Wing Squad 3 and 4 continued their assigned patrols to secure the marine landings. The CAG looked to his First and Second to complete that role on the ground.
USS Kearsarge
Freya stood alongside Braxton, this was the moment she’d been dreading. Taking a deep breath she ramped up her mental barriers as much as she could so as not to be immediately overwhelmed by emotions. Her concentration was on the wounded and that’s what she was going to put her full focus on.
Kaden could feel the runabout shake as it headed to the surface he wasn’t sure if the dampeners were on or not maybe even worse was being fired at by the Remans as it flew down. He took his helmet and placed it on his head as he watched the HUD activate gripping his rifle tightly he took a few deep breaths getting himself ready for what laid beyond the doors of the craft.
Freya could see her husband preparing, picking up her own helmet she put it on and prepared herself for the minute the doors opened.
Hurd nodded at Freya, pulling down and securing his helmet as he did so. Running final checks, he was completely dressed in his jet black combat armour, dinged and dented as it was.
Freya took a deep breath as she looked at Hurd. Nervous as she was she wasn’t going to let anyone down. She looked towards Braxton she could see he was psyched up and ready to go. “How do you stay so calm?” She took a deep breath. “I’m dreading this!”
He shrugged, "I have done this a long time. I know what to expect more or less. The key is not to think about the possibilities, be in the moment." She checked his weapons one more time.
Kaden tapped his comm unit on his armour, “Captain Ross to fleet, I need a status on enemy movements is the LZ clear to set up a perimeter? I need to know if we are going to be under fire and I need that information five minutes ago.” He demanded.
Hearing Ross over the comm net, Hurd replied, "Ross, this is General Hurd, you can expect one hell of a firefight as soon as those doors open so be ready", he finished, pulling back the charging handle on his M-4 and chambering a round.
Kaden groaned as he realized all his plans he had come up with was now shot to shreds he was going to have to plan things out as they go. “Aye Sir.” He looked at his troopers in the runabout with him. “Alright, boy and girls expect heavy fire when we land!” The runabout shook again but it didn’t phase Kaden at all as he gripped his phaser rifle tightly.
Braxton stood at ready. He moves so that he was between Freya and what was sure to be a rough start. His protective instincts were screaming as the same time that he was putting out up his walls. He looked to his left to see Tole checking his phaser rifle. "Set?"
Tole smiled, "You got it!" The two had become friends quickly. Tole had even volunteered to help with the redo of the medical Marine unit. They had talked about much. Tole was a Betazoid Trill mix, joined, he'd fought...or the symbiont had fought in many battles.
USS Mercy
Andrea looked towards Hades. “Commander the Kearsarge is readying to deploy marines. Marine medics are prepped and ready to first to the wounded.”
Hades gave a nod. "Good. T'Mira. You have the bridge I'm going to suit up."
T'Mira sighed, "I might quote Starfleet regulations about the CO going down into the unknown but....you'd just ignore it."
He smiled a little. "Absolutely. You have the bridge."
T'Mira sighed and motioned for a replacement at tactical. She sat down in the chair. "I want constant monitoring on our teams. If anything goes south I want them all up."
USS Mercy, Transporter Room 1
Waiting was probably the worst part of anything. Assembled within the transporter room, the medical staff - doctors and nurses alike - had no other choice. Until the marines gave the all clear then they would have no alternative. You could only prepare so much...
Crouched down, her kit on the first step leading up to the transporter platform, Doctor Corrigan nevertheless did one final check. It was completely unnecessary, yet it was something to focus her energy on for the time being. And after the last twenty four hours she needed that focus.
When the doors to the transporter room opened, she did not even look over her shoulder. Knowing who it was even as the new arrival came to join her. "Going rogue already?" she asked, not breaking her concentration as she worked methodically through the equipment and supplies. She didn't sound surprised or annoyed as she added, "I have a spare kit if you need one. I didn't bring any spare nurses though."
Hades gave a nod. "Not to worry. You're running things down there. I'm just a spare set of hands for triage and an extra surgeon. My sister has the bridge and is no doubt spinning in the chair."
"You said it didn't spin," she accused with a grin as she pushed the spare kit into his hands.
"Apparently there is a brake on it. The button was purple so not as tempting as red to push."
Resisting the temptation to say something, Carolyn returned her attention to her kit as she rearranged some of the equipment before sealing the kit back up. "You may not know how to work the big chair properly," she said as she stood up, "but I'm glad you'll be lending a hand."
USS Ark Royal
With the Ark Royal in formation with the other starships, Jack knew that he had to deploy his ground team along with the marines and the medics, to ensure of what the damage was at the outpost and also how many teams would be needed whilst there were still combatants in the area.
This was a situation he still wasn't happy with, however, with Remans possibly on the ground. Once he was agreed with the situation, Jack called his Senior Officers to the Conference Room.
Chloe was the first person to the Conference room and waited for everyone to arrive.
Holly made her way into the Conference room and nodded to those already present. She had a feeling as to why Commander Solomon had called everyone to the meeting, but she wanted to see for herself first hand what the outcome would be.
Ballard and Blackthorne arrived and acknowledged Commander Solomon. Quan came in a moment later.
Once everyone arrived, Jack got to the point and fast. "Very well, we are in formation with the fleet and I need a team of Engineers and Ops personnel to go down with the marines on the first drop," he explained.
"But let me be very clear. Those that go on the first drop are to stay behind the marines and to follow their orders. This will be a hot situation with the frontline being established. Once this is done, I want an assessment of the outposts situation and what we can do to render assistance. No Heroics. You do the job and you get back here."
Looking around the room, he continued. "I'm happy to take volunteers at the moment, but if I need to choose people, then I will."
Tass looked up. "I'll go!" She wasn't a fighter but she'd help if she could.
Jack looked over at the young officer and smiled. "Thank you, that's one," he answered. Looking around the room, Jack was careful that he would have to start choosing people. "So, is anyone else willing to volunteer to go down?
Stepping forward, Holly made her presence known. "I volunteer for the team, Captain. Your place as Commanding Officer should be here for now, on board the Ark Royal, as per Starfleet regulations," she explained. "Once the all clear is given, I'll contact you."
Jack understood why Gillo was making the situation clear and took on board her reminder of Starfleet Regulations. "Agreed, welcome to the team," he said.
