Mission: Episode 107 – Recovery
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD5 - 1630hrs

ON:

Bremer's Quarters

Mike had received an invite to a Halloween party for the crew. At first, he wasn't too excited for the party, there was a lot of work to still be done on the Station and support ships. However, he realized everyone, including himself, needed a break and to destress.

The invitation said to come in costume. He had no idea what to dress up as, since he'd never dressed up in costume for Halloween before. He did some quick research, but a ghost, Dracula, or a zombie just didn't interest him even though they were supposed to be classic Earth Halloween costume ideas.

Alekela's Quarters

Alekela looked that invitation. She had not a clue what a Halloween party was and what a costume was for. She sighed. She would have to research this a bit more so that she would not stand out too far though she did to an certain extent.

It turned out to be an Earth custom, like most things, it seemed the prime Federation planet had spread its culture a bit out into the galaxy. So there was something about monsters, and candy and dressing up as something you were not. It seemed strange As she went, she discovered something that the holiday was derived from something older, some older celebration on Earth called Samhain. That lead to more research and reading and while it was interesting it did not help her much. It was hard to dress up as something with large dragonfly like wings. However, there was a bit in the talk of this Samhain that talked about some sort of beings called fairies. More reading and looking at pictures started to give her an idea. Well she finally decided on what she would do and began to design something along those lines.

Lwazanda's Quarters

Lwazanda was ecstatic to have been invited to the Halloween party. She had been to a few Halloween parties in her time, though Betazoid culture had no equivalent. Lwazanda spent days researching her costume inspiration. She found references to extravagant masquerade costume balls in Earth's Italy. Lwazanda had never visited Italy, not even during the time she lived on earth. Luckily, the database had more than enough information for the reference.

Lwazanda had her handmaiden Mirenna create a gown from scratch, as well as an intricate mask. The gown was such a beautiful mix of gold embroidery on crimson silks and crimson feathers from the Oriq bird of Betazed. Lwazanda dressed and picked out a extravagant wig to compliment the outfit. Mirenna helped her boss fit several Oriq feathers in the wig and then pull on crimson gloves that came past her elbows. "Little dove, would you fetch the Garnet Diadem, and replicate an animatronic Oriq. I think the outfit demands it."

The handmaiden returned with a very real looking bird and a platinum tiara outfitted with several hundred garnets. Lwazanda was right, the addition of the diadem and the bird elevated the costume. The older Betazoid took in the whole facade in a mirror before turning on her heel to head to the party.

Xalanth's Quarters

Xalanth let out a smile to himself as he finished strapping the modified helmet to his head. His people had no day similar to Halloween. Monsters on his world were undead monsters that lived out in the deep desert and crept into the windows of the crawlers to steal children and females to eat. Still, he'd come to appreciate the human tradition and had let his mate choose some costumes for them. Now he has dressed as mars the roman and Magna Roman god of war.

Fulvia had dressed as her patron goddess Veneris Bellicus a strange version of the goddess of love worshiped by the planets gladiatrix's. Dress in a short dark pink toga with arm and knee grieves the blond roman smiled as Xalanth picked up her armour's ornate chest piece and helped her into it. " You look wonderful my love." He said which earned him a kiss on the cheek and a reply of " As do you my darling. Now let's go and have some fun."

Yamaguchi's Quarters

Lieutenant Rachael Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow as she regarded the information on the PADD that she presently held in her hand. She really wanted to go as she could don a simple dress coloured white with splashes of silver and colour her hair a light grey, then get herself some contacts for her eyes. But she sighed softly as she had a million things to tend to so, she tapped the 'decline' button on the invitation.

Yamaguchi was still a senior officer and department head. Yamaguchi wasn't in the mindset for a party anyway so she would head on up to Operations and make herself useful. She missed her child and she was only just starting to come to terms with the loss of her sister-in-law who was dead, her brother who was missing and presumed lost and all their children who were listed as missing.

Sometimes it was too much to bear, even for her. Yamaguchi shook her head, as lifted her hands up over her shoulders to tie her hair back into a simple ponytail rather than the usual french plat her mother wore.

Rachael was tired. She woke up tired and went to bed tired. She let out a soft sigh as she finished with her hair. "Alright, time to go to work..."

Vox's Quarters

Vox had decided to do some actual research into Halloween before getting a costume to wear. He decided to watch some Earth horror movies that were connected in some way to the theme of Halloween. After a few hours, he came to the conclusion that the best costume for him was that of Dracula but, being a man of good taste in clothes, he decided to model his costume after the one actor who had been described as the definitive Dracula, Bela Lugosi. He set to work on his costume.

Cameron's Quarters

Having received the Halloween party invite Ariana had set about finding herself a costume, replicating herself a red female devil costume in maternity size, complete with horns. The dress was purposely short more for Cameron than anyone else. She also replicated a cute baby pumpkin costume for baby Stacie. She smiled as she looked at Cameron, “So how do we look?”

"Completely intoxicating and absolutely sexy." Said cameron as he looked over her costume before turning to stacie. "And you my little sweety look to cute for words." he added as he kissed stacie on the forehead

Mission Briefing Room

Coleman was sitting next to Plumeri, who recently returned to the station after being a Prisoner of War. The briefing was crammed pack with tons of information about what Plumeri found on the planet and what happened to the USS Endeavor.

However, halfway through the briefing, both of their PADDs pinged with an invite to a Halloween party on the promenade. Raising an eyebrow, Coleman remembered Halloween parties from Earth in the late 20th and early 21st century, so this was exciting.

Coleman looked up at Plumeri and said, "You see this invite for the station Halloween Party?"

The briefing was giving Matt a headache anyway. Coleman's indication of the PaDD and the note was a welcome distraction. Matthew read the invitation and a smile brightened his face, "Awww hell's yeah!"

Coleman followed up by asking, "You thinking about going?"

"Nick, man, I need a party. After what we went through to get all of this" he indicated to the maps, to the data and the images on the main screens of the briefing room, "the loss of the Endeavor and all we lost just to get here? Yeah...I need to just...not be me for a while. Lest we forget what we fought so hard for. You're coming too yeah?" he asked handing the PaDD back to him and accepting the invitation with his thumbprint.

Taking the PADD and putting his thumbprint onto it, accepting the invitation, he said, "Wouldn't miss it for the world. What are you thinking about going as for Halloween this year? A bunny rabbit?" A small chuckle escaped from Coleman's lips.

Matt's eyebrows lifted as he considered it.

Percy's Quarters

Percy received an invitation to an Halloween party on his pad. “This would be a good opportunity to get to know the crew on the station” he thought to himself, he was exited to meet them. Being half human half Romulan he enjoyed those earthly events, giving in to his human nature. He never knew what costume to wear. “Hmmm... “ thinking to him self “ I’ll go as a tin man. This might raise conversation. Because he liked the fairy tale his father read to him when he was junge.”

He went over to the replicator and replicated an tin man costume for the party. Once it has finished he was ready to go.

Tactical Operations

Draven was sitting in the CiC when K'Wor walked with a report. "Here's the latest from I.I. The Klingons were able to send scouts to Zeta Pictoris and New Romulus. Typhon Pact forces are pulled out of the Zeta Pictoris area, leaving only automated defense systems including a planetary shield and orbital killer drones."

"Why would they leave defensive systems in place if there was nothing to hide or protect there?" Draven asked. "What about New Romulus?"

"They've increased their defenses there, but chatter on civilian and government channels indicates many are calling for a end to the war and desire to find a diplomatic solution but the military is pushing to continue the fight." K'Wor added.

"Maybe with a little more pressure will force them to the bargaining table." Draven replied.

"Another offensive?" K'Wor asked.

Draven took a sip of his drink. "You get an invite to the Halloween party?"

"Yeah, not sure I want to go. Don't know what to dress up as." K'Wor smirked.

"Want to skip it and give me a hand?" Draven asked.

K'Wor nodded, "Absolutely."

"Get me the latest updates from the Republic's Tal Shiar and the Obsidian Order, let's see what they have on Typhon Pact fleet movements since their pull back and compare that to our intel and intel from the Klingons." Draven replied.

Promenade, Lower Level

On the Promenade Tom was working with Crumm, Yoshi, and Mar'g setting up food tables. "Mister Yoshi, you can set your spread up here."

The Japanese man nodded, "Thank you. I have fresh tuna, yellow tail, octopus, and more with red teriyaki sauce so it looks like blood." His heavy Japanese accent made Mar'g smile.

"I have drinks that foam, fizz, and release stream to give them an eerie look." Mar'g added.

"Good, I have some dry ice and a fogger to help with the vapor in the air." Tom said.

"I don't, I don't like all this. It makes it look like there's been a battle...minus the noise and station shaking around us." Crumm said.

"Tom, I have the rack of lamb ready." Vito said as he walked over.

A couple of waitresses from 'Good Fellas' set the food down, they had set it up so it looked line a body on a medieval rack. It was garnished with various vegetables. Red, yellow, and orange in color so it looked like fire.

"The rest of the food will be here shortly." Vito added.

"Mine should be here soon too, drinks and a cake." Crumm said. "I also got Larz to send over some gagh, Bregit lung, skull stew, Pipius claw, and Rokeg blood pie."

"Great. Klingon food already looks freaky." Tom said with a smile.

Vox, who was now in his full costume (looking exactly like Bela Lugosi did in the 1931 film Dracula) decided to go for a stroll on the promenade to make sure the costume fit well and was not uncomfortable. He set off from his shop.

Walking along the promenade was Xalanth and Fulvia. Noting the art merchant the lizard called out. " heading for the party Vox.

In his best attempt to mimic the voice of Bela Lugosi Vox turned and replied "But of course, It should be very interesting"

Walking along the Promenade towards the food tables, Plumeri, being the Historian that he was, he researched an old Earth costume. '18th Century Pirate' with all of the clothing, spyglass, saber and powder musket accouterments that were appropriate for the time period. Blackjack boots, puffy pants, a sash for a belt, a poofy white shirt in layers. His head topped in a red bandana and a buckled hat on top of that. Makeup to make him look darker and tougher. He walked with a swagger towards a small group and in his best pirate-y accent said, "Arrgh! I spy the food table not farrr from here...says Aye!"

On the way to the Promenade Percy noticed that his costume made so much noise that he quickly went back to his quarters to get something to muffle the noise of his costume it took him some time and he was hoping that he would still make it on time so he would enjoy the party from the beginning till the end. He was happy with the end result and that he wouldn’t crash the party with the loud noise of tins.

He then went joined crew at party on the promenade. As he arrived at the party he noticed the details of the decorations, he saw a few pumpkins on the tables, skeletons hanging from walls and grave stones with a skeletons climbing out of the grave. “The one that has decorated this party has a great eye for detail, well done “he thought to himself. He walked over to one of the food table to join other on that table, but talking or starting a conversation wasn’t his strong suit, he was hoping that his costume would help him and others might ask him about it.

Alekelia had put on a Trellium silk dress that had been a gift from the House. The fabric was extremely soft to the touch but that is not what set it apart. It seemed to catch the light and transform it into rainbows that scintillated down the dress. The effect could not be duplicated and hence the fabrics were considered to be like latinum, precious as much so. Her dress was more like a long flight dress, simple and went only to the ankles but still it would be worth quite a bit. She had styled her hair which hung completely loose and she had put bits of sparkles and crystals in it. On her head she wore a simple silver circlet that sat just above the brow and it had some crystal in it in the front as well. She had dusted her wings with crystal dust as well, so the whole effect was one that looked like she just shone with an aura.

Pike's Quarters

Lee was sitting at his desk in their quarters when he gotten the invitation, he sat there looking over pictures for ideas for a possible costume idea.

Alex was talking to Admiral T'Lar, discussing the Halloween party. She was surprised to know that Deela had never been to one or even dressed up for the occasion. After excusing herself, she went to meet Lee and see who they were going to be. She was excited but also disappointed that her kids couldn't join them. But she was determined not to let it get her down.

Alex walked into their quarters. She walked over to him, moved behind him and put her arms around his neck, "Watcha doing?"

Lee placed a hand on her arm "I am just sitting here looking for Halloween costume ideas for this party."

Alex released him and moved next to him, "Oh good. I was trying to think of something too. My mind must be on our kids because all I could think of was the characters from their favorite 21st century movie, Aladdin. Other than that, nothing comes to mind."

Lee chuckled then stopped at a pic of the gangster coupe of Bonnie and Clyde, "So..how about this one?" He said as he pulled her onto his lap.

Alex looked at it and smiled, "That could work." The more she looked at it, it grew on her, "In fact, I think it's a perfect choice."

Lee smiled looking at her "I am glad that you think so, now we just need to replicate the outfits."

"Sounds like a plan. This is going to be a blast." Alex was just happy to be doing something fun with her husband after everything that had happened. She was grinning ear to ear.

"That it could be loads of fun." Lee brought up a picture "Think I'll wear a black with white pin stripe suit and a black fedora hat."

Alex studied Bonnie for a moment, "It says here that she wore a cloche hat and a gaudy long dress with mugly shoes. I'll replicate a dark mahogany, ankle length dress and t-strap shoes. I can't believe that the women wore that style of clothes."

Promenade, Lower Level

Reaching in and snagging what looked like a fried shrimp, dunking it into a red sauce, Matt chomped on the shrimp. He bantered with some of the assembled crewmates, joking and talking with them. He spied Xalanth and Fulvia and nodded to them a greeting, "Xalanth? I don't think I've met your lady friend here?"

Xalanth turned to the sound of his friend. " May I please present Fulvia Carus heir to the house of Carus, holder of the golden wreath three times in a row, my third and mother of fourth and soon to be fifth daughter." Xalanth said his arm around the nova roman.

"It's nice to meet you, Matthew." Fulvia said offering her hand.

With a practiced flourish of his arm and hand and a bow, he then took her proffered hand and kissed it, "Pleased to meet you ma'am. Such a grace surely raises the quality of our gathering." With a mischievous smile he let her hand free and added with his pirate accent, "Arrrr....after what we have been through; methinks this is exactly what the doctor ordered."

" Indeed. " Fulvia replied as she let Xalanth slip his arm around her again. " No more pact combat rations and some time to work with my lizard in red armor."

Matt asked, "Do your people have anything like this tradition where you are from?"

The lizard shook his head. " No, we have nothing like this, but as is the federation way i've picked it up from my first."

Matt nodded in an acknowledgement and they continued talking for a little bit. After which, he excused himself and got some food from the grub table.

Alekela's dress caught Matthew's eye. He had seen Trellium silk fabric only one time before, Akkadian Trellium was so supremely rare that he had to know how the lady got it. He addressed himself, with his piratey voice, "Pardon me m'lady? Is that Trellium Silk you be wearing? Rare it is in the parts." He said with delight.

Alekelia turned at the mention of the Trellium and beheld a man all dressed in odd clothing, but then that was the purpose of this was it not. She would find out later what he represented but she answered. "Yes, it is a parting gift from the World Council on my world. You have seen its like before?"

He nodded, "Oh yes, one time before. A good friend wore it as you do now. Also Akkadian. I think, it never looks so good as it does when the Akkadian wear it. If a rainbow could captured; surely it would be Trellium." He admired the fabric and the memory. But he cut his reverie short, smiling delightfully, "But, no raiment, no silk spun nor woven cloth; nor Solomon in all his finery could compare to a Ring Rise with a beautiful woman. Perhaps, in some small way I understand why no one ever wants to leave Akkadia?" A drink tray passed by and Matt swooped two drinks from the tray, "Ah! There be liquid libation thus so liberated to quench a long thirst? M'lady?" he offered her the second vial of purple beverage.

Alekela took the drink and sniffed it and then tasted it. It seemed nice enough and was sweet enough. She turned her attention back. "You have been to Akkadia?" Alekelia asked. She was intrigued how he knew so much about her home world.

He shook his head, "No, only in a holosuite I'm afraid. A good friend, she is from Akkadia and shared that program with me. She gave me some Trellium garment...I'll have to show you sometime! How are you liking the party?"

Alekelia wondered who that might be. She could only think of one person possibly and if so, that was something. She did not say anything further but looked over the group. "I think I understand the concept. It took me many hours of research to see if I could." She moved her wings to show them slightly and continued, "I needed to come up with something to blend these in and decided on something on Earth called a fairy." She smiled slightly and pulled her hair back a little bit to show the pointed ears. "I even got these to match the descriptions of those beings."

Admiring her costume and the details she put into it Matthew answered, "The devil's in the details; and you've spent quite a bit of time on it anyone can see that."

"Thank you, I hope it is close, this..." she waved a hand. "Is unfamiliar, so much is actually." She looked puzzled for a moment then asked, "And what is it that you are representing?"

Matt answered her, "Everything is unfamiliar until you're used to it. Give it some time ay? This station is new to me too" he said with a comforting quality to his voice. "Me? I'm an ancient Terran pirate. The fun kind. Shiver' me timbers and all that." He motioned to the food table, "Come on and get something to gnosh on?"

"Thank you, so is it the pirate capturing the fairy or the fairy taking away the pirate I wonder?" Alekelia mused as she head to see what was eatable.

Looking at Percy, this 'tin man', Matt laughed. He took a blue Marcon apple and sauntered over to the "tin-man". Taking a large bite he said, "Now, there be a costume that took some plannin'!" He eyed the tin man with one eye and a grin, "Tell me what ye be?!"

Percy turns around as he notice that a Pirate was approaching him and responded to his question “Yes it took me some time to create this costume. I’m the ‘tin-man’ from The wizard of Oz.” “It is a great story about courage. Did you ever heard of this fairytale? I loved the story, that’s how I choose that costume.

Taking another bite Matt answered, "Nay, I have not. But a story of courage falls well on mine ears. Tell me the tale O man of tin?" he said in his best pirate-y voice. Clearly enjoying himself.

“Very well, this tale is about young girl who has taken by whirl wind and carried into a world of magic and wonder. On her way through this magical world she has been tasked to find the great wizard to defeat the evil witch, she meet three magical creatures a lion , a scarecrow and a tin-man. After finishing her task she was able to return home. “ Percy explained. He enjoyed talking with Plumeri. He then grabbed something to eat and drink from the table next to him. The atmosphere was great and felt happy to at this party.

Matt rapped his tin man hat and said, "Well done laddie - where do you work when you're not in costume?"

"I'm a engineer here on the Station" Percy replied. " This post from Starfleet is my first assignment. Where do you work when you are not sailing out to See?" thinking to himself, "He might become my fiend here in the station, that would great." helping himself to another drink and took a glas of blood wine and being polite he offering Matt one too.

"An engineer is always a good person to know. So, you work with Commander Solomon? Yeah! He's helping me with a repulse-lift motorbike. Oh, you should see it. In a few months, all we need to do is find a planet with open plains and I'm a take it out for a spin." Seeing the offered mug of Klingon blood wine, Matthew downed the rest of his ale in a big gulp, "Oh. Man. That's an adult beverage right there. Thank ye." he said as he took the mug, "Cheers to you then Ensign? Welcome aboard Starbase 400!"

“Cheers Lt. Thanks for the welcome. Yeah I would love to see repulse-lift motorbike. “ said Percy“ yes I will work with Commander Solomon. I am looking forward to it”.

K'Temoc and Danielle arrived on the promenade dressed as 18th century pirates from Earth. They looked around, got a drink, and mingled with a few people.

Stark walked by K'Temoc and the two eyed each other.

"A devil?" K'Temoc asked, looking at the red horns on Stark's head, dark red cape, with a black shirt and pants.

"Aye there Mister Patchy-eyed Pirate." Stark replied.

The two gave respectful nods.

"How do you like my costume?" Ramata'tar asked.

K'Temoc and Stark looked the Jem'Hadar up and down, but he was just his normal Jem'Hadar Commando uniform.

"Umm..." K'Temoc said. "What are you supposed to be?"

"A ghost." Ramata'tar replied.

"I don't think you quite understand the tradition." Stark added.

Ramata'tar shrouded himself and disappeared.

"Actually, I think he just won the costume contest." K'Temoc said.

"Yep." Stark added, as the two looked around but couldn't see Ramata'tar anymore.

Plumeri approached his fellow costumed pirates. He jumped up onto the chair and with flair and brilliance befitting the pirate character said, "Arrr! Haarrr, har, har, haarrr!!! Misery may love company, but Pirate folk love the company of fellow pirates! Pray thee, tell me where ye hail from? Who be yer Cap'n - and the name of yer ship and her glory?"

Danielle couldn't help but to giggle.

"I be the Cap'n." K'Temoc replied, "We've sailed the seven seas looking for the best rum, Arr, do ye have any on this island?" K'Temoc smirked.

"Oh I do!" Crumm said as he walked past. "I have some spiced rum from Earth, some smooth rum from Rigel, and a blue one from Andor."

Matthew made a belly laugh, infectious as it filled the air about him, "Ahhhh hahaha! Harrrr! har-har-har!! Cry thirst! And let slip the casks of rum!. From his perch on the chair he hopped off and said, "I'll fetch the goblets...then we drink 'till we can't feel feelings no more!"

K'Temoc and Danielle watched Plumeri go after the mugs.

"If you get drunk tonight." Danielle start with a smile.

"You'll take full advantage of me later?" K'Temoc replied with a kiss on his wife's lips.

Danielle smirked.

Ops

Mike had made his way to Ops, he wanted to check in on things before going down to the party. He gave a nod to Yamaguchi. "Not going to the party?"

Yamaguchi shook her head. "No sir. I felt that I could come up here and make myself useful while others celebrate." she paused. "I'll get some coffee and cake later." she smiled but it was clear she didn't know what went into a Haloween party

"Admiral, sorry to interrupt, but I have an Admiral Clancy with Starfleet Command on the line." An Ensign at Communications said."

"Put her through." Mike said.

The gray haired Human appeared on screen. "Fleet Admiral Bremer, I'm sending a task force to Starbase 400 tomorrow lead by Captain Oh. They'll resupply before deploying to the Romulan border. You'll give Captain Oh full cooperation."

Mike glanced at Yamaguchi for a moment, the looked back at the screen. "Cooperation with what Admiral?"

"Her team will be conducting incursions into Romulan space, you will support them as needed." Clancy replied.

"With all due respect, we have a well trained Special Operations Group based her at Starbase 400..." Mike started to reply before Clancy cut him off.

"Oh give me a break. My people can do just as good of a job, and without the security snafus too."

Mike's eyes narrowed, "What snafu?"

"You have your orders, carry them out." Clancy cut the comm.

"Who the hell is that?" Locke asked from Tactical Two.

"A nightmare." Mike replied, "Admiral Kristen Clancy of Starfleet Command. She's very, ambitious and seems to be on a fast track to Starfleet CnC when Fleet Admiral Akaar retires after the war."

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "Mmm..." as she narrowed her eyes. "Do you got orders for me Admiral?" she inquired of Bremer.

Ops

Deela T'Lar was listening to people talk about this party where people dress up and emulate someone fictitious or not. She thought it was silly but the idea intrigued her. She had no idea who she would go as. Someone suggested she go as a female version of the devil. She dismissed that one very quickly. She would have to get together with Jack and see what his thoughts were.

As he made his way through Operations, Jack had hold of his PADD in his hand as he got the notification about the Halloween Party that was taking place and straight away, he had an idea for both he and Deela. Walking up to her office, he pressed the chime and waited before she let him in.

"Hey, have you seen this?" he asked as he walked up to her desk. Jack showed her the PADD message and was trying to hide his excitement.

"Yes, Alex showed it to me." She observed him for a moment. He should know by now that he couldn't hide his emotions from her, "I have never been to a Halloween party much less dress up as someone else. But..." she smiled, "I will go to this party. Who knows. It might be fun."

"Listen, I've had an idea... I always wanted to go to one of these parties dressed up as Van Helsing, the Great Earth Vampire hunter... Maybe you could join me as Anna, a glamourous Transylvania Princess and Demon Hunter?" he offered as he showed Deela the two outfits Jack had in mind.

"Okay, let's do it." She knew that this would make him happy. And after everything that went on, it was needed.

Jack smiled as she agreed. "Ok, great, meet me at my quarters in around thirty minutes, I should have the costumes ready by then, to the correct measurements for both you and I," he said with a cheeky smile.

Tactical Operations

Mike had left Ops and gone down to the CiC. As he walked in the song 'Spooky' by Classics IV was playing from Draven's 1960's playlist.

"Getting into the Halloween mood?" Mike asked.

"Yeah, since we're not going to the party we figured a little food and music while we worked was in order." Draven replied.

"You going?" K'Wor asked as he handed Draven a PADD.

"Yeah, I'm heading down there after this." Mike replied. "What do you know about Captain Oh's intel task force?"

Draven raised an eyebrow. "Not much. She's Vulcan, ambitious. Her six ship unit did some deep cover work before the war and during they've gone behind Romulan lines on a few occasions. Mixed success. Why?"

"Admiral Kristen Clancy has ordered them here and for us to assist them in their next operation." Mike replied.

"You're got to be kidding me." Draven replied.

"K'Temoc isn't going to like this." K'Wor added.

"I know." Mike said. "I want you to find a way to mirror any data they recover here."

Draven nodded. "Okay. Commander Cross is good with things like that, I'll get him on it."

"Thanks." Mike replied. He gave a nod to his son and Draven before leaving.

Promenade, Lower Level

Thirty minutes later Mike showed up at the party. As he stepped out of the turbolift. He was wearing brown boots, brown pants, tan stripped shirt, brown vest, a tan hat and a blue bandanna around his next. Around his waist was a brown belt with a Colt six-gun on his hip.

Coming out of the next turbolift over was Ensign Harper. He wore blue jeans and a blue denim shirt, black vest and black hat with a dark blue bandanna around his next. He had a black belt and also had a Cold six-gun at his hip.

Bremer and Harper looked at each other for a moment and their eyes narrowed. Instead of a old west showdown, the men smiled.

"What's what saying about great minds?" Mike said.

"Yes sir." Harper replied. "I didn't know you enjoyed the American old west.

"Absolutely do. A simpler time with its own adventures." Mike replied.

Harper nodded. "Buy you a drink sir?"

Mike nodded, "You're on cowboy."

The two men walked toward the party area.

Coleman's Quarter's, Level 350

Coleman had been looking through various costumes to wear to the Halloween party and wasn't sure what to come as. The mirror on the wall was able to show him what he'd look like in each one, using holographic technology to project the costume onto a holomatrix in the mirror.

However, nothing seemed quite right. That was until Coleman heard a chime that knocked him out of his daze. Coleman answered with a simple, "Yes?" When the door opened, Nick couldn't help but laugh as who walked through the door and what he was dressed as.

Jonathan had walked through the door and he was dressed as Siegfried, from the famous duo Siegfried and Roy from Earth's History. Before Nick could say anything or ask why Jonathan was on the Station, he simply said, "I was here delivering some new technology off to the Starbase and heard about a little Halloween get together. Thought I might crash a party or something. But, I do need some help, seeing as I don't have a Roy to my Siegfried. Care to help me out with that?"

Nick started to bust a gut and couldn't hold back the laughter from rolling. All he could do was laugh and nod that he would help his brother out. Jonathan walked over to replicator and ordered it to make a costumer that was synonymous with Roy from the duo in the size that would fit Nick.

"We're going to need a trick if we're going to show up like these two. Please tell me you have a trick up your sleeve bro," Nick said as his brother turned around, so Nick could get into his costume. Jonathan just smiled and said, "I've got a few up my sleeves."

After getting dressed, they headed down to the Promenade, so they could join their fellow party goers and enjoy the entertainment.

Promenade, Lower Level

The doors of the turbolift opened to the party and the Coleman brothers walked out to see something they could have seen in the early 21st century on Earth, after the Eugenics Wars. Taking a few steps out into the party, both men smiled and looked around to see if they could see anyone. Nick saw Plumeri with someone and pulled Jonathan towards them.

Once in range, Nick said, "Nice costume you two. What are we coming as this evening?"

Matthew was talking to a crewman he had never met before. She was wearing a fancy costume and had in her hand a hand-held mask. Similar to those worn in Venice. He had finally talked her into removing her mask and after a few compliments was moving in for a kiss when he heard Coleman's voice. The still unknown female crewman put her mask back on and said, "Missed your chance?" Plumeri smiled and said, "The evening is still young." He turned and with a great big smile pulled Coleman into a bro hug. "There he is. My rescuer! Hey man! You look great! Nick? I want you to meet."

She almost said her real name, Matt smiled, "Darn!" and she answered, "Madame Pompadour" and offered her hand to the Coleman brothers.

Each of us took a chance to kiss the hand, like they would back in Ancient Italy. Since both Nick and Jonathan were several hundred years old and had studied History at the academy, they knew of some of the customs.

Looking at Plumeri, Nick asked, "Who are you coming as tonight?"

'Madame Pompadour' appreciated the attention and said to Nick, "Thank you" with a sexy voice.

Matt seeing her move answered Nick's question in his best pirate voice, "Arrrggh! I be a dread pirate! A terror of the high seas of yesteryear. I should run ye through with me blade so's ye can meet the devil himself fer asking such a question. This 'ere be a party wench merely pertendin' to be a so-called Madame." He said it playfully enough. But Melanie had figured out how to tease him. She cozied up to the handsome Science Chief and removed her mask, "My friends call me Melanie. Won't you join me for a drink?" she squeezed his arm.

"Yes, lets go have a drink, shall we?" Nick said, as he took his new acquittance to the bar to grab a drink.

"What?", Plumeri asked. He watched as the two walked away. He smiled and realizing that she had gotten away, he shrugged, "Ahh well."

Jonathan stayed back and couldn't help but chuckle. Turning to Plumeri, Jonathan asked, "So, how long have you been here Mr. Plumeri? How are you feeling after being a prisoner of war?"

Matthew turned to look at the other Coleman brother. For a moment all the joy of the Halloween party evaporated. In the question, Matt was brought back to all the unpleasantness of the ordeal. He looked away. Both irritated and forced to face the memory again, it took him a moment to cover it over again. He looked back and said, "To tell you the truth, I won't be sending the Tholians any Christmas cards this year." He said it with a straight face. The annoyance and the irritation of having to return to that hellish ordeal leveled squarely at the man. A beat passed and then, unable to keep a straight face, he laughed. "Of course, I'm probably not to high on the Tholians list of best friends either. I don't think we've met? I'm Matt; are you...Jonathan?" he asked with a grin.

"Yes, I'm as what my brother likes to call me, the younger brat of the family. But, then again, whose the one who is a full Commander and a Deputy Chief of the Corp of Engineers?" Jonathan said, smirking because he knew his brother heard every word of it. But, nobody cared, as they were all enjoying themselves. Jonathan looked at Plumeri and said, "Whatever that blue stuff is in your drink, I want some because it doesn't look like Romulan Ale."

Matt answered, "Yeah? Well, since your brother stole my date away from under me; I have free time now. And yeah, the blue drink it ain't. 'Tis time for the game of drink! C'mon, it's time to taste...the creature!

Then, the two men walked over to the bar and had a nice long chat while Nick and his new found date had some fun for the evening.

Chiara’s Quarters

Chiara stood looking at herself in the mirror trying to figure out what kind of Halloween outfit would suit her. She didn’t normally attend parties but this was a celebration of getting the station back too. She wondered what Croesus was going as and there was only one way to find out.

=/\= Chiara to Croesus, are you available? =/\=

Jack Solomon's Quarters

After having found the two programs he was looking for in his replicator menu, Jack had programmed it to create the two costumes required and then made sure that they were to the correct measurements for both he and for Deela. The last thing that he wanted was for them not to fit or to be uncomfortable or them both.

He began getting dressed in his costume, knowing that Deela would be arriving soon and wanted to make sure that he could dress himself and also that all of the various pieces fitted correctly.

Deela looked in the mirror and gave the outfit that she'd be wearing, some thought but her ears, eye color and eyebrows just wouldn't go with the outfit. She made a special trip to sickbay and had some temporary reconstruction done. Afterwards, she looked again in the mirror and just stood there staring at herself. She looked...human. She couldn't wait to surprise Jack.

Deela made her way to Jack's quarters. She wasn't sure how he'd react but this was a Halloween party and the idea was to dress up as someone else. She rang the chime and stood there with her human ears, light brown eyes and filled in eyebrows, waiting.

Jack, having made sure that he was fully in costume and dressed for the evening, walked over to the door and answered it to see Deela dressed in her costume. "Wow, you look amazing!" he said as he invited her in and stood back to take a good look as she did a twirl before him. That was when Jack realised that Deela had also had some temporary reconstruction done.

"Do you like it? I thought I would suit the costume better this way, I did it for you," Deela admitted. Jack walked over to her and kissed Deela gently.

"I love it and I love that you went this far as well, thank you. This means a lot to me," he said. Standing back, Jack marvelled at her once more before offering Deela his arm. "Shall we?"

The two of them linked arms and made their way out of Jack's Quarters towards the party.

Promenade, Lower Level

"Remind me, why we came down here?" Dustin asked, as he started to walk along side Aubrey. He was a security officer, not a diplomat, or a shopper. Typically when he came down to this area, it was to break up altercations. But today, he was down here to spend time with Aubrey.

“There is a party going on,” Aubrey said with a smile. “It is a Halloween Party and we should at least stop in for a few minutes.” Her eyes met his. “Unless you would rather do something else?”

Dustin would have preferred to do anything else. But he picked up on the verbal cue that this was important to her. Despite her saying, 'would you rather do something else?' He knew this was a test. And he was going to pass this test.

Not to far away, Ezekiel was walking down the promenade as well. He felt more comfortable about taking a little bit of down time. He was happy to spend time with Anna. Plus now they had a wedding to plan for.

“This is nice,” Anna said with a smile. “These are the times to make the most of, they don’t happen very often.” She was thinking about their wedding and looking forward to being his wife.

"Halloween Parties, is not something I normally attend. As you know, I am typically planning my mission." Ezekiel said, knowing that he needed to loosen up a little bit. Now that he was a commanding officer, he had to be more presentable. And that meant attending more social gatherings.

Vox was still wandering the promenade in his Dracula costume, practising menacing looks in any reflective surface he happened to walk passed. He headed towards are a group of people who were all in their costumes.

Lunara arrived in the promenade, dressed in a hastily replicated witch outfit, and looked around. This place was absolutely massive, and filled with throngs of people. She saw a man dressed in what seemed to be dressed in a vampire costume making faces in all the windows and mirrors he passed. She chuckled, figured he was as good a person as any to start with, and made her way over to him.

Vox noticed the lady approaching him from her reflection in the window. He turned and smiled. As she reached him he wrapped his cape around himself and in his best Bela Lugosi impersonation he bowed "I am.. Dracula. I bid you welcome."

Shit. He was speaking in character and she knew almost nothing about Earth witches. "Err... double trouble, toil and stubble. Fires burn and the... cauldron bubbles." Was... that how Shakespeare went? Close enough coming from a Trill, she supposed. "It's very nice to meet you... sir Dracula." She did her best attempt at an evil cackle, which likely sounded more like a shrill giggle.

"Good evening. " Vox replied. "I don't really know if have the impression correct or even if anyone would know who I am impersonating. The film I watched for my research was made in the year 1933 on Earth. "Vox added.

Lunara chuckled. "Hey, that makes two of us. All I know about witches is what I've picked up from other Halloween parties. That, and something from Shakespeare, but I barely remember him." She smiled. "I have to say, I didn't expect to run into another Trill so soon."

"Indeed. I don't there are many of us here. A handful was the expression I heard someone use for the number of Trills on the station. Have you been here long?" Vox asked.

Lunara shook her head. "No, just arrived a few hours ago. I should be unpacking, but..." she grinned, "something told me this would be more fun."

"I hope so too. The other costumes I have seen so far are fantastic. " Vox commented.

"Oh, yes! There was an Andorian dressed as the best zombie I've ever seen." She grinned. "I can't say I expected something so large on a Starfleet installation."

Suddenly, a rogue pirate appeared. Matt Plumeri all dressed up pirate-like did his best impersonation. "Avast! Ye curse-sed monsters! From affon yar I spied a blood-sucking Vampyre!" He drew his fake saber at them, "And, who be this? What 'ere be so foul that such creatures can walk about uncontested and unopposed? Speak! Or I'll send ye back to hell's hot and intriduce ye to Davy Jones' watery locker!" He did his best to not smile, but the edge of his mouth slowly crept into a grin. Eyes flashing, hand held high, a swashbuckler at play.

Lunara grinned. "Stand back, you, uh... scurvy sea dog! I'll turn you into a frog!" She wiggled her fingers back and forth as if casting a spell.

"I'd do as she says" Vox replied and then in his best pirate voice. "She be a laaand lover and a witch. She'll turn yee into a mop and your head will swab the decks forever " he smiled.

Matt lowered his fake saber and said in his normal voice, his thick Fontalan accent apparent, "Well alright then. If you're going to put it like that." He sheathed the saber and said, "Nice costume Vox! t suits you. I think you found your style man." Turning to the 'witch' Matt said, "And you I haven't met before. I don't think so? There are so many people I haven't met yet. I'm Matt Plumeri. One of Commander Coleman's coffin stuffers from Science."

Vox nodded in the compliment on his costume.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Lunara shook her head. "I forgot to introduce myself to both of you." She extended a hand, smiling. Like most Trill, her hand was cool to the touch. "I'm Lunara Hol, one of the new counselors on this station. Just arrived earlier today. Nice to meet you, Matt."

"Likewise, I'm pleased to meet you. Welcome to Starbase 400 then Counselor. Your timing is perfect; we just had a rather nasty eviction settled and the whole station is being sanitized and made right." Plumeri smiled and was enjoying the party.

Lunara chuckled. "I was only able to read a very little bit about it on the trip, but it seems like I'll have my work cut out for me. What exactly happened?"
