Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: USS Pegasus, Sick Bay
Timeline: Following 'Securing the Outpost'
ON:
K’Temoc and K’Wor had beamed up to the Pegasus once the Jem Hadar stood down. The Marines and Security had things well in hand. Odo had already beamed over to the Dominion Battleship with Deyos and the remaining Commandos in his team. Amazingly, they had only lost three Jem Hadar out of the team, and Ramata’tar was still healing aboard the Pegasus.
However Starfleet had lost many more. Over seventy-five Marines and Security personnel were dead or wounded, including Admiral Bremer and Major Hurd.
Mike was trying to sit up, again, but the soreness and medication were making it very difficult. He saw K’Temoc and K’Wor walk in, and he was relieved both were safe. He also realized the situation on the Outpost must of improved for the better.
“Odo convinced Deyos to order the Jem Hadar to stand down.” K’Temoc said to Mike.
“Good..” Mike said has he finished sitting up.
“Odo is already aboard the Dominion Battleship and beaming the Jem Hadar up. His Commando Team is also there and in control of the Bridge. Repairs are still underway, they should have warp power in about three hours. Our reserve fleet will be here by then and will escort the Battleship to DS9 and the Wormhole along with the Defiant. The Medical Ship Mercy should be here within the hour, we’re going to transport all wounded aboard her and she’ll proceed to Starbase 400. The USS Cutlass is escorting her.” K’Temoc reported.
Mike tried to standup, his legs were still wobbly. “Have the Mercy loaded and heading for the Station as fast as possible, I don’t want her stuck out here in the Neutral Zone any longer than needed.”
“Romulans?” K’Wor asked.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if a Warbird or five were sitting out there cloaked watching us right now.” Mike replied.
“Then I better get back to the Avenger.” K’Wor said. He gave his dad a gentle hug then headed for the transporter room.
“What are you doing?” Doctor Mclintock asked when she saw Mike standing up. “Even you need time to heal.”
“I’m okay Doctor…I’m just going to my Quarters to get into a clean uniform then going to the Bridge.
Kitty glared at Bremer, but she’d learned long ago how stubborn he could be. “Fine, but if you start bleeding again, don’t call on me.” With that she turned around, whipped her long red hair, and walked off to check on another patient.
“Admiral Bremer.”
Mike turned around to see Ramata’tar standing up as well. Mclintock just threw her hands up. “Anyone else want to check themselves out of Sick Bay?”
The big Jem Hadar walked over to Mike and K’Temoc. “Thank you, for saving my life. It…it not something common among my people.”
Mike paused a moment, even though the war was so long ago, he still had hard feelings against the Dominion and the Jem Hadar. After a moment, he reached his hand out to shake Ramata’tar’s. “You saved mine too, I think that makes us even.”
Ramata’tar gave a nod as he shook Bremer’s hand. “May I accompany you?”
Mike nodded as they left Sick Bay.
A few minutes later the three arrived on the Bridge of the Pegasus. Mike took a deep breath as the turbolift doors opened, he didn’t want the Bridge crew to see how hurt he really was, or how much pain he was still in. When he stepped out of the lift, he tried to walk and talk like nothing was wrong.
“Good work everyone.” He patted Harrison on the back then walked down the ramp.” Hail the Dominion Battleship.”
A second later, Odo appeared on the screen. “Admiral, it’s good to see you’re all right.”
Mike tried to flash a smile, “Thank you. What’s your situation?”
“The Vorta Engineers aboard say we should have warp power in about three hours. We have deactivated all weapons systems and locked them out. The Defiant, Vanguard, Venator, Ark Royal, Laffey, Kearsarge, and Durga will escort us to the Wormhole before the Defiant returns to DS9 and your ships return to Starbase 400.” Odo replied.
Mike nodded, but Ramata’tar spoke up first. “Founder…Odo, I request to remind aboard this ship and service Admiral Bremer.”
Everyone on the Pegasus Bridge stopped and looked up at the Big Jem Hadar. K’Temoc and Bremer also turned to face Ramata’tar, his request had surprised everyone.
“Second Kriiki can lead the Unit and will make a capable First.” Ramata’tar added.
“You have been a very loyal and trusted…friend for many years now.” Odo replied. “It is up to Admiral Bremer.”
Mike continued to look at Ramata’tar. He thought for a moment, weighing the pros and cons of having a Jem Hadar assigned to Starbase 400…but there was really only one answer. Ramata’tar had proven to be loyal and that he could be trusted, clearly he wasn’t the typical Jem Hadar monster from the Dominion War.
“I would be honored.” Mike finally replied.
“I pledge my life to you.” Ramata’tar announced to Bremer.
“This isn’t the typical order or things.” Bremer replied.
“No…but it is the honorable thing to do.” Ramata’tar replied back.
“Then it’s done. Kriiki is now the First.” Odo added, looking back at his new Jem Hadar First.
“We’ll remain here until your ship is able to proceed at warp.” Mike said to Odo.
“Thank you, and thank you for all of your support Admiral.” Odo added…it was the first time he’d ever thanked Mike.
Mike smiled, “You’re welcome Odo. Pegasus out.” Mike took a step back and gently sat in his seat. K’Temoc took a seat in the XO’s chair, and Ramata’tar sat in the chair typically used by the ship’s Counselor.
“Captain Harrison, hail all ships and request they send us their current status and damage reports. Also advise our ground forces to remove or demo any Dominion technology on the Outpost…we don’t to leave anything behind.” Mike ordered. Mike leaned back in his chair easily.
