Personality & Traits
General Overview | Anandra has a very warm, accepting personality as would befit a Starfleet Counselor. In her professional endeavors she is very attentive and more apt to observe and listen, while in her off-time she exudes high personality and a well equipped sense of wit, after you get to know her.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Her emotionally impulsive nature tends to get the best of her sometimes, whether it's chasing a romance that is doomed never to work out, or speaking out of turn in front of commanding officers when she feels a strong opposition or opinion (with reason, of course) in regards an ideal or circumstance. In short, she is very inclined to speak her mind, though one of her strengths lies in her ability to do so in a respectful, diplomatic manner when strong words are inappropriate.
Ambitions | Though her choices in Starfleet Academy lead her to the position of ship's counselor, Anandra has always dreamed of a future in diplomacy. She hopes that one day that dream will be realized, but for now she is quite content in being the best ship's counselor she can be. Another small ambition of hers is to write & complete at least one holo-novel in her lifetime.
Hobbies & Interests | History (particularly Earth and Vulcan) Music - Anandra plays the Vulcan Lute and the piano, and enjoys a wide variety of music native to countless cultures. She also sings but is too terrified ever to do it in front of anyone. Martial arts - Well trained in Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu and Isshinryu Karate, Klingon ground fighting tactics and Romulan hand-to-hand combat. Meditation Exercise/sporting activities Any kind of game (virtual, board game, etc) Reading & writing Art Has recently begun developing an interest in horticulture, is currently nursing a very healthy Bonzai spruce in her quarters. Wants to learn how to cook, but insists on putting it off until she has someone to cook for. |

Personal History | Anandra was raised by her father, an El-Aurian warp scientist. Her mother, a military neurosurgeon on transport to a neighboring system, died in an attack on her vessel when Anandra was very young. Despite her young age at the time of her mother's death, Anandra never quite learned to cope with the loss. She became a defiant, difficult to control child, and later a rebellious adult with little respect for authority. When the Borg attacked the El-Aurian home world in the late 23rd century, Anandra made a narrow escape using illegal means to procure a small spacecraft, convincing her father to come aboard. Their ship was not pursued and they managed to get all the way to the Lorentian system without issue, though their emergency supplies and rations had long since dwindled. They planned to pull into port on Risa and spend some time regaining their strength while they figured out what to do with their lives henceforth. Their time together on Risa had a big impact on their relationship, and Anandra as a whole. The near annihilation of their culture had begun to set in, and both were feeling more than a little lost. Anandra began to feel foolish and regretful over her behavior since her mother's death, and her father felt guilt over allowing his job to take his time away from his daughter as much as it had. The two spent several years on Risa, ultimately, and had the opportunity to meet people of many cultures and make many friends. Sal eventually remarried - and to Anandra's great surprise he followed his new mate to Betazed (he later died of a terminal illness, his wife at his side). It was at this time that Anandra realized she needed a direction in her own life. Having encountered many species on Risa, she had developed a fascination with many cultures, though she found few so fascinating as the Vulcans. Her restless nature implored her to get out, to explore, so it wasn't long before she set out on her own, and this time ended up on Vulcan. Almost immediately she began volunteering at a Vulcan infirmary, and it was her mentors there who urged her to look into the Federation, particularly Starfleet. Anandra preferred to avoid the rigid discipline of that lifestyle and eventually began studying Vulcan sociology. Over time she found that she had great difficulties adapting to the stoically logical culture of Vulcans and finding a niche in their society - maths and sciences were never strong points for her, despite her strong fascinations in those areas - so she ultimately traveled to Earth, where she hoped to find a higher purpose. Once again, she enrolled in volunteer work and later applied to a higher learning institute to continue her studies in sociology. She soon excelled in her studies and went on to expand them to include Psychology as well, and, finding that she thrived among the strength, tenacity, and powerful emotions of these people, it eventually became difficult for her to resist the allure of a life of exploration with Starfleet. She was accepted to the academy where she found once again that she excelled academically, and later she earned a commission aboard one of their ships. |
