Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Pegasus, Bridge
Timeline: Following, 'Open Fire'
Pegasus, Bridge
Mike watched the Battleship on the main viewer for a few moments as it drifted.
"Report"
"Their power grid is nearly one-hundred percent offline. When the Saratoga and Sutherland knocked out their primary command and control link from their Bridge to Engineering, it overloaded the nearby ventral power distribution hub which sent a feed back across their entire power grid. It'll take them hours just to get power back, longer for weapons and engines. They're effectively neutralized." Archer reported.
Mike smirked, "All right...Alex, scan the outpost."
Bremer and K'Temoc walked up the ramp and stood beside Harrison at Tactical.
"They have shields up." K'Temoc reported.
"Not for long." Bremer replied as he hit the comm button.
"Pegasus to Colonel Greene." Greene was the acting CO of the 181st Tactical Fighter Wing.
"Greene here sir."
"Colonel, report status." Bremer requested.
"We've lost twelve fighters, another eight are damaged." Greene reported.
"Understood. Have all damaged fighters land aboard the Saratoga. Then, I want you to lead a strafing run at the Outpost below. We're transmitting you coordinates of their shield generators." Bremer replied.
A few moments later, Greene responded. "Aye sir, I'll lead a flight of six Valkyries and six Redemptions. All other fighters will maintain combat air patrol. Greene out."
Bremer watched the screen as the flight of Valkyries and Redemptions broke off and headed for the planet. As they neared, the Jem Hadar opened fire with their planetary defense weapons. One of the Valkyries was quickly vaporized, but the rest got though. The Valkyries opened fire first with their phasers weakening the shields, then the Redemptions came in low and fired their micro-quantum torpedoes.
"The Outpost's shields are down." K'Temoc said with a smile. "The fighters are now knocking out both of the Outpost's defensive arrays."
Mike looked over the sensor readings. The Dominion Outpost had been built right beside the remains of the Iconian Outpost that Captain Picard, Data, and Worf had visited twenty-three years before that Picard destroyed to prevent additional Iconian Probes from launching. Bremer ran an additional scan, and found an open cargo bay that was attached to the main Outpost but out of the way enough. He made sure no one was nearby, then tapped the comm again.
"Pegasus to all ships. Ground personnel stand by to beam down at the following coordinates." He tapped in the coordinates.
Essex, Bridge
"Coordinates rrreceived." said R'nard.
VAdm. T'Lar looked over at Lokran, "Looks like you're on. Take a security team with you and beam down to the outpost." She watched him leave.
Saratoga Bridge
Tapping his combadge, Major Hurd said, ''All Marines, I repeat, all Marines prepare to commence ground combat operations''
Lee turned and nodded to Hurd:"Ok Major it's your time to shine. Need you and your Marines to beam down to the surface and join the ground force. Welcome to take Sgt. Maal with you if you want."
'Aye Aye sir.'' Id rather that Sgt. Maal remain aboard ship if that is fine with you?''
Lee nodded:"Good luck Major"
Standing, Major Hurd saluted the Captain, and said ''Semper Fi sir!!''
Lee half turned:"Ensign Bartan come take over up here as XO. Sgt. Maal take over at tactical."
Saith nodded as she said "Yes, sir!" She secured her station and moved. She was not sure what The Captain was doing making her acting XO, but he was the one giving the orders so she did as she was told.
Maal nodded:"Yes sir." He walked over towards tactical.
Lee turned to Saith:"Ensign I want you to keep an eye on our ground force just in case the shit hits the fan too bad and we have to get them out of there."
"Sgt. Maal keep an eye out there just in case some ships try to come along and suprise us."
Maal's hands flew over the controls scanning the area:"Yes sir."
Lee blew out a breath and touched his fore head for a moment, the medic had told him he had a bit of a concussion but he would worry about that after the mission.
Defiant
Odo lead his Jem Hardar Commandos to the Transporter Bay and within moments they joined Hurd's Marines on the ground.
Outpost
Second Kriiki took position at the door with Captain Lennox and Gunnery Sergeant Agtx. The big Gorn Gunnery Sergeant looked over the Jem Hadar Second for a moment. Both of them locked eyes, then they gave each other a respectful nod as they guarded the entrance.
K'Wor had beamed down with a Security Team from the Avenger. He looked around and saw Lieutenant Commander Lokran. He walked over and reported in.
"Commander, I have a twenty man Security Team from the Avenger."
"I will lead them. Let us go." said R'nard.
Pegasus, Bridge
"Pegasus to Defiant."
"Sisko here, go ahead Admiral."
"Take command of the Task Force sir, I'm beaming down." Bremer replied, then quickly closed the comm before Ben could object.
Mike glanced over at Harrison, Alex was giving him a concerned yet annoyed look.
"Not a word." Mike said with a smile. "You have the Bridge Captain."
Mike glanced at K'Temoc then the two men started for the turbolift. Harrison looked over at Varn sogh at Mission Ops and pointed. The big Klingon Security Officer knew what Alex wanted and he followed Bremer and K'Temoc to the turbolift and joined the Away Team.
Harrison exchanged seats with another officer as she took the command seat. She wasn't happy that Bremer included himself in the ground team but she understood. Part of her wished that she was down there as well where the action was.
"Captain Harrison to Dr. Mclintock."
"Dr. Mclintock here."
"I just wanted to give you a heads up. Our team has beamed down to the outpost. Make sure that your medical team is ready."
"We are standing by. Mclintock out."
Harrison leaned back into the chair and prayed that they wouldn't need them.
Essex, Bridge
VAdm. T'Lar turned to her XO and joked, "Maybe they'll save me a Jem Hadar to beat the crap out of."
Andrew looked her and smiled, "You never know, Admiral, you never know".
For the Essex, apart from Lt Cmdr Lokran, it was taking stock. Andrew tapped his comm badge, "All decks Status Report".
Rachael was in sickbay. "Sickbay is ready for whatever you need."
Outpost
A few minutes later, Bremer, K'Temoc, and Varn materialized on the surface, among the Marines, Security, and Commandos.
"All right, listen up." Bremer said, getting everyone's attention. As everyone stepped over, Mike looked over at First Ramata'tar.
"Do you have layout of this place?"
He nooded and handed Bremer, Lokran, and Hurd a PADD each. "We took scans from the Defiant, this is a standard Dominion Outpost."
Mike looked at the layout, something caught his eye. "What's this area here, there's no details."
"There's a damping field in operations there, we couldn't get any data." Ramata'tar replied.
"What's usually in an area like this?" K'Temoc asked.
Ramata'tar replied, "It might hold a cloning facility, weapons research..."
"...or a POW holding area?" Mike asked.
Ramata'tar nodded.
"All right. Major Hurd, take your Marines and secure the Command Center and upper barracks. I want Deyos taken alive. Odo, I want you and half your Commandos to assist the Major." Bremer ordered.
Odo nodded. He pointed out half of the Jem Hadar Commandos, led by the Third, then he and the Commandos formed up with the Marines.
Looking at his men, Major Hurd said, ''Check weapons, and let’s get this show on the road, First stop is the Command Center.'' With that Major Hurd's force moved off towards the Objective
"R'nard, I want you to take the Security forces and secure the R&D area and lower barracks. We need to secure whatever Iconian secrets and technology they recovered. Take Second Kriiki and the rest of the Commandos with you." Bremer ordered.
"I'm on it." said R'nard. This was what he was trained for.
"K'Temoc, Varn, Ensign K'Wor and half of your Security team will investigate the unknown area, the other half go with Commander Lokran. Ramata'tar you're with us." Bremer added.
R'nard moved out with his team. This was going to be rough, but he was well-trained.
Bremer checked the safety on his phaser rifle, "Let's move out."
USS Sutherland Bridge
Andy sat on the command chair, the problem with the phasers solved and said " Cdr. Brisslan prepare to support the ground action."
"Aye Captain," Tressa replied, turning to leave the Bridge.
"Thanks Cdr.", he said as he turned to Lt. Gallo at operations "Lt. I want a full report on the phasers I want them 100% operational please"
"The engineering staff is on figuring out the issue Captain as we speak. Will monitor progress as it come available through updates." Holly reported from the operations station.
"Cdr. Brisslan please report to Sickbay ASAP... LT. Gallo please take the XO seat"
It was with that request that she yielded operations to another officer and went to the XO spot on the bridge next to the Captain. She had to switch her mind set and now focused on the entire ship rather than just one or two areas. Holly was quite comfortable with the shift as this wasn't the first time she had to take up the position on a ship before.
<<"Brislan to Bridge, Sickbay is standing by.">>
Outpost
Major Hurd and his team made good time to their objectives. Taking up positions around the Command Center, the Major whispered to Odo and said, '' Take half of your men around back to cut off any chance of escape or counter-attack''. Nodding, Odo and half of his men slipped off, whisper-quiet, around the back. Turning to the others he said, '' When we get in here, expect heavy resistance, but remember the Admiral's orders that Deyos is to be taken alive, understood?'' The men nodded affirmative, and Hurd said, '' Right, now draw back down the hill a bit, I am going to wire these doors to blow.''
A few moments later, Major Hurd ran back down the hill, with an open tricorder in his hands. ''FIRE IN THE HOLE'', he said as detonated the explosives, causing the sky to light up like a Fourth of July fireworks show.
Captain Lennox, Gunnery Sergeant Agtx, and three other Marines moved forward. They had breached the outer area of the Control Room but Deyos wasn't there. As the smoke cleared, seven Jem Hadar opened fire. One of the Marines took a hit in the shoulder and fell. A medic rushed up to treat him as another Marine was hit by several polarion pulses fired by the Jem Hadar and he was killed.
Lennox and Agtx returned fire and took out three of the Jem Hadar as Gunnery Sergent Ermy stepped forward and tossed a stun grenade. As the Jem Hadar stumbled the three Marines opened fire and took out the remaining guards.
"Clear!" They yelled together.
"Medic to Sutherland, we have wounded to beam up." The medic said.
<<"Brislan here, we have your coordinates. Energize when ready.">>
Sergent Taz, a Krazzle, pointed to Corporals Nas and Schmedt and Private T'ork. "With me, we'll guard the rrrearrr."
Nas, a Nausican took the left, T'ork a lean mean Klingon took the right. Taz found an access ladder and leaped up, climbed it to take an elevated position to get a better view in case anyone tried to attack them from behind. Schmidt, a Human from Germany, stepped forward set up a portable forcefield generator to block the corridor, then he fell back to the defense position and took position too.
Once their rear was covered, Lennox reported to Hurd. "Ready to precede Major."
Major Hurd said, sternly, ''Aye aye, let’s get going then''
Making his way around to the upper part of the barracks. Slowing coming up on a door, Major Hurd said, ''Deyos has to be in there, and if he is, expect heavy resistance.'' After he finished, Hurd began pulling something called DET-C0RD, and began wrapping it around the frame of the door. When he finished, he motioned for everyone to cover their head.
A few seconds later, the det-cord blew the door out. Almost instantly, a massive amount of fire began pouring out. Major Hurd's men had also begun to return fire as well. Through all the weapons fire, Hurd caught the sound of a voice, a voice that could only have come from one person. ''Turning to the Marines to his left, he said, '' I want you and Odo's teams to completely surround this building, and activate transporter scramblers now!''' Hitting his combadge, Major Hurd said, “Major Hurd to Admiral Bremer, Sir we have come under extremely heavy fire from the upper barracks, and I heard Deyos's voice in there.
<< “Understood. Weapons on heavy stun and proceed with caution. We’ll try to make our way back to your location after we finish our sweep, Bremer out.”>>
Odo stepped forward, and yelled to Deyos and his Jem Hadar, “Hold your fire!”
“A founder!” One of Deyos’s Jem Hadar said as he stopped shooting, but Deyos ordered his Second to kill him.
Odo’s eyes widened as the Jem Hadar that had stopped shooting was vaporized. Then Deyos’s Jem Hadar Second fired at Odo, missing only by centimeters. Odo’s own Jem Hadar Commandos returned fire, protecting Odo.
The Marines continued firing too. Captain Lennox and Gunnery Sergeant tossed in stun grenades as Gunnery Sergeant Agtx, Major Hurd, and several other Marines rushed in with the Jem Hadar Commandos. One of the Jem Hadar grabbed Agtx, but the Gorn quickly shoved the Jem Hadar back. He then slashed at the Jem Hadar with his claws, ripping into his flesh. The Jem Hadar pulled his pistol and fired, hitting Agtx. Hurd watched him fall.
Odo changed into a small rodent and weaved his way behind Deyos. As he morphed back to his usual Humanoid appearance, he grabbed Deyos’s arms. “Stand down your men!”
The Marines and Commandos covered Deyos’s Jem Hadar, but a few continued to fight. Three Marines were stabbed with beyonets, two others along with two of the Commandos were shot before all of the defenders were disarmed.
Medics rushed in, “I can’t stop the bleeding, the anti-coagulant is too much. Request permission to beam the wounded up?”
One of the wounded was the big Gorn, Agtx.
“You’re going to be fine, it’s just a shoulder wound.” The medic told him just before he was beamed up to the Sutherland.
Meanwhile, Bremer, K'Temoc, Varn, Ramata'tar, K'Wor, and the team men in his team were moving toward the unknown area. They had met no resistance...so far...
"Shouldn't there be more Jem Hadar here, we haven't seen anyone." Varn asked as he looked around.
"I was thinking the same thing, it's almost too easy." K'Temoc added.
Ramata'tar replied, "The Vorta may have sent the Jem Hadar to protect vital areas. The Control Center, R&D, the barracks, or they are where we are going."
"Or they are lying in wait, setting a trap." K'Wor added. "What do Jem Hadar need with Barracks anyway, they don't sleep."
"Equipment storage, staging areas, mission briefings." Ramata'tar added before Bremer cut him off.
"Hold here...there's a room ahead we have to pass through to get to the corridor that leads to our target. Crewman, scan the room."
Two Security personnel moved forward and started scanning the area, but their tricoders didn't pick up anything. As the two Security men relaxed for a moment, eight Jem Hadar un-shrouded themselves and opened fire. The two Security men were nearly cut in half from the weapons fire.
Bremer, K'Temoc, Varn, and Ramata'tar returned fire and eliminated four of the Jem Hadar. Bremer and Ramata'tar then ducked to the right of the door way, K'Temoc and Varn to the left. Bremer then motioned K'Wor and the rest of his team to take cover behind some crates and containers they had just passed outside of a cargo locker.
The remaining four Jem Hadar saw K'Wor's team taking a defensive position and they rushed forward. Bremer, K'Temoc, Varn, and Ramata'tar set their rifles down and drew their bladed weapons. As the Jem Hadar rushed passed them, they attacked.
Ramata'tar grabbed one of his Jem Hadar brothers by the shoulder. His sharp combat knife then cut though his 'white' tube. Ramata'tan then spun him around and stabbed him in the eye before slamming him against the wall. He grabbed the Jem Hadar's head with both hands and twisted, snapped his neck.
K'Temoc took his mek'leth and in a smooth swing sliced into the Jem Hadar's neck, he continued his movement, and on the up swing sliced though his back. The Jem Hadar dropped like a rag-doll.
Varn took his twin d'k taghs and thrust them both into his Jem Hadar's sides, he then spun him around. As the Dominion Solider turned, Varn crossed his arm at neck height, and in a clean stroke pulled his arm apart. The blades sliced though the Jem Hadar's neck and he spun to the deck.
Bremer grabbed his Jem Hadar and pulled him back, slamming him against the wall. Then used his mek'leth and swung diagonally down and across his front. Bremer let his momentum continue and he turned his back toward the Jem Hadar as he spun his Klingon short-sword in his hand so the blade was facing back. Then in a power thrust, drove his arms back and the mek'leth's blade drove deep into the Jem Hadar's abdomen. Bremer then thrust up as he turned the blade before withdrawing it. Bremer turned around to face the Jem Hadar as he slumped to the deck.
K'Wor and his team moved forward as the other four sheathed their blades.
"K'Wor, set a portable force-field at the room's entrance so no one can follow us. Make sure the emitter is fully facing the doorway." Bremer told his son.
"Reports on you appear to be accurate, you are a skilled warrior." Ramata'tar said to Bremer.
Mike looked back at him for a moment, "I'll take that as a complement."
"Let's move." K'Temoc quickly said as he pointed at a Petty Officer and an Ensign, "You two take point."
