Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi sat down at the conn station as she smiled
as old memories she thought long buried came back to her along with some
memories that made her feel like she could reach out, cross the bonds of the universe and touch the face of the Terran god.

Torilla tapped the display before her as she quickly set things up to the way she liked. "Some ships were meant to fly.." she looked up. "So... young lady, you ready to try on your new shoes and dance for me sweetie?" she inquired and while she didn't expect a response, she knew the spirit of the Yorktown had heard her request.

Torilla slowly cracked her knuckles as she made herself comfortable at the helm as she gently ran her fingers across the top of the helm console. "Soon baby... soon." as a smile graced her delicate features.

Meanwhile Lieutenant Siaxx Dvald walked into the tiny sickbay which only held three biobeds contained within as she smiled and suddenly started laughing and within seconds, the hallways for the sections around sickbay could hear the mad insane cackling sound of a woman who had snapped.

Siaxx stood in sickbay, isolated and alone as she shook her head. "No... this will not do." she sighed softly as she went over to the master computer terminal and at her touch it came to life. "Computer interface with the Starbase mainframe, access medical database and download all medical files related to present crew roster of USS Yorktown as listed under the commissioning ceremony"

"Understood, downloading medical files now." the computer responded as
Siaxx pulled a chai to her as she began downloading the relevant medical data she might need for the mission that was coming.

Meanwhile in Engineering, Lieutenant Tom Lasky turned as he picked up a PADD as he shifted his attention to the other four engineers present with him.

"Well folks... We're the crew that gets to see what this young lady can do... so treat her nicely, the name Yorktown is a proud one and we will add our own chapter to her legacy.... so lets do this nice and slow" he explained as he looked at Blackthorne and then at the other five engineers. "Lets go do this... Chief would you mind seeing to the core."

"Aye Lieutenant." Blackthorne replied. While his skills were more along the lines of damage control, he knew what made a warp core tick, and he was eager to see what this ship could do.

Davis, give him a hand. Parker check the other engine systems, Fredricks, check the internal grids and Smith, help him.... I'll check the Tactical and Defense systems." he commented with a smile. "Lets go to work."

Meanwhile on the Bridge, K'Temoc had taken his time, looking over the ship's key systems one more time...but now it was time to fly. He looked around the Bridge and saw everyone at their assigned positions.

"Nechayev, signal Starbase 400 Operations that we're ready to depart." K'Temoc ordered.

"Yes sir." Natia said as she hooked her chair into the controls and sent for the all clear signal. "They confirm we can launch, Captain." Natia said calmly.

"Commander, release docking clamps and umbilical supports." K'Temoc said next.

Yamaguchi nodded. "Sealing the airlock and releasing docking clamps." she commented as the sound of massive supports was heard throughout the ship. "Umbilical sports are retracting... and clear" she reported.

"Ms. Takabe, scan the area, ensure our flight path is clear...let's clear the Station before the Essex." K'Temoc then said as he smirked.

This was Nuala's first assignment as a bridge officer. She looked around her station. Compared to the wall sized displays back at the science outpost she was assigned to, the displays were myopic. It would take hours or even days to comb through all the data. Now, there was a lot less data and her commander needed the information as soon as Nuala received it. This test flight was a good opportunity to acclimate to the new conditions.

"Sir, Yorktown's flight path is clear." Nuala informed K'Temoc.

After getting the 'all clear', K'Temoc took a breath and smiled, then ordered the Yorktown out. "Commander, ease is back, thrusters only until we're clear of the Luna and Essex, then bring us about, one quarter impulse until we're clear of the space doors."

Yamaguchi smiled. "Some ships were just made to fly." as she proceeded to crack her knuckles. "Easing us out, Aye Captain." as she gently tapped the 'aft thruster' display and increased the power until they were at one quarter as she effortlessly guided the small ship out of her berth then once clear, she gently turned the ship around as she quickly secured the aft thruster exhaust to kill their momentum, lest she slowly collide with the station or another ship. "Well young lady... lets dance..." Yamaguchi said quietly as she was clearly talking to the ship.

"Powering up thrusters sir.... heading out." Yamaguchi reported, with that she gently tapped the 'engage' button on the display before her.

Holly was a ship operations making sure that everything was reading out alright and that there were no hick ups in her. After all this was a new ship and things like that might happen. Seeing that so far everything was going well for the ship so she took up the role of silent observer at her station. She didn't mind it as she would rather have things go smoothly rather than have issues right off the bat. Made for a more interesting flight.

Yamaguchi smiled as the USS Yorktown left the starbase. "Captain... we're clear of the base and free to navigate." she reported. "Switching to impulse engines." she added a moment later, clearly now at home at the conn. "Course heading Captain?" she inquired as she turned her head to regard him with a look.

K’Temoc stood from the Command Chair and took a step forward. He watched the main viewer as the USS Clemson, a Raptor class ship…slightly smaller than the Defiant Class USS Yorktown, passed by on her way to dock at Starbase 400.

“Commander, set course for the Poinsett Weapons Range. Warp one…and if she doesn’t fly apart we’ll increase speed along the way.” The Captain ordered. Poinsett was named after the Poinsett Gunnery Range on Earth where United States Air Force, Marine, Navy, and Army would test and train in weapons fired from their aircraft. Near Regulus, Poinsett was the closest weapons range to Starbase 400.

“Lieutenant, keep an eye on the primary and secondary flow regulators to the warp engines and the ship’s primary power grid. If anything fluxates, let Engineering know. “ K’Temoc added, looking at Gillo.

"Aye sir." Holly didn't take her eyes off her panel and started setting up more intensive looks at the primary and secondary power flow regulators to the warm engines if they fluxed even for a second engineering would know about it.

Yamaguchi's fingers flew over the display as she proceeded to lay in the course to the Weapons testing range which to her was a bad name, it should have been something more universal rather then a human name but then, everything in the Federation seemed to be named after humans. "Who named the Weapons range anyway?" she commented.

"Federation President Jonathan Archer, and an ancestor of mine, Vice Admiral Brian Bremer." K'Temoc replied, a little annoyed.

"Oh." Torilla responded. "A pity he didn't name it after General Tenebrous or General Shran of Andor." she shrugged. "twenty or so light year long car ride coming up.." she added. "All engines ahead slow... and engaging now." with that she tapped the warp drive controls as she watched the stars turn into starlines as the Yorktown transitioned to warp speed as she turned to Gillo. "Holly, keep a weather eye out ahead for me please"

"Will do my best pilot." She then added, "ma'am." Holly was so use to working with marines that the pilot came out before the ma'am she made a mental note to herself to curve that more and try and keep it fleet with them so she wouldn't get them confused with the nicknames that they gave posts on a ship, so to communicate quickly in high stress or pressured situations.

Just then the com system beeped. "Bridge, warp engines are performing nicely, we're going to do this nice and slow." came the voice of Lieutenant Lasky, also known as Fives.

Torilla smiled darkly as her original thought came back to her about Captain K'Temoc and it wasn't a good one, this was a guy who had no family and Torilla for her credit could see why, he'd never last with children in the house and he got irritated with her asking one simple question, also she could tell he was a man who put great stock in the deeds of his ancestors which in itself wasn't bad but still it could lead to other issues. Torilla dismissed the thought from her mind as she turned her attention back to the Conn before her.

Meanwhile in the Infirmary. Lieutenant Dvald shook her head. "No, this rickety barge needs a proper sickbay, not this failed excuse for one." she commented out loud as she walked into her office where her two medical officers and four nurses were waiting on her.

"Alright. This sickbay is a joke, we all know it so lets do something abut it."

"Sir... if I may?" inquired one of the younger nurses, a Bajoran woman who looked about eighteen or so.

"Yes?" Siaxx inquired as she turned her attention to the nurse.

"Why are we bothering with it.... Starfleet engineering won't listen to our request to design sickbay as this ship is apparently designed for short term assignments."

Siaxx raised an eyebrow, she had after all heard all of this before. "It doesn't matter, they aren't here... we are and we're not redesigning sickbay... but we will make this place more efficient then the usual Defiant class sickbay."

"You don't like the Defiant class..... do you sir?" came the voice of the second from the right, an Andorian Thaan who wore the rank of Ensign and she was blunt in her response. "No.. I don't."

Meanwhile on the bridge, all seemed to be proceeding smoothly as the com system beeped. "Engineering to Bridge. we can start increasing power to the warp engines slowly but I don't want to overdo it." Fives again.

Torilla raised an eyebrow as she was not the senior officer on site but she answered anyway. "Understood Engineering, I'm watching the system with a mothers eye."

"Increase speed." K'Temoc ordered.

"Aye sir, increasing power to the drives... Warp one point two five.... One point five.... one point seven five..." she raised an eyebrow. "Engineering?"

"Everything's looking good down here helm, you can kick this girl a little harder." Five's sense of humor was clearly working overtime.

"I see... " she raised an eyebrow. "Lieutenant, Please refrain from comments that can be taken the wrong way on this channel. it will save you lots of trouble later, trust me." Torilla commented. "Passing Warp two." as she narrowed her eyes. "Mmmm..."
