. She had a burn on an arm, cut on her shoulder, and soot on her face. Draven stood there for a moment looking at her before she turned around.
Even in a time of a galactic war, an estranged husband and wife found each other and shared a warm embrace, happy each other was still alive.
SS Dakota
Cameron heard the order and quickly had the course and speed laid in. His only hope was that the old lady held togather he had not had to push the engines as hard as warp 7 for a long time. But he would be damned if he did not give it everything he had. "O'Malley get down to the engine room and watch the core if you need to shunt power from weapons and the holodecks to boost the field intagerity." Said Cameron as he finished locking in the course and hit the engage command sending the Dakota toward SB 23 and hopefully safty
USS Endeavour
Coleman was standing on the Bridge of the Endeavour and had ordered the helmsman to follow in with the rest of the ships defending the transports.
Coleman's brother, Jonathan, had helped in getting some of the transports in to evacuate the people off the station and the nearby Federation planets. He was glad to see his brother again, as he was on one of the transport that were helping to take some of the ships. However, he knew that also put in some danger. But, once he heard that Jonathan had made it to DS6 with a number of colonist and Federation civilians, he said a silent prayer for him.
Coming out of a thought, he heard one of the back entrances to the Bridge open and saw that Mr. Matthews was walking in. Telling the person at Conn to keep us with the rest of the fleet and to alert him if there was any sort of change, Coleman walked over to Matthews to get an update.
"So, were we able to get all of our experiments off the starbase before we had to head out?" Coleman asked, walking up alongside Matthews as they talked.
Davik nodded, "Yes, it was, as most humans like to say, down to the wire. But, we were able to recover all of the specimens."
Nodding his head, Coleman said, "Alright, good. We've also been ordered to help defend some of the transports heading to DS6. We might be getting into some pickles, so I'm going to need all hands on deck. We might also need to check in with Mr. Solomon and see about changing some base code in our little virus for the Typhon Pact. I just want to have everything possible to defeat them, since it looks like we are going to war."
Davik sat at an auxiliary console as he replied, "Understood. I will attempt to ensure that our star in the pickles is limited." He turned to the console and entered commands to open a secure channel to Commander Solomon.
Once the channel was established, he said, "Davik to Solomon. I have made adjustments to the base code of the communications virus that was used to infect the Typhon Pact ships." He paused as he rotated the encryption algorithms randomly, "I have adjusted the code to cleanse itself, and all traces of itself, from the computers of the enemy vessels. I would appreciate a quick review from yourself, to ensure the changes are completely accurate. I am not a programming expert."
Coleman went back to his own command chair and watched as his crew worked tirelessly together, in order to make sure the Typhoon Pact wouldn't hurt the convey and it was truly amazing to watch.
181st Wing, Second Section:
Hearing the order for the fleet to depart, Ed ordered his pilots to break off their attacks and fall back to the Kearsage. The last thing he wanted was to have any of his pilots left behind, and yes he did still consider them HIS pilots. He'd been there CO before his 'promotion' to command of the flight school, and now he was back again, albeit as XO again but these things tended to happen and would likely work itself out sooner or later.
No sooner did Ed think he was in the clear than he felt the explosion that shredded the right side of his fighter. Instinctively he cut back on his left thruster and shoved the right control pedal to the floor of the cockpit to try and maintain control of his bird, but it was useless. There were no control surfaces or thrusters left on that side to respond to his manipulations.
He saw the flash of the plasma fire igniting just as he punched the emergency transport button on his control panel to beam him back to the Kearsage, but nothing happened. His emergency transporter had been taken offline by the explosion. Was this how it ended? Killed by a wash of plasma fire that would engulf his cockpit at any second?
"Mayday, this is Reaper! My E.T is offline and I'm burning plasma. I need a beam..," the rest of his transmission turned into a combination of screaming and cursing as the plasma fire did indeed engulf the right hand side of his cockpit. He was conscious only another moment before he passed out from the pain. As everything turned to black he made his peace with dying, after all what the hell did he have left to live for? Unbeknownst to him, a ship did in fact, beam him out just before his fighter exploded around him.
USS Mercy
"Lieutenant did we get him?" Ariana looked at Jones, who was manning Ops.
"We got him Commander!" Came Jones' relieved response. "He's in Sickbay now."
Ariana smiled and breathed a sigh of relief, she wasn't going to lose anyone today if she could help it. "Great work Lieutenant."
USS Ajax, Bridge:
"Do we beam him aboard?" Came the quiet question from his fiance at Tactical.
"Mercy or someone will get the pilot, we've got our orders." Tigan shook his head. "Besides, we don't have the facilities to take care of the extended treatment he's gonna need and we're not going with the fleet. Break off from the attack and prepare to engage the cloak Anna." He ordered, albeit with some minor difficulty. As much as he wanted to help the pilot in that fighter, what he said was true. The treatment he would need if he survived, they couldn't provide.
"Cummins, take us through the debris field to shake off any tails we may have. Once Anna engages the cloak, take us into the atmosphere over the pole to scramble any sensors looking for us and let's find somewhere to set up shop. We've gotta keep an eye on things here and report in when we can."
OFF:
