Mission: Episode 101 - Peace During War
Location: Holodeck 2
Timeline: MD05 1445 hrs onwards

ON:

The time of the wedding reception had arrived, Ariana had been grateful for Vox's help in setting up Holodeck 2 for the reception. She'd wanted it set in the grand hall of an old castle and it looked at treat, she was sure her father would love it. It had a modern day twist with all the decorations and modern decorated tables. She'd chosen to remain in her long red, somewhat daring bridesmaid dress as she liked the fact that Cameron liked her in it, and it made it easier for her to breast feed baby Stacie which she did in private anyway.

Braxton was amongst the first to leave the ceremony. He headed to the hall hoping to get a chance to speak to Ariana. As luck would have it she was there with Stacie. He was relived that he had a private moment. Splendora hadn't been at the wedding but she'd caught him before he'd left for it. They had talked and he had made some decisions. He still limped a little from his battle wound, a temporary thing, according to Hades. "Hello Ariana." He said. He has glad that even though he'd had a bit too much to drink his words were not slurred. He'd sobered with the decision he'd made.

"Hello Mikhail" Ariana smiled warmly. She was glad he felt that he could still speak to her, she'd felt a connection since the day they met and more so since she'd learned about her resemblance to Nicole. "Did you like the wedding?"

He shrugged. "It's a wedding." He sighed. "I wish to speak to you."

"By all means, let's take a seat." She motioned for him to follow her to a table towards the back just incase of other arrivals.

He followed her and as they sat down he reached into his pocket producing a little box. He'd picked it out for his own daughter but had never had the opportunity to give. "For Stacie, when she is a bit older." He opened the box and held it for Ariana to see. It was a latinum unicorn with precious stones.

Ariana looked at the present open mouthed. "Oh Mikhail...it's beautiful!! Thank you so much!!" She had to wipe away a couple of tears. "Are you sure you want to part with this?"

"Yes. It was for my daughter and I have held on too long." He placed it on the table. "I came to say goodbye."

"Goodbye!!" Ariana had known that this might happen but it was painful to hear nonetheless. "Where...are you going?"

He sighed. "I will be working with Hades and Splendora. They've asked me to partner with them in a new business. I've left my resignation letter on your father's desk so he should get it soon. I'll be around a bit longer but out of uniform for the most part."

Ariana nodded, her smile had all but disappeared. She'd cared for him since the day she truly got to know him. " Will you be leaving the station after that or will you come and go? "

He shrugged. "I am not sure. Probably come and go." He sighed. "It will be a change but I can't continue the way I have. Your father made me see that."

Ariana nodded. "Promise me you'll drop by and see us from time to time?" She offered a small glimmer of a smile. "I'd like Stacie to know you. You did save us both."

"I will try." He stood. "I should go. I have a few more things to wrap up."

Ariana stood and looked around before doing something she'd always wanted to do. She leant forward and gave him a loving kiss, her fingers resting on his cheek, before stepping back and letting him go. "Take Care Mikhail. I'll miss you."

"Take care Ariana." As he turned and walked out he knew that he'd not only said goodbye to Ariana but to Nicole and all that was. Splendora had been right. It was time for a new chapter.

Ariana watched Braxton go, for a moment it felt like a weight had been lifted from her. She frowned as she looked across the holodeck, rubbing her eyes as she could have sworn she saw a woman very much like herself disappear into nothingness. "Nicole??" She shook her head, it couldn't have been, or could it?"

Vox, who was always happy to help out with many things, especially if Ariana asked him to, was standgettin one side of the holodeck with his pad going over the settings for the program. It had to be perfect and, more importantly, be glitch-free.

Mike and Janice mingled for a bit, chatting with a few people before they had a moment alone.

"Want to get a bit to eat?" Mike asked.

"No, I want to dance." Janice replied as she took Mike by the hand and pulled him to the dance floor. They wrapped their arms around each other and began to dance to the music slowly.

Hades and Kalani had stayed for the reception while Rol had gone back to his quarter. Kalani, who'd shaken off her tiredness after returning from the trip, lead Hades to the dance floor. "I missed you."

Hades smiled and held his wife in his arms. "And I you. This was a beautiful wedding. I believe they will be quite happy together."

Coleman had walked over to the bar, where he saw several of his shipmates. He smiled as he watched the evening festivities and ordered his drink. He had lived what most humanoids would consider several lifetimes, but married none during that time. So, he was always excited when he had the chance to see his crewmates marry and be in love.

Kaden was sitting at the table holding a glass of Saurian Brandy in one hand his fork in the other he had eaten half of his plate size steak and of the asparagus. When nervous in big gatherings of people he tended to focus on food to keep him occupied. Kaden wasn't much of the type to mingle as he was always quiet and felt like a third wheel. Freya was more of the people person than he was he just saw himself being there just to get out of their quarters away from his comics.

Freya had gone home to change into her party dress, she’d purposely worn one of Kaden’s favourite dresses which showed her curves and assets in all the right places. She knew he would love seeing her in it. Returning to the party she smiled as she walked over to him. “Hey handsome, do you think your wife will be turning heads tonight?”

Kaden took a double take seeing Freya in the dress she always looked amazing in that dress. He was going to miss her wearing that for awhile while their kid was in the oven baking so to speak. "Definitely!" He set his glass and fork down. "Almost tempted to take you right here right now." He added jokingly.

"Oh really?" Freya grinned. "I don’t think Doctor Hades would appreciate me exhausting myself again!”

Kaden grinned as took a quick sip of his brandy. "Perhaps you should of just came in naked." He joked before kissing her on the cheek. "All kidding, you look stunning as always and you still will as our kid gets bigger inside you."

"Thank you Imzadi." Her smile beamed as she returned Kaden's kiss.

Christina walked into the holodeck and stood open mouthed, it was laid out so beautifully she was astounded by how lovely it looked. "Oh David...this is amazing! I have to thank Ariana and Vox for this."

Nodding his head, Hurd said, "That we must, this is perfect". Turning his head to look around, he said, "I wonder if Admiral Bremer is planning the Klingon Tradition of having us attacked?" Seeing the look she gave him, he quickly responded, "I was just kidding, it's a symbolic thing anyhow", he finished letting out a Bellow of laughter.

"Oh you!!" Christina laughed. "Just you wait until I get you home tonight!!"

"Oh my dear, I am tempted to go right now, but that would be rude", he said kissing her. "Shall we go and greet our guests?"

"Of course my love" Chrissy smiled as she took David's arm ready to go and talk with everyone.

Ariana walked around greeting Nd talking to the wedding guests, as she approached Vox she smiled warmly. "Hi Rae, you have done a fantastic job of the holodeck! Thank you!!"

"It was no trouble at all really. I enjoy creating holodeck programs." Vox replied.

Just then Christina walked over, she was grinning from ear to ear. "You must be Vox?" She smiled as she looked at Ariana then back at Vox.

"I am indeed." He said with a smile.

"I wanted to say thank you for everything you've done here." She motioned around the holodeck. "This is amazing!"

"Thank you. Holodeck programming is a hobby of mine. You should see my Wizard of Oz simulation sometime."he replied.

"That sounds like fun" Chrissy nodded. "Remind me and I might just take you up on that."

"I will. " Vox replied

Chrissy nodded and smiled looking between Ariana and Vox. "I'll leave you two to it." With that she headed off to mingle and find her husband.

Deela and Jack seemed to be attached at the hip. They hadn't left each other's side since the wedding. Deela glanced around, admiring the setup. She was impressed. She smiled at Jack then whispered in his ear, "We have got to find out who put this all together." Although they hadn't discussed their plans fully, she was taking mental notes for future references.

Jack smiled, as he was impressed with how good the simulation looked. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to put this together and he was amazed at how good it looked. He also knew that Deela was taking notes as well with plans for their own wedding due to get back on course soon. "Absolutely, we'll make some discreet enquiries later, let's enjoy ourselves."

As they walked through the reception, taking in the various details, Jack decided to speak up. "I was thinking, once I'm back to full health and cleared for duty, I'd like to take you and the kids on some leave...or just you and I on some leave...a chance to get away from it all whilst we are in some kind of peacetime and try to get back to some normality. What do you say?" he offered.

Vox glanced around the simulation and, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the slightest flickering in the decorations on the far wall. "hmmm it's not meant to do that." he muttered under his breath. He moved to the far end of the holodeck where no one was around. "Computer Arch," he commanded.

The arch interface for the holodeck appeared. "Computer, run a level 1 diagnostic on this simulation. Are there any anomalies in the decoration subroutine? "

'Working, standby' The computer replied.

After a few minutes... 'Diagnostic completed. Minor anomaly detected in decoration subroutine. Running patch.' The computer advised. The decorations disappeared and reappeared in a fraction of a second.

'Patch applied. Systems normal.' The computer advised.

"Thank you. Close the arch." Vox requested.

The arch disappeared. With his padd in hand, Vox went back into the guests and began to mingle.

Walking over to Ariana, holding his brides hand, Hurd said, "Hello, Daughter of mine, how goes it?

Ariana was enjoying some time with Cameron and Stacie when her father and step-mother walked over. "Just wonderfully dad, Congratulations to both of you! It was a lovely ceremony." She turned to Cameron. "Cameron you haven't met Christina yet have you?"

"unfortunately I have not had the pleasure as of yet." Said Cameron

"Cameron Wayne, meet Christina Rivera-Hurd." Ariana looked at Christina. "Christina, this is my fiancé Cameron Wayne."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Cameron." Chrissy smiled warmly.

"Likewise Christina. I must say you and the general make a great couple. Maybe you can smooth out a few of his rough spots." Said Cameron jokingly

While Chrissy was greeting Cameron, Hurd had one more special surprise for her, and for his guests. And for that he needed Vox. Walking though the crowd, he finally found him, and said, "Mr. Vox, a moment please."

"How can I help you sir?" Vox asked.

Smiling he put a hand on the Man's shoulder and said, "Mr. Vox, first off, I want to thank you for all of this, it is great, and I am in your debt for it". Pausing for a moment he smiled and continued, "Vox, if you know anything about me you know I'm a bit old fashioned especially when it comes to celebrations and military hardware". "So I want to ask you, would there be a way we could shift things in this Holodeck around without people noticing so I can do a flyover in a F-22 Raptor , I assume you know what kind of 21st century Fighter Jet that is right?" Letting silence fall for a few moments, he asked, looking Vox in the eyes, "So could we do that for my Bride and my Guests?"

"Thank you sir. I do what I can to help and I think we can, yes. If you glance over at the far end of the simulation, you will see the facade of some large doors leading out to an open-air balcony. Now if I modify things just a little so that the balcony is bigger and so can cater for all the guests, we can then ask them to proceed out there for a surprise." Vox replied tapping on his padd, adjusting the holodeck simulation.

"Very Good Mr Vox, now, I am going to need that Jet fueled up, I need a flight suit and helmet, and to take off its gonna need a 21000 runway". "Also, will you do me the honour of escorting me to the Jet?"

"Gladly. I will programme the holodeck for your requirements so that they are off to the side of the current setting and then we need to get everyone onto the outdoor area to witness the flyby. " After a few moments of tapping on his padd and a call of the arch. Vox was ready.

"Sir, if we go through that red door over there, you will find a room with your flight suit and helmet. Then, when ready, we will go through the final door to the jet on the runway. Once we go through the first door, the simulation will make an announcement for guests to go outside for something special. Shall we?" Vox said motioning towards the red door.

"Mr. Vox, please lead the way and show me what you have set up, so if I need anything else, you can add it on the fly", he finished, placing a hand on Vox's shoulder.

"Gladly" Vox replied leading the way into the next area. The flight suit was hung up ready to be put on and through large windows could be seen an F22 Raptor ready and fuelled. "Is this satisfactory?" Vox asked.

"Yes, yes it is, he said smiling. Turning to him, he said, "Vox, your going to be my ATC, às well as drawing attention to banners on the tals of the plane, that ok with you?

"What exactly is an ATC?" Vox asked

"Air Traffic Control", Hurd smiled warmly. "Now let's get this show on the road shall we?", Hurd said gesturing to the waiting plane.

"Definitely. Ready when you are sir." Vox replied.

Meanwhile Freya was starting to feel tired, it had been a lovely wedding and reception but she had Doctor’s orders not to overdo it. She rested her head against Kaden’s arm as she held his hand. “Would you mind if we head home? I’m tired.”

Kaden finished his cake and wine before looking around. "Yeah, why not, been a long day for us as is." He replied.

Nodding Freya gave Ariana a wave to say they were going, before taking hold of Kaden's arm. She'd enjoyed the wedding but her recovery was more important than partying the night away.

After suiting up and running pre-flight checks, Hurd said through the intercom ,"This is Raptor 1-1, all systems green, taking off now, Vox, get their attention".

"Understood sir." Vox replied. He taps a console to activate a tannoy. "Ladies and Gentlemen please venture outside and prepare for a real treat."

Flying at barley 225 feet over his guests head's, Hurd flipped a pair of switces on the Raptors control panel. One read, in Giant letters, "JUST MARRIED", the other switch dumped a giant cloud of glitter over top of them, which floated down gently as snow.

There was a large round of applause and some Oohhs and Aahhs from some in the crowd. Chrissy was enthralled and couldn't wait for her husband to return to her, it had been a magical day and she was looking forward to spending the rest of her life with her new husband.
