Physical Description | Carolyn has a slender frame, and while far from muscular she is physically fit. She has a naturally pale complexion, which combined with physique, gives an impression of frailty. She has piercing blue eyes and long brown hair normally pulled into some form of messy ponytail unless she is on duty when it is in a more intricate braid. When overtired she has a faint but noticeable limp due to a recent severe injury and still has scars on her back and legs. Tends to ensure these are concealed when in public. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview | Carolyn is much more reserved than she used to be. While remaining friendly and approachable, especially to her patients, she is reserved when it comes to opening up about herself to others. She takes a daily run in order to stay fit and to help her focus, and will occasionally lock herself in a holodeck with just an old piano for company. Born with an eidetic memory, academic studies have come easily to her although she is the first to admit it is often more of a curse than a blessing. | |
Strengths & Weaknesses | Methodical, logical thinker. This has allowed her to excel in the field of diagnostic medicine. Calm in a crisis. Willing to do what it takes for her patients. Eidetic memory Weaknesses: Private, does not make close friends easily. Stubborn. At times does not recognise when to stop. Does not ask for help |

Hobbies & Interests | Playing the piano, running and swimming are her favourite ways to escape and clear her mind. Her grandfather also left her his original paperback copy of Sherlock Holmes which she will read repeatedly. |
Personal History | Carolyn is something of a lost soul. Just over a year ago she was career driven, focused on enhancing the reputation she had built for herself since graduating from the Academy. The youngest of three children, she was the only one to follow her parents into the field of medicine but she chose to follow her brother by applying to Starfleet. She excelled at the Academy as she had with everything else she had attempted in the past, although her instructors focused more on her interpersonal skills than academic. With a photographic memory and able to recall facts at will, they recognised her biggest challenge would be coping with the experience that lay beyond the Academy and in the great unknown. Carolyn found herself drawn to diagnostic medicine, intrigued by the puzzle of an undiagnosed ailment or infection. After an internship within a critical care unit of Starfleet Medical, however, she decided to focus upon emergency and critical care. Upon graduation she served aboard the USS Rhode Island, where she became an invaluable member of the team. While on the medical ship, she was able to hone her skills further and also learn from her colleagues. During a mission to assist with a suspected viral outbreak, Carolyn was part of a support team assigned to provide assistance on the ground. Within minutes of entering the atmosphere the shuttle was shot down, with the pilot killed in the crash. Of those who survived they found themselves captured, cut off from the ship and at the hands of a rogue faction of colonists who believed the outbreak was the work of a Federation conspiracy. Fuelled by paranoia and hate, the hours that followed led to the deaths of two of her crewmates and left Carolyn fighting for her own life and facing months of rehabilitation. While there were the occasional set backs, some due to what her counsellor documented as self destructive episodes, Carolyn was able to return to duty. At the suggestion of her friends and family, she applied for a transfer so she could make a fresh start. |
