ON:
Meanwhile down in the armory, Master Sergeant Jeffery Duval was busy checking the ordinance which he had done several hundred times over his career as he plucked a bulky phaser cannon off of the shelf as he checked its powercell and then its settings. "Another one which is defective."
He raised an eyebrow as he heard the door open as he placed the cannon on the deck and he turned, snapping to attention only to find himself face to face with Sergeant Major Pepper, Duval didn't salute many with respect but he saluted this guy with real respect. "Sergeant Major" he addressed the other man.
Pepper sighed, "How many times Duval, I'm not an officer so don't salute me... do it again and I'll have you running laps around the exterior of the station" he said with a smile, he then motioned towards the weapons and oterh various equipment laid out on the deck.
"Checking the ordinance... I've found four rifles and one cannon that's defective so if you have no problems. I'm going to check all sidearms, rifles and cannons aboard ship." Duval commented as he mentaly shrugged, running laps on the stations hull in full armor wasn't a serious issue, it would however take some serious doing.
Pepper nodded, "How long will that take?"
"About ten hours or so. I should be done by the time we arrive."
"Second platoon had a marine with an un-made bunk, you can use them for whatever you need"
"Sounds good to me." he commented. "I was prepared to camp out in here anyway." he commented as he picked up another rifle as he sighed softly. "Who packed these..." he then proceeded to pull off the power cell. "Cracked and damaged. whoever packed this place just earned the worst duty I can dream up for them." he growled as he plucked another defective rifle off of the shelf. "I rest my case." he added as he turned and went over to the maintenance record which was usually kept on the bulkhead walls.
"Mmm... last inspected by Forth Platoon, Third Battalion." he raised an eyebrow. "Fantastic." he added dryly.
"I'd like to make Forth Platoon's lives a living misery?" he inquired in a dry tone. "If you have no objections of course... I will make them run the exterior of the station, around the top section of course..."

Deela and Lokran were sitting in their seats, ready to get this mission going, "Vice Admiral T'Lar to Essex crew. We will be departing in approximately thirty minutes. All stations, status report in twenty."
While waiting, she was discussing with Lokran the mission, going over the last minute details.
"Jarheads are playing cards in the armory, or tweaking their firearms. So as usual, marines are on standby," Jillian spoke as she cleared her throat from the secondary tactical console.
Deela looked over at her with no expression and nodded. She had already accepted her as she is.
Jack was awaiting the final checks from his various crew members in the Operations Department as he stood at the Ops Station. He did have a chair to sit at but he had learned from experience that you only sat down when things were quiet... And a launch was anything but quiet.
Once the final few ops crew had replied, Jack then ran through the final checks at the Operations Station and was happy with their outcomes and results. The sensors, comm systems and power management systems were running at nominal power with backups on standby. He looked over at the Admiral, satisfied his department was ready. "Admiral, Operations is ready and standing by for departure," he reported, eager to get underway.
Now that the Essex was ready to depart, Deela gave her orders, "Seal the airlock and signal Starbase 400 that we are ready to depart. Release the docking clamps. Aft thrusters at one quarter, port and starboard thrusters at station-keeping."
R'nard was seated in the XO's chair of the Essex, and looked at the operations. "All are rready, Ma'am." said the Tralazar. "Airlock sealed. He tapped the console. "Starrbase 400 is notified we are rready to depart. Docking clamps rreleased." He looked to helm.
Just then a message came in and was automatically routed to Phoenix's private database, it was from Lieutenant Dvald and it read 'Stay sharp and stay safe, I'll keep dinner warm for you when you get home. Seeya Soon Siaxx."
Phoenix had not realized she was blushing as she read the message. It was cute, really, that she had a crush on the blue goddess. Not many folks stroked her fancy and made her actually clean up a bit after herself.
She's just meant for sex though, Phoenix strongly reminded herself. For the last thing she needed was to be distracted in a cockpit by the thought of a significant other. That's how many got killed in her line of work.
Bremer had stood over to the side of the Bridge and watched the Command Crew of the Essex work, and he allowed a little smile to cross his lips. Once the Essex was moving, he could see the Yorktown passing through the Station’s Space Doors and head off on her training flight.
After a moment, Bremer said aloud, “Lieutenant Keikeya, you’re with me. Deela, mind if we borrow your Ready Room?”
Deela looked at Bremer and nodded, "Oh no. Go right ahead."
Mike nodded, and headed to the Ready Room. "Join us when the Essex is away Deela." Mike added.
Deela acknowledged him with a nod. Once he disappeared into the Ready Room, she put her attention back to the crew. The docking clamps had already released and the Intrepid Class ship began to move away, "Ensign La Baron. As soon as we have cleared the station, set course for Socala Major."
La Baron nodded, "Aye."
Deela then turned to Lokran, "I'll be in my Ready Room. You have the con Commander." Deela stood up and also disappeared into her Ready Room.
"Underrstood." said R'nard. He moved over to the command seat. It was true that he didn't like command capacity, he was more of a field man, but somebody had to do it, so it will be done.
