Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Dominion Outpost, Iconia
Timeline: Following 'Ground Assault'
ON:
Bremer and his team approached the area were the Defiant's sensors couldn't scan...
They tried to scan the room again, but the damping field was still operational.
Bremer tapped his comm-badge, “Bremer to Hurd. Do you have anyone inside or close to the Command Center still?”
Tapping his comm-badge, Major Hurd replied, ''Yes sir, I do.''
“Good, have them deactivate the damping field down here. Bremer out.” Mike closed the comm, then looked at an Ensign scanning with her tricorder.
“Damping field is down Admiral.” She said after a few moments. Bremer, K’Temoc, and K’Wor formed up around the Ensign and looked over the scans…
“There’s Humans in there!” K’Wor blurted out.
“POWs from the war…still being held?” K’Temoc asked.
“Humans, Andorians, Betazoids, Bolians, Vulcans, Romulans, Klingons, even a few Bajorians, Deltans, Tellarits, and Denobulans…over two-hundred of them and about twenty Jem Hadar.” Bremer observed.
“I have an idea. I can take my Security Team around to this access way, we can catch them in a cross-fire.” K’Wor suggested.
Mike looked at his son. Like any father, he didn’t want to put him into harm’s way, but he also knew it would be a benefit to attack from two different directions. “All right. Ramata’tar, go with Ensign K’Wor’s team. K’Temoc, Varn, and myself will create a diversion. Once you hear weapons fire, make your assault.
“Keep an eye out for the POWs, we don’t want to hit any while we’re trying to rescue them.” K’Temoc added.
Ramata’tar, K’Wor and his team turned to circle around, but Lieutenant JG Mays turned back to Admiral for a moment.
“I’ll watch his back sir.” Mays then double-timed it to catch up with the rest of the team.
Mike waited a few minutes to give K’Wor’s Team time to get into position, and then he, K’Temoc, and Varn raised their rifles and readied themselves.
Bremer nodded to Varn to open the door. The Klingon tapped the door pad and it slide open. The three men burst through the opening, rifles firing. They dropped four Jem Hadar with their first volley. However the Jem Hadar quickly reacted and returned fire. Varn was hit in the left leg and dropped to the deck. Bremer and K’Temoc pulled him behind cover. As they stood to fire, K’Wor, Ramata’tar, and the rest of the Security team came through the door behind the Jem Hadar. They quickly took out another eight before the rest turned to fire at them.
That’s when Bremer and K’Temoc raised up and opened fire again, and the cross fire was on. Pulses of partial energy flew back and forth across the room. Two of the Security Officers fell, but so did more Jem Hadar.
One Jem Hadar took aim at K’Wor, but as the pulse came toward him, K’Wor was pushed down to the deck by Mays. As Mays rose up to a knee, K’Wor returned fire as he moved to another position to provide cover fire.
Bremer saw one of the defending Jem Hadar jump from behind cover and tackle Ramata’tar. He glanced back at K’Temoc, “Cover Varn.”
Bremer stealthy made his way around toward Ramata’tar. His warrior instincts were coming back into their own finally after so long ‘behind a desk’. As he reached the two Jem Hadar fighting, Bremer saw the Ramata’tar stumble from a heavy blow to the head. The defending Jem Hadar pulled his knife and slash deep wounds into Ramata’tar’s upper arms, then he went to stab Ramata’tar in the chest, but Bremer grabbed his forearm and forced his arm back.
As the defender regained his balance, he stood up tall. “I am First Ikat'ika.”
Bremer stood between Ikat’ika and Ramata’tar, “Mike K’Wor Bremer, Son of ma’gh.” Bremer drew his mek’leth.
Ikat’ika thrust forward with his knife and Bremer jumped back to avoid the blade. In a counter move, he swung his mek’leth diagonally up and then to the left. Ikat’ika leaned back then ducked to avoid the blade. The Jem Hadar countered by swinging his blade back up. Bremer deflected it with his mek’leth and the sound of metal clanging together echoed throughout.
At the same time, several of the POWs came out of the small barracks they had been confined to by the Jem Hadar when the attack began. Many of them rushed the remaining Jem Hadar. A few were shot, but most attacked the captors, hitting and kicking them…taking out years of anger, pain, and frustrations.
K’Temoc called out to the team to stand down…the Jem Hadar defenders all laid dead, all except Ikat’ika. He knew Mike’s honor was at stake, he and Ikat’ika were in personal combat and he wasn’t going to interrupt it…no matter the outcome. The remaining Security Officers raised their rifles at the last Jem Hadar, but K’Temoc told them to stand down and instead guard the doorways.
K’Temoc tapped his comm-badge, “K’Temoc to Pegasus. Alex, we’ve located over two hundred POWs down here, all need medical attention. We also have wounded. Inform the Essex and Sutherland and start beaming them up. Also, send a message to DS6, ask them to dispatch the Medical Ship Mercy.”
"Will do." She didn't wait for him to close the channel. "Harrison to Sickbay. The ground team has found over two hundred POWs. Coordinate with the other ships and begin beaming up the injured. I'll be sending a message to DS6 to dispatch the Medical Ship Mercy to help with the wounded."
"Right away Captain." Dr. Mclintock didn't waste any time. She began beaming the wounded up as soon as she contacted the accompanying ships.
Alex followed her conversation with a call to DS6.
Essex, Bridge
Dr. Mclintock contacted the Essex along with the other ships. After finding out the reason, the transmission was rerouted to Sickbay.
The POWs began to be beamed up to the ship. Sickbay was busy. Another room had to be prepared for the injured. T'Lar had everyone on the ship who had any kind of medical training to report to sickbay.
Outpost
K’Temoc tapped his comm-badge again to close the channel as he continued to watch his Brother. K’Wor had walked over to him and watched as well.
Ikat’ika grabbed Bremer’s arm as he slashed with his mek’leth. He went to jab his own blade into Bremer’s arm, but Bremer returned the favor and grabbed Ikat’ika’s arm. Locking each other up, they turned and stumbled trying to gain an advantage. After a moment, Bremer slammed Ikat’ika’s arm against the back bulkhead and dislodged the knife.
Ikat’ika, turned Bremer around and powered him back against the bulkhead, slamming his head against the metal wall. Bremer shook his head for a moment, then leaned in and head-butted the Jem Hadar. Ikat’ika stumbled back and Bremer took a swing with his mek’leth, cutting the Jem Hadar across the chest. As Bremer swung again, Ikat’ika blocked the blow with his forearm against Bremer’s. He then grabbed the mek’leth by the blade, placed his foot against Bremer’s midsection and pushed off. The mek’leth flew out of Bremer’s hand as he again was slammed into the bulkhead.
Ikat’ika leaped forward, but Bremer regained his balance quickly. He side-stepped the attack, grabbing the Jem Hadar by the shoulder and forcing him into the bulkhead, head first. As Ikat’ika turned around, Bremer back-handed him with a double-handed fist. The Jem Hadar First stumbled from the impact. He was clearly hurt, but he wasn’t finished, as Bremer drew back to punch him again, he quickly leaped forward and tackled Bremer. Ikat’ika grabbed Bremer by the shoulders and slammed his head back against the deck again before Bremer kicked him off. Ikat’ika flipped over onto his back. As he rolled, his hand found the knife he’d dropped. Jumping to his feet, he slashed up, cutting a deep gash into Bremer’s right leg. Mike lost his balance for a moment, just long enough for Ikat’ika to thrust up with the blade again, impaling it deep into Bremer’s side. Mike stumbled again as Ikat’ika stood up.
K’Temoc and K’Wor raised their rifles to fire at the Jem Hadar, but before they pressed the trigger, Ramata’tar pulled himself up to his knees and grabbed Ikat’ika’s arm, much the same way Bremer had protected him minutes before. Weak from his wounds, Ramata’tar didn’t have the strength to hold on. Ikat’ika pulled his arm away from Ramata’tar’s grip. “Victory is life!” He kicked Ramata’tar, then grabbed him by the shoulder and started to trust the blade toward his neck, but before he could complete the death blow, Bremer managed to climb to his feet. He grabbed Ikat’ika by the head and in one powerful move, twisted, snapping the Jem Hadar’s neck.
Ikat’ika’s lifeless body dropped to the deck. “Today is a good day to die.” Bremer said, and then also fell to the deck in a pool of his own blood.
K’Temoc and K’Wor rushed over. K’Wor slapped his comm-badge, “K’Wor to Pegasus, medical emergency, it’s my da…it’s the Admiral, one to beam directly to Sick-Bay!”
Once Dr. Mclintock heard that it was Admiral Bremer, she wasn't going to waste any time in beaming him up. He took priority over the POWs.
K’Wor and K’Temoc stepped back when Bremer was covered in a blueish light as he was beamed up to the Pegasus.
Kitty began to scan Bremer's stab site to see how serious his injuries were. She then noticed the deep leg wound. He had lost a good amount of blood.
Nurse Ashley tried to give Bremer a sedative, but he shook his head, “No...I need to stay awake.”
“You’ve lost a lot of blood.” Mclintock replied.
“Seal the wound…” Mike replied, but he was groggy.
Mclintock nodded her head at Ashley, “Alright, but we need to give you an antibiotic before infection sets in.”
Ashley walked back over and pressed the hypo to Bremer’s neck…
Mike suddenly felt sleepy, “I told you not to sedate me…”
“This is my Sick-Bay, my rules. It’s only a light one.” Doctor Mclintock replied as Nurse Ashley applied the hypo again, this time with the antibiotics.

K’Temoc knelt beside Ramata’tar. His wounds were serious too, he tapped his comm-badge. “K’Temoc to Pegasus, also beam up Ramata’tar, he has sever lacerations and a concussion, he needs medical treatment.”
Ramata’tar looked up at K’Temoc, “Allow me to die.”
“You fought with Honor, besides as your people say, ‘Victory is life’. This is a victory, so you keep your life.” K’Temoc replied as Ramata’tar was beamed up.
Pegasus, Sick-bay
Bremer’s vitals had stabilized. Mclintock scanned him with a Medical Tricorder. “We’ll have to use micro sutures before attempting dermal regeneration, just lay back and relax.” Kitty said with a smile as Doctor Brislan arrived to continue treating Mike. She then looked over at the big Jem Hadar Ramata’tar that had just arrived.
“Doctor Brislan will continue from here.” Mclintock said to Bremer as she turned and walked over to triage Ramata’tar…the Jem Hadar was actually being more cooperative than the Admiral!
Outpost
K’Wor looked around, only two of his Security Team were still alive. A wounded Security Officer was beaming up with Varn sogh to get medical aid. As he looked over to the side and saw Mays on the deck holding his chest.
K’Wor rushed over to his new friend, “Medic!” He knelt down behind Mays. “Help is on the way.
Mays tried to smile, “Nothing they can do kid…you know if you take one of those Jem Hadar rounds in the chest you’re a goner, that anti-coagulan…” Mays’s voice got quieter as he tried to talk. He grabbed K’Wor by the arm, “You did well again kid…sir.” Mays hand went limp as he eyes closed.
K’Wor sat on the deck beside Mays. It was bad enough during the Avenger’s mission to rescue Major Hurd having to deal with the loss of Adams, but now Mays too.
“It never gets easier.” K’Temoc said from behind K’Wor. K’Wor didn’t reply.
K’Temoc looked around, all of the POWs and wounded had been beamed up to the Pegasus, Essex, and Sutherland. “I want you to return to the Avenger. I’ll take them and link up with Major Hurd’s Marines.” K’Temoc pointed at the remaining two Security Crewmen. “Set a force-field emitter on the door over here, let’s make sure if there’s any other Jem Hadar shrouded and hiding that they can’t follow us.”
The Crewmen nodded and went to work as K’Wor stood up and picked up his rifle. “With all due respect, no sir. These bastards nearly killed my dad. They did kill Mays and many others, many good people.”
“Revenge?” K’Temoc asked.
“Payback.” K’Wor replied.
K’Temoc nodded, he knew it was something his nephew had to do. “All right, let’s go. He tapped his comm-badge as the four man group started to move, “K’Temoc to Major Hurd, we’re in route to your location now.”
As they left the POW holding area, the remaining dead Starfleet personnel were beamed up to their ships…
Essex, Bridge
The Essex got wind of Admiral Bremer's injuries as well as Ramata’tar, Hurd and Mays and others. She grew angry that there were once again injuries and death. Deela stood up and started to pace around the bridge, like she always did when she felt like she was going to explode.
Bridge of the Saratoga
Saith watched the action on the planet below with helplessness. The officers at their stations were making reports as developments happened. She looked at Captain Pike and shrugged, quietly she said to him, "A lot of people are dying down there, and for what? Some POWs no one remembers? I don't understand, in the Empire we would never have done this."
Lee nodded:"Not true Ensign, there are people out there that do remember those POW's. There are families out there that have sat and wondered about their loved ones."
She turned her attention back to her scans to see if there was anyway for the Saratoga to help, but for right now there did not seem to be a way. "Major Hurd's team is on target," she reported.

R'nard clicked his commbadge twice, responding in silent mode. Communications was a no-no at this moment, he didn't want to risk being intercepted.
He had his crew fanned out as they came to the R&D center. They would come in commando-style from every direction at once. They executed their way well, and R'nard made his way to the roof and found a way to get in. He dropped down in the center, as the other 30 came in from the sides. They were ordered to take no prisoners.
The Tralazar Master twirled, sending several throwing stars flying in many directions, as the others attacked from the perimeter.
The surprise attack worked, with minimal casualties. Those were beamed up directly. The R&D Center was secured, and they were able to recover the Iconian artifacts secured there, and beamed them up to the cargo bay of the Essex.
It was mop-up from there to the lower levels.
After the dampening field had been de-activated, Major Hurd turned and pointed to 5 of his most senior men present, and said, ''You 5, stay here and guard this place, no one gets in here, is that understood?'' ''Aye sir'', they said in unison, as Major Hurd turned to the rest of his team and said, ''Everyone else, on me, we have a fight to get too''.
A few moments later, Major Hurd's team began to hear the sound of weapon's fire. Major Hurd, his pace never ceasing, said in a loud voice, ''Set up a defensive perimeter and watch your cross-fire.'' As some of his Marines left to accomplish this, Major Hurd, being the Marine he was, charged head-first with the rest of his men into the fight. 3 more of his Marines were immediately cut down by Jem'Hadar weapons fire, as the Major himself was set upon by 2 Jem'Hadar soldiers.
Drowning out all other sounds, he zoned in on his two attackers.
He shot the first one, and before he could turn his weapon to engage the second, the Jem'Hadar yanked it out of his hand, kicking the Major to the ground in the process. Hurd yanked his combat knife out of his sheath, and jumped back to his feet, charging his attacker. As he fought hand to hand with the Jem'Hadar, he managed to stab him in the chest. As the life drained out of him, the solider somehow managed to summon up one last ounce of strength, and plunged his knife deep into the Major's Chest.
Major Hurd slumped against a wall, one hand over the heavily bleeding wound in his chest. In considerable pain, and in danger of bleeding out, The Major managed to yell ''Medic!'' as his vision started to dim.
Captain Lennox saw the Major fall and rushed over to his side along with a medic. “Hang in there Skipper.” Lennox turned to Gunnery Sergeant Ermey, “Gunney we need to seal this parameter!”
“Understood.” Ermey replied. He looked back at the rest of the squad, “You men move forward. There’s defilade to the right, take position there and lay down a base of fire.”
Lennox tapped his comm-badge, “Lennox to Sutherland, medical emergency, beam up Major Hurd, he had a sever knife wound to the chest!”
Ermey, “Corporals Schmidt and Nas, take the right flank, nothing gets though!”
USS Sutherland, Bridge
Andy Thought it a little and then said "What's the fun in getting up to flag level if you can't be with the marines"
He stood up and said "Lt Gallo... You have the conn..."
Holly just nodded and took up his position as he left the bridge. She knew that this was not the time to raise objections and to let him play out his emotions. If she didn't then he would be worse of a bear than if he came back wounded for some unforeseeable reason.
After that he signaled his security chief and proceeded with an away team to the Outpost, as they materialized on the ground he looked towards Marine Captain Lennox and said "Point me to the Jem Hadar. I need to do some killing..."
Lennox smirked, “Aye General. There’s about twenty in the corridor ahead. They are trying to push forward and retake the Command Center. We have a forward position here and here.” He pointed out the positions to Jones.
“Odo has already beamed up to the Defiant with Deyos, this is just mop up action sir.”
"Ok gentleman let's clean the house!!!" Answered Jones
Sutherland, Sick Bay
As Major Hurd materialized aboard the Sutherland, he was fighting hard to stay awake. As the Medical personnel attended to him, Major Hurd did something that he had never done before, and would later, if he survived, be ashamed of. He let out a scream of pain, both what he was in, and emotional, for the men he had lost, saying, with tears starting to pour down his face, ''GOD THIS HURTS!!''
"Stevens!" Tressa nearly shouted as a young doctor raced over with a fresh hypospray. She administered a heavy dose and watched the Major lose consciousness. He was quickly lifted onto a biobed.
"Incised wound, approximately 18 centimeters in depth, immediate surgery prep," Tressa said as the Major was moved out of triage. "We need a transfusion pre-surgery, his blood pressure is dropping."
"Doctor, we have a message from the Pegasus. They need medical support, Admiral Bremer has multiple wounds and they have taken on prisoners of war," the duty nurse said.
"We have the Major stabilized, I'll message you if anything changes," Doctor Stevens said. He followed the medical team and Major Hurd into the surgery suite.
She grabbed her kit and tapped her commbadge. <<"Brislan to Bridge, ready to transport to the Pegasus.">>
<< This is Lt. Gallo, Doctor, we're beaming you over now.>> Wounded and non-wounded alike they were all struggling to grip onto the situation and deal with it as it came. Holly had to shut her mind off to the thoughts in order to properly keep control of the Southerland.
Defiant, Mess Hall
Odo and Sisko, were seated at a table with the Vorta Deyos, two Security Officers stood close by.
“Order the Jem Hadar to stand down.” Sisko ordered.
“We are at war, I will not order the Jem Hadar to surrender.” Deyos replied smugly.
“We have already told you, the war is over, it ended thirteen years ago. This blood shed is senseless.” Odo replied.
“It is what the Founders wished.” Deyos replied.
Sisko tapped his comm-badge, “Sisko to Kira, Captain contact Starfleet Command. Tell them we need to speak to the Female Founder immediately.”
“Yes sir.” Kira replied over the comm.
Deyos looked at Odo for a few moments before Odo spoke up, “When the war ended, the Female Founder agreed to be charged and held for her part in the war and war crimes. She has been incarcerated since then.”
Saratoga, Bridge
Lee was watching things unfold as they happen and it was getting a bit crazy down there. Major Hurd had been wounding and beamed over to the Sutherland for treatment. Admiral Bremer had also been wounded.
He tapped his badge:"Captain Pike to Captain K'Temoc. Is everything going ok down there?"
“All objectives have been have been secured by Major Hurd’s Marines and Commander Lokran’s Security forces, however the remaining Jem Hadar down here are counter attacking the Marines position. K’Wor, myself, and two Security Officers are moving to support the Marines…we’re the only four remaining out of our fifteen man team. General Jones just beamed down to take command of the Marines, he brought along a small Security Team with him. We should be able to hold the Command Center.”
"Ok let me know if you guys need more people and I'll send some of mine down to help. Pike out." Lee tapped the comm badge to close the connection.
Saith had been thinking about what Captain Pike has said. She supposed it was true. "Can't we fire on them from here?" she asked looking at the Captain. "we should be able to isolate Jem Hadar readings."
Lee looked at her:"Yea we could and there still could be a chance of hitting our people if they are too close to the Jem Hadar. Just need to have a little patience Ensign."
Pegasus, Sickbay
"Admiral, looks like they have you stabilized," Tressa said softly. "I think Klingon plasma will be in order here," she tapped a code into the replicator, then resumed her scan.
"Redundant organ systems are a marvel, Admiral, but you have sustained some intramuscular and vascular damage. Nothing we can't fix," she added with a smile. "And you'll have some more scars added to your collection."
Still groggy from the medication, Mike tried to smirk. “Thank you Doctor.” Mike tried to sit up, but his side was extremely sore and Nurse Ashley put her hand on his shoulder as he laid back down.
Essex, Bridge
Deela was worried about Bremer. She couldn't keep her mind on anything. "Open a channel to the Pegasus."
"Channel open."
"T'Lar to Pegasus." Deela waited for a reply. "Captain Harrison here."
"Ah, Alex. I heard about Admiral Bremer. What is his status?"
"Dr. Brislan is in there with him now. As far as I know, he's stabilized. I'll let you know if there is any change."
"Thanks Alex. Have you heard anything about Major Hurd?"
Alex frowned, "No. Sorry."
Deela sighed, "Okay. Keep me posted."
The viewscreen went back to its previous view. Deela felt helpless so she decided to go help in Sickbay if she could.
"Commander Clifford, you have the con. I can't just sit here. I'm going to help Sickbay."
Andrew stood up as the Admiral headed for the door, "Understood Admiral". He watched the Admiral leave the bridge then sat down again.
Defiant, Mess Hall
Deyos has stood up and walked around while waiting the Female Founder to come on the screen. After a few minutes she appeared. Deyos bowed with his hands out wide, “Founder.”
“Deyos, my loyal Vorta.” The Founder said.
Deyos saw four Starfleet Security Officers behind the Changling. “Founder?”
“Odo tells me that you didn’t believe him…Odo is right, the war is over.” The Female Changling told Deyos.
“But…Founder…Odo is a known Federation sympathizer.”
“Who are you to question the Founders? Odo may have lived with the Humans, but he is still a Founder, and you will obey him. Order the Jem Hadar to stand down.” The Female Founder ordered.
“As you wish.” Deyos bowed again.
“Odo, it is good to see you again.” The Female said as she smiled.
Odo nodded, “It is…good to see you as well.”
After a moment, the comm closed.
“Deyos, order the Jem Hadar to stand down.” Sisko said.
Deyos walked over to the comm and opened a channel, after a second a Jem Hadar replied.
“This is Fourth Tur’kata.”
“Fourth? Where is First Ikat’ika?” Deyos asked.
“Dead sir, so is the Second and Third. I command the unit.” Tur’kata replied.
“Fourth, order the men to surrender. You will cooperate with the Starfleet personnel and the Founder, Odo.” Deyos ordered.
“But…” Tur’kata replied.
“I’ve spoken to the Female Founder, she has given the order.” Deyos replied.
Odo then stepped up beside Deyos, “Your men will stand down. You will report to Second Kriiki of my Commando Team, he will lead your men. You will return to your vessel and prepare to return to the Gamma Quadrant.”
“Yes, Founder.” The Fourth replied to Odo. He then turned to rest of the Jem Hadar.
Outpost
“Cease fire! The Founders have ordered us to cooperate with the Starfleet Personnel.”
“The Jem Hadar have stopped firing!” Captain Lennox said.
“Hold your fire!” K’Temoc yelled as he, K’Wor, and the two Security Officer rushed forward.
K’Temoc stopped behind General Jones. “Sir, Admiral Sisko reported from the Defiant, Odo has convinced Deyos to order the Jem Hadar to surrender. They will beam up to their ship to return to the Gamma Quadrant.”
"Take their weapons",ordered Andy
The Marines stepped forward and disarmed the Jem Hadar. A few still wanted to fight, they were subdued.
