Mission: Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: USS Lexington
Timeline: Several hours after 'Final Mission Prep (Lexington)'

ON:

The Lexington, still cloaked, dropped out of warp at the edge of the Chaltok system. Bremer stood up from the CO’s chair and took a step forward. He looked back at K’Temoc, Lokran, and Matthews who were also on the Bridge, standing back at the aft station. K’Temoc and Matthews were both dressed as Romulans, and their appearance had been altered too. Mike had to take an extra glance at his brother. He could only shake his head and smirk, ‘If our father was still alive…’

“Mister Talan, Mister La Baron, scan the system, passive sensors only. Let’s make sure no one else is out here. Matthews, let’s get this shuttle of yours ready for the teams to board.”

Talan swiped his fingers across his console. His station chirped in response. "No signs of enemy vessels, Admiral. However, these low-level scans may prove inconclusive."

"No anomalies detected, Captain," Anthony said as he continued the scan. "I recommend we boost the signal by at least ten percent if you want to detect any passing tachyon particles."

Slade nodded to Bremer as he went to the Intelligence station and entered a series of commands, "I've sent the initialization sequence and the ship will be here in approximately ten minutes."

Coleman finished up at the Engineering Station and put in some last minute commands into his PADD and got up and walked over to Captain K'Temoc. He quietly said, "I have the command codes to put into the Romulan Computers for the backup. If all else fails, I can activate it and make it look as if some lowly Romulan Centurion input a wrong command and disabled the slipstream drive and the ship for several hours."

Coleman handed the PADD over to Captain K'Temoc for a last minute inspection of the information.

K'Temoc looked over the PADD, and while Coleman was looking away, he tapped in a few subtle changes to the coding. They weren't enough to be noticed though. He glanced at Matthews who gave a nod.

"Looks good." K'Temoc replied as he handed the PADD back to Coleman. "Once we get there and aboard the ship, upload this immediately."

Saith double-checked herself to be sure she was properly geared. She was in uniform, her hair was dress code appropriate, and she was sufficiently armed. That meant she had tucked weapons everywhere her Romulan uniform would allow and not be too conspicuous. She was not overly worried about these being noticed really; as with Klingons, it was common to have extra weapons at your disposal. She looked at her reflection for a moment.

She had relaxed in her quarters and thought about the mission after the briefing. She also sketched out what she expected the place to look like, where the engineers should be, and where the Remans probably were. She briefly wondered if Rihan and Reman designs had changed much but there wasn’t anything she could do about it if they had. It was ‘show time.’ She had nothing left to gather since everything she needed was on her body. She headed for the Away Team rendezvous point.

Slade stood in his quarters. The code changes would work, but most likely not on the time table that was preferred by Starfleet Intelligence. In order for the ultimate goal to be accomplished the entire station the ship was being built in would have to be destroyed. He didn't mind the parts of his job that required infiltration, intelligence gathering and planting, or just general duties. But, he didn't like causing destruction that could lead to a loss of life, even if it was sometimes necessary, and this time it was. The scientists with more than vague knowledge of Quantum Slipstream Drive information were a threat to the long-term results of this assignment.

A few minutes later, the Lexington came to a stop as a small Romulan vessel approached. Bremer watched it on the screen for a moment, then tapped his comm-badge, "Bridge to Away Teams, your ride is here. Stand by for transport."

Ensign Brody's heart began to pound. This was to be his first away mission in hostile territory in some time. As nervous as he was, there was a tinge of excitement bubbling deep within him. He was optimistic about the outcome despite the number of unknowns and variables that lay ahead. He stood at attention adorned in the standard Romulan Centurion gear as he awaited transport.

Saith glanced at Brody while they waited, and gave him a crooked grin. “Happy hunting.” She actually felt the calmest she had in two days and she wasn’t sure if that was good or bad, so she was trying not to dwell on it. She took her rough drawn map out and looked at it as if committing it to memory. Of course, it had come from memory so that wasn’t really the case. She offered the small scrap of paper to Brody, “this is a general map of lay-outs for these types of stations. Unless they have a new design, it might help us pinpoint the Remans.”

On the bridge, Anandra sat stoic in the counselor's chair as the moment of truth came upon them. While she had every confidence in this crew and their abilities, she still felt concerned, mentally repeating the phrase 'be careful out there' as if any of the away team could read her thoughts.

With the ship at a stand still, Aidan was now consumed by the anxiousness that he had confided to Talan. He bit at his lip, fidgeting relentlessly, with the fingers of one hand drumming an aimless beat on the surface of his console. He turned and looked at the others on the bridge..Counselor Delair was difficult to read, but the white knuckled grip she had on her chair told Aidan he was not alone there. He looked over at Talan, who was cool as could be, of course. "Bloody Borg." he said - affectionately, of course - to himself as he turned back to face the console, heaving a sigh. A small part of him wished he was going with the away team, if only to have something to do that would occupy his mind better than sitting at the conn of a ship at all-stop.

Slade arrived at the transporter room, it'd been about 14 months since he was last under the guise of Commander Tr'Salek. His uniform was pristine and all of his various accoutrements and weapons were in their proper places. It wouldn't do well to be caught because someone's uniform had something in the wrong place. He stood and waited for the rest of the team to arrive, it was important that his bio-sign be the first aboard the shuttle. A bit dramatic maybe, but the shuttle did have some data aboard that shouldn't be in the hands of just anyone. It would be unfortunate if the small craft's singularity core overloaded and caused a spatial distortion.

Mike sat back in the CO’s chair of the Lexington, then glanced over at Greenwood, then back to Delair. He waited for the signal from the Romulan Shuttle that everyone had beamed over and they were ready to proceed. It was a simple signal, the Shuttle would simply turn on course for Gamma Crateris and go to warp. The Lexington, still cloaked, would follow.

Now, things had to play out as they would. Mike felt a little helpless, because at this point there was little he could do from this point until they Teams were back aboard.

K’Temoc and Roebuck arrived in the Transporter Room as they finished a private chat, and they both glanced at Slade. All members of both Teams had arrived as well, and K’Temoc spoke up.

“Okay, listen up. From here until we return to the Lexington, we’re on our own. Remember your mission and your training. You’re all Romulan Officers on an inspection of the Gamma Crateris facilities. This is a covert operation, we don’t want the Romulans to know we’ve been there, ever.”

K’Wor listened to his Uncle, then took a deep breath. This was his first covert mission and he was a little nervous, even if he’d never tell anyone.

K’Temoc looked around a moment, then looked back at Matthews, “Whenever you’re ready.”

Lee was standing there listening to everything dressed as a Romulan.

Alex was eager to get this over with. She moved closer to the transporter pad.

Slade nodded to K'Temoc with a smirk while he said, "I need to go over alone first to avoid a nasty explosion. Once I'm over and unlock the security systems, the rest of the team will be able to board."

After the other officer nodded Matthews stepped on the transporter pad and nodded to the man behind the console. Slade dematerialized from the Lexington and re-materialized aboard his shuttle after a few minutes of securing systems aboard the shuttle, he contacted the Lexington, "Matthews to K'Temoc. The rest of the team is free to transport aboard at your discretion, sir."

"Let's go." K'Temoc said to everyone gathered. After a moment they were all on the pad. K'Temoc looked around, then nodded to the Transporter Chief, "Energize."

Moment later, both teams were aboard the small Romulan craft. It was cramped spacing, but they were all there.

"Let's go Mister Matthews." K'Temoc said.
