Kaleb IV

Once the Pegasus was in orbit, Bremer, K’Temoc, and handful of Security personnel beamed down to New Hampton. A handful of buildings, Starfleet installations mostly, were still burning from the Pirate raid. Captain Dow was standing along with a Security Officer close to a group of captured Pirates...mostly Humans with a few Klingons and Andorians also in the mix.

“They hit without any warning, at least one of their ships was cloaked. They took out our targeting sensors for our defensive arrays with their first few shots, then the other ships joined in. Thank God you drove them off.” Dow said as Bremer approached.

“Wish we could take all the credit, but it was the Klingons that did most of the work driving the Pirates off.” Mike replied.

“The Klingons?” Dow asked.

“Long story, I’ll tell you later.” Mike replied as he looked around.

A moment later a group of Marines beamed down from the Tiriptz.

The Tirpitz had done what she could in orbit, but as eluded to before the marines beamed down, the Klingons did most of the work. The marines, while a small squad or two, would be better served here on the surface. Percy spotted the admiral and came to a salute before going back to his standard on-guard posture. "Admiral, Major Morris and a small portion of the Marine 1st reporting. We're at your disposal."

Mike nodded, “Thank you Major.” Mike then looked back at Dow, “Are all the Pirates rounded up?”

“No, there’s a group of at least ten that took the hills just past the edge of town.” He pointed toward the river than runs along the edge of the city. “They fled up river. We tried to beam them back, but they seem to have a portable transport inhibitor active.”

Mike looked back at Morris, “Major, take your team flush them out and apprehend them.”

Morris nodded firmly. "As you command, admiral." He spun on his heals. "Let's move out!" The few Marines in their group would head in the direction specified, rifles and blades and HUDs all on full bore - it was time to mop things up down here.

Aquila made sure he had a new pulse rifle at his disposal before he beamed down. He would have felt better leading his MARSOC Marines on this rabbit hunt, but he was currently with the Major, and with the Major he would stay. Besides, Gunny Monaj was running the group in his absence.

A moment after the Major departed with his unit, General Jackson came out of one of the damaged buildings. He was personally having a discussion with a Pirate who did not want to come quietly. The pirate never made it out of the building. He saw the Admiral, and walked up to him. "Admiral Sir."

“General, have some of your men escort our guests here back to the Station. Have Mister Lokran find them a nice place they can wait and relax.” Mike said, glaring at the Pirates.

Jackson nodded at the order, "With pleasure Sir. Sergeant Vaal, please see to our guests. Make sure Mister Lokran has a really comfortable place for them at Station Security, then get back here ASAP."

"Consider it done, Sir." Olga lowered her weapon at the prisoners. "Alright, before we move out remember that as captured pirates we can shoot you for any reason." Olga threatened them. She really had no desire to shoot an unarmed person but she considered pirates dangerous until they were locked in a cell. "Move out at the double!" she shouted at them.

"Gunny Monaj, I need you and a MARSOC Team to be on standby here as a QRF for Major Morris. Your boss is with his group heading to the hills. I will have a couple of Blackhawk Runabouts sitting on the Main Square for you."

The Nausican nodded, "At once Sir."

“The other settlements are secure, they beamed their buddies back up, I guess these guys either missed their ride, the Klingons destroyed their ship, or their friends turned tail and ran leaving them to rot.” Dow added.

“K’Temoc, contact the Station and advise Commander Coleman to send down repair teams. Let’s help the citizens of all three cities get things cleaned up and repairs underway.” Mike said.

K’Temoc nodded as he walked off to send the message. Mike took a step to the side as well, then turned back to the prisoners.

“Pretty bold move, coming out of the Triangle in force to attack a Federation planet, with a Starbase orbiting it. Didn’t quiet pay off like you wanted it to though.” He wanted to see if any of the Pirates were in charge or apart of the attack’s planning and what better way to find out than to insult their efforts. “Especially while Klingon ships were in the area.”

After a moment, one man, an Andorian, spoke up, “We didn’t know the Klingons would be here, but we still made off with some good loot.” He smirked as his antenna laid to the sides.

Mike glanced at one of the Marines, then reached in and picked up the Andorian to his feet and shoved him against a wall that was a few meters behind. K’Temoc walked back up behind him a moment later.

“Who are you?” Mike demanded as he held the Andorian against the wall.

“Shal” He tried to pull away, but found Bremer’s grasp to be too much so he relaxed slightly. “We’re part of the Omerta Cartel.”

“Omerta? Didn’t think the Pirate clans had names.” K’Temoc replied.

“We didn’t but when you captured Clark it threw everything into disarray. After some internal fighting, we’ve been able to organize, and now there’s several Cartels operating under different leaders, but none as strong as Omerta!”

Mike’s face shown his anger, and after a moment he tossed the Andorian back to the ground beside his friends. “Once Commander Lokran is finished questioning you, all of you will return here to help with repairs. If you refuse, I promise you it’ll regret it, because I know a bed on Rue Penthe has opened up recently.”

Jackson was amused as he overheard the Admiral. He thought to himself, "Hell, there is always a bed open at Rue Penthe." He turned around to make sure his Marines were doing their jobs, and of course they were. He tapped on his Combadge. =/\=Jackson to Morris. Be advised that I have a QRF on Standby on the ground in case you need them.=/\=

=^= Affirmative, general. We're about to engage. Morris out. =^= The response was curt and short, but not unexpected of Morris at this point.

Kaleb IV nearby hillside

"Ok, you heard him." Morris spoke in a bit of a whisper. "The targets are just up ahead. Engage will full stun, strategic ambush." Morris was perched up on one of the hills, covered by some small bushes and a few trees nearby. He was laying down, his HUD zooming in on the infrared images of their targets, his phaser pulse sniper rifle at the ready. He put the stand down on the gun and focused, the HUD performing the sight scope role.

Giaus with some Marines went on to assume positions closer to the enemy. He used hand signals to get them on line. There wasn't enough Marines to set up security, so an assault group and a support group would have to do.

After assuring that the other Marines were in proper line ambush form, Giaus assumed a prone firing position, and zoomed his holosight onto the pirates in the rear of their poorly conceived file formation. It would be like shooting ducks in a row. He double checked to make sure his pulses were going to stun, something he was not used to doing throughout his career. "Assault group ready."

"Ready on the hill," replied Morris, still whisper in their coms. After the men were in place down near their enemy, Percy fired a pulse and, with his sniper skills, it easily zapped the lead target right in the torso, rendering him immediately unconscious. He spun a few degrees and fired on the last target - his theory was that one of the two was the actual leader of the grouping. "Two down, nine to go."

That unfortunate pirate at the end of the line got dropped by two bolts from two different weapons. Giaus thought that the pirate was going to feel that in the morning. He dropped another pirate, as his men did the same. He then called out to Morris, "Lift and shift fire".

Morris adjusted and began a bit less targeted fire, just trying to perhaps keep a perimeter of fire to contain the group of pirates.

When Morris' group shifted their fire away from where the main body of the pirates stood, Giaus shouted, "Assault Group forward!" His Marines charged into the area, stunning the pirates that were still moving in their immediate area.

Morris heard the command and got himself up out of his cover spot, in pursuit of the group. He converted his phaser rifle from sniper mode (stand and extensions) to a more hand-held version and motioned for any left with him to follow.

Lennox had continued to move up while others were taking shots at the fleeing Pirates. He moved to a position with defilade on the Pirate’s right and waited. Once the Pirates realized they were being picked off, they stopped running and started to look for cover of their own. Lennox took careful aim fired two quick pules. The first hit its target square in the chest and the impact sent the man, a Romulan, to the ground stunned. The second hit its target in the left shoulder and spun the Bajorian to the ground, also stunned. The rest of the Pirates were running away from his positon and Lennox spoke in the comm in a quiet tone, “Two more down, rest are on the move still heading north west.”

Confident of the cover Morris and his Marines provided, he used most of his group to set up a small perimeter, while he and a couple of Marines started to search and restrain the slumbering pirates on the ground. "Major, area secure. Our count is short. Some must have made it out."

"Ok," replied Morris as he was getting within visual range of the group. "Let's get a few out on the edges to track them down." He began scoping around the area to make sure they were indeed secure where they stood with the existing prisoners.

Olga and the fire team that escorted the prisoners were late and missed Aquila and the Marines. They decided to try and catch up. Olga heard over the comm that the pirates were on the move. As the team moved forward they spotted a long draw. If they follow it they could possible cut off the running pirates. Olga motioned the team to follow her into the low ground.

They quickly moved up the draw among the rocks and boulders. There was a rise in the ground that was rough and strewn with large rocks. Catching her breath, Olga saw that it had a good field of fire.

"Parker and Wong, take up positions here." Olga ordered. As the two marines went prone behind the rocks Olga looked over at Taja. "Alright Lance Corporal, come with me." Olga motioned with her hand for the other marine to follow. The two continued up the draw.

They came to nearly the top of the hill. Olga motioned for Taja to take cover behind a boulder. It was then that they could her fire from the position of the other two marines. Olga quickly got behind cover. She was going to ask Taja if she could see anything when the Lance Corporal came under fire.

Olga decided to change positions to see if she could get a better view. Then out of nowhere, A large Klingon screamed at the top of his lungs and brought down a bat'leth down on Olga. Her reflexes saved her as she parried the blow with her assault phaser. The bladed weapon was stuck in Olga's rifle. The two struggled momentarily before a Andorian male came out of the rocks and tackled Olga.

The Andorian was on top of Olga and started to pummel her with his fists. Olga brought her elbow up into the side of the Andorian's jaw. She hit him several times before he fell over. Olga pulled her self up. It was then she saw the Klingon. He had pulled his bat'leth free and had a wide smile on his face as he closed on Olga. A weapon discharged nearby and the Klingon fell over, stunned.

Olga looked over at Taja. She also had a smile on her face. "You took long enough!" Olga yelled at the Lance Corporal. Taja gave Olga the finger and smiled even wider. "Alright, " Olga smiled back. "We need to police these guys up."

Morris tapped a display on his wrist and saw a couple more friendlies had closed in and apparently engaged. He was proud of the marines and others involved, even if he didn't really have to provide that much leadership. They worked as a cohesive collection, soldiers through and through.

Starbase 400, OPS

Jewel was left in charge keeping an eye out for anything suspicious while the Admiral was gone. "Tactical report of the area?" Jewel ordered as she stood there.

“Area is clear General, the remaining Pirate ships have reentered the Triangle, and General Klag’s ships have left the system and are at warp either heading for QonoS.” Roebuck reported.

She nodded, "keep an eye out and let me know if you see something that isn't suppose to be there." She added.

“Yes ma’am.” Roebuck replied. After a moment, his panel beeped. Roebuck tapped the comm, “Commander Lokran, Lieutenant Barata, signal from the surface, Sergeant Vaal is preparing to beam up with several prisoners. They want to verify a holding cell is ready.”

Andrew walked into ops. "What's happening, General?". Although he left his quarters for breakfast over an hour ago, he had no idea where the time had gone and he still hadn't had breakfast.

She looked up and was about to answer Andrew when she seen the turbolift doors open again and out walked Captain Lee.

Lee entered Ops he looked around, seeing Jewel he walked over towards her:"What's going on General?"

"There has been a problem down on Kaleb IV at the city of New Hampton, pirates have attacked the city. The Klingons were able to destroy and chase away the pirates. Admiral Bremer with the USS Pegasus as well as the USS Tiriptz with our marines have went to assist. We have some prisoners aboard as well as they are rounding up the rest." Jewel replied as she looked at them both.

Andrew looked around the room, "If the prisoners are under control and the Pegasus and Tirpitz are monitoring the surface, the only thing we need to do here in ops is maintain the perimeter defence. It is highly unlikely that they will have reinforcements, bit it is possible." He paused for a second, then continued. "As they were able to get to the planet, it is also possible they may have some personnel here on the station, so that also needs monitoring. Is there any recordss of unusual comms traffic to or from the station?" He was actually glad of something like to think about other than the spectres of his friends, who seemed to follow him about wherever he went.

"Nothing before the attack, and still not picking anything else up. Think they were trying to see what they could get away with and they didn't win in the end." Jewel replied as she looked at Holly. "Just keep an eye on anything unusual on the comm lines coming and going report anything unusual." Jewel replied to Holly.

Lee nodded:"We probably should keep an eye out for any ships just in case more pirates decide to show up."

SB400 Security

"Affirmative, we have cells," replied Saith. She sent the coordinates for the open cells and added, "beam when ready." She turned and divided the present Security officers into groups and the moved into position to await the prisoners.

Saith briefly pondered how many things had happened in the last two days. She did not have a lot of time to do so, however, as the prisoners arrived. She did not know whom Lokran would like to interrogate first, but it did not really matter to her. She set about sorting the prisoners.

She assigned two Security officers to checking for information for each pirate/prisoner and she was classifying them based on what they learned about each prisoner. She then assigned cells by those classifications. She kept track of every point she assigned each prisoner and why she ranked them the way she did.

She caught Lokran’s eye as he entered Security and nodded. Picking up her PADD she moved toward him, “all of the interrogation rooms are ready to go. I did not know if you had a preference.” She handed him the PADD, “this is what we know of each of them so far,” she frowned, “I don’t know if lack of information means they are insignificant or damn good. How can I help you, sir?”

Ops

Holly stayed at her station which was operations and continued to monitor things. She wanted to make sure that the station was stable enough to get through this. The last thing that they needed was to deal with station hick-ups during a heated situation.

Coleman was sitting at the Engineering Station, which was along one of the walls of Ops. He had assembled his damage control teams, under the supervision of Warrant Officer Blackthorne. He looked over at General Hurd and said, "Ma'am, whenever the site is secure, my damage control teams are ready to beam down and being repair work on the installations."

"Understood, open a channel to Admiral Bremer." Jewel asked as she looked at Holly.

Holly made eye contact with Jewel, "Yes, ma'am." It was then that she put her head down and started to work her station like she had been born there and that this wasn't a recent assignment for her. Once the channel was established she then spoke to Jewel, "Channel open." Monitoring the communications line she was tracking for anything that might be off power wise. Always preparing for the worse case Holly performed her job to the best of her abilities.

"Admiral, Coleman has a team ready to beam down. Is the area secure?" She asked as she looked around Ops.

Mike tapped his commbadge, “We’re secure here. Prisoners from this area have been beamed up to the Brig and we have a Marine unit in pursuit of a few stragglers. Transport the damage control teams when ready.”

Coleman tapped his combadge, "What areas are the most affected and should be worked on first, Admiral?"

“Center of New Hampton seems to have been hit the hardest, but for now I want your teams to focus on the Starfleet installations that were hit. Defensive batteries planet side, and the Planetary Control Center. I also want to be able to deploy orbital defensive arrays as soon as possible to help cover the far side of Kaleb IV from wherever Starbase 400 is.” Bremer replied.

K’Temoc then cut in, “Coleman, if you’ll send me a group of ten Damage Control techs, Mister Stark and I will be working in the Planetary Control Center with Captain Dow. We’ve been talking and I think we have a few updates to help ensure something like this doesn’t happen again...and on the off chance it does we’ll be much better prepared.

Coleman ran his fingers across his control panel and delegated where each control team would go and where they would be needed most.

He said, "Captain Bremer, I'll send that group of ten down to you immediately, led by Mister Blackthorne and Captain Stark. Admiral, I'll be sending the rest of the teams down to you right after that to start fixing up all federation and starfleet installations. Depending on the level of damage depends on how long it'll take to fix, but I'm hoping to have it done within the next few days, sir."

Planetside

Eventually, Percy would report in that everyone unaccounted for initially was now in capture. "Major Morris reporting in... we've got em. All clear on the surface from our count." A few beads of sweat rolled down his face as he took off his protective helmet, still a bit on the ready with adrenaline pumping. They would undoubtedly be beaming up to the Tirptiz momentarily.

Mike tapped his comm-badge, “Well done Major. Have them beamed to the Station, I’m sure Mister Lokran has facilities waiting for them.”

Jackson, who never left the surface until he knew all was secure, walked right behind the Major. "Excellent job Major Morris. How about our people?"

Morris was a bit surprised that both the brass were there. He had come into the makeshift command post basically reporting his all clear to anyone that would listen. It was his bosses that would be listening. "Uh, thank you sir. Everyone did fine work, I just joined in the fun, sir." He managed a salute after fumbling with his headgear. "And everyone is reporting fine except a couple casualties. I trust medical is here to triage?"

"The Medics set up an Aide Station next to the LZ. From they get triaged, the wounded can bem up to the starbase." Jackson already knew there were no serious injuries, because the Marines would have said so already.

Mike then added, after Jackson was done, “Major, dock the Tiriptz, you and your Marines get some rest. You did well.”

Giaus gave the Jackson and Morris a nod as he walked by them. =/\=Aquila to Monaj. You may stand down from QRF, and return to Base. Sorry you missed the party.=/\= The only reply Aquila got was a grunt over the comm. He smiled, and thought to himself "Why shouldn't regular mud Marines have some of the fun."

Morris nodded to the admiral with an affirmative but remained silent. He heard Aquila's call and couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the last bit. He turned and pointed with his hand to his men to head out to the designated transporter location.

Then Giaus saw Marines from the group that got the rest of the pirates approach. He recognized Olga. He made it a point to recognize their efforts. "Good job Vaal."

"Thank you Sir." Olga replied as she wiped the blood off her face from when the Andorian pummeled her. "I'm going to find a medic now to patch up my face. "

Mike looked over at Jackson, “Have the Marine Engineering Battalion beam down to assist with repairs to civilian facilities. Homes, school, etc.”

"Very good Sir. Besides, the Sappers will look at this job as a vacation. Only so much a Combat Engineer can do on a Star Base."

Mike smirked and nodded, then tapped his commbadge, "Bremer to Pegasus. Prepare to return to the Station. One to beam up." A moment later he transported back to the Pegasus as the ship broke orbit and maneuvered to dock at Starbase 400.
