Mission: Episode 116 - "A Bounty of Trust"
Location: SB400 Tactical OPS
Timeline: Current-MD2 0600hrs

It was early, a little around 0600 hours. Deela was working on the crew manifest, assigning who was going to be on which ship. Bremer sent her a communication that she would be leading this mission. Bremer's notes were vague. The assignment was to go back to the Delta quadrant, specifically, New Talax. It would be a simple mission, patrolling it and the surrounding area. Six ships would be going.

Once Deela was satisfied with the ship assignments, she was ready to send the list to all the Commanding officers of each ship along with the crew rosters. She couldn't remember the last time she had lead a briefing. She was still getting used to the fact that Jack was back. She wasn't sure if it was too soon for him to go on a mission but since this was a simple one, he should be fine. Thinking about that, she realized that she had him down for his old ship, the Ark Royal. So, she had to switch Jack and McWire. She then sent the assignments. She sat back in her chair to collect her thoughts. After 15 minutes, Deela got up and grabbed herself some hot tea. It had been a difficult two years but it was over. Life was good again.

Deela sent a message to all of the crewmembers assigned to ships and that were going on this mission, "There will be a mission briefing meeting at 0900 hours in Tactical Operations." Deela had an hour to grab breakfast with Jack before everyone was to arrive.

---0900hrs---

Commander Coleman had received a notification when he walked into his office that there was going to be a meeting down in Tactical Operations. There wasn't much more to the message or what it could be for, but he was excited to see what it could be for.

Grabbing a few PADDs with some scientific information he was working on, Coleman headed down to the Tac Operations, seeing that he was the first one to arrive. Coleman took a seat around the large viewscreen and worked on one of the PADDs while he waited.

Commander Grian and Lieutenant JG Vox arrived together, as an hour before this meeting, they had joined each other for coffee on the promenade to discuss the USS Cushing and all its new refinements and updates and how Vox did everything she could not to make her final report to Grian, into an overly lengthy ordeal. The two sat next to each other at the table and greeted Coleman with a nod and a smile.

Ariana had already had a busy start to the morning, sorting her children’s breakfast, and getting them ready for drop off at nursery. Some mornings went smoother than others, and this one had been a more bumpy ride. Arriving at the briefing she offered a warm smile to all present before replicating herself a Risan sunrise, unlike the Risan sunset this one wasn’t an aphrodisiac, instead it was a delicious alternative to a strong cup of coffee. She’d found it worked a treat in improving a bad start to a morning.

Dee noticed Ariana across the table with her Risian Sunrise. She raised her blue mug of coffee, a Trill blend that her mother recently sent her and smiled at Ariana.

Alexander walked in juggling a PADD in one hand and a coffee in the other. When he got the notification he'd be going out, he quickly downloaded some basic specs of the Ark Royal to look over as some light reading before everyone showed up. He flashed a quick smile to everyone in the room before taking a seat at the table, and taking no time to start reading about thruster specs.

Grian leaned towards Vox. "Alexander looks busy this morning. That's quite a large cup of coffee he has there. " She comments quietly.

"Large? that's nothing. You should have see the one I had yesterday in my office after I spent 2 hours in a cramped hot Jeffries tube." Vox commented. "Cup is not appropriate for what I had. Bucket would be closer." She added.

"I have been in my fair share of Jeffries Tubes in my time and they are not great when at normal temperature so I feel for you in a hot and humid one."

"Thank you Commander." Vox replied.

Percy arrived at operations with padd at hand with the crew manifest for the Ark Royal. It will be his first time of commanding the Ark Royal since his promotion to Lieutenant. He greeted everyone present and took a seat.

The door slid open as Xalanth stepped into the room. The red-scaled security chief had a padd in one hand and his breakfast in the other which he was finishing off as he took his seat.

Dee smiled as she saw Xalanth walk into the room. He had helped her recently, dealing with some personal issues and for that she owed him one. She knew he would never come calling for a favour but she would make sure she did him a favour at some point. The padd on the table in front of her flashed. Picking it up she noticed she had a message from Captain Ezri Dax. It simply read.

[My future self trusted you so I will too. Lets meet for a coffee sometime. Best wishes. Dax.]

She tapped out a very short reply.

[Sounds like a plan, Captain. You are welcome to visit SB400 anytime and I would love to have a look around the Aventine. Best wishes, Vox.]

She sat back waiting for the briefing to start. She was looking forward to get back aboard the Cushing.

Diana slipped quietly into the room, nervous about her new assignment.

Diana replicated a hot chocolate and cherry pie, then settled into a chair in the corner.

Vashir reported to Ops as directed shortly before 0900, she scanned the crowd and noticed Commander Coleman, and made her way toward him. She stood a couple of meters away from where he sat. "Hey Commander. Any idea what this is about?" she asked.

"Nothing at the moment. I just arrived not long before everyone started piling into here. But, I'm assuming for a new mission profile by the looks of it," Coleman replied, excited for a new mission.

Lieutenant Commander Woodhouse walked in and looked around, taking a seat at the end. She had had a busy day so far and thought for a moment she was going to be terribly late but she came up with a plan, letting one of the doctors under her take over. Anna had faith in everyone under her but she liked to finish what she started.

Deela glanced around the room as she kept a tally in her mind who had shown up so far. There were still two COs that hadn't shown up yet, one being her husband. It was still early though. It was a good thing that the mission wasn't a dangerous one, well, as far as she knew. She wondered if Neelix had something to do with them being assigned to the Delta quadrant. It didn't matter right now. Her thoughts were interrupted when the door opened as her yeoman walked in with some pastries for everyone. She nodded to Deela, set them down and left without a word.

Dee got another notification on her padd. She reviewed it and smiled. An update she had been waiting for regarding the USS Cushing had come through. Her team had received and installed the new bussard collector control systems which would mean they would be at-least 20% more efficient. She slid the padd to Commander Grian, who glanced at the padd. She read it through and turned to Dee and smiled and quietly mouth 'Fantastic''. She slid the padd back.

Ariana saw the pastries arrive, just the sight made her stomach rumble so she politely moved to pick one up, before sitting back to tuck in and enjoy it.

Jack arrived in Tactical Ops, having located himself a fresh uniform and also replicated a raktajino to bring with him. He arrived with padd in his other hand and looked across at Deela, he couldn't help but notice the smile on her face as he walked over to her.

"My apologies for being late, Admiral, I had a small wardrobe malfunction, something that I'll see to once we're done here, if that's ok? he asked. Basically, Jack had lost some weight and had a difficult time trying to make sure he wore a uniform that fit him. He was also a little wary about being back amongst the crew after arriving back on the station, but parked that for now.

Once he headed over to take a seat, Jack looked down at the assignments and noticed that he'd been assigned as CO of the USS Europa, a Luna class starship. Seeing that McWire was shown as the CO of the Ark Royal, Jack made a note to check and see if this was correct... it seemed that things had changed quite a bit whilst he had been MIA for the last 24 months.

Avery arrived in Ops with her padds, she greeted the Admiral with a smile and looked for an empty chair, her dress uniform was slightly dirty but unnoticeable.

"I apologize for being late, Admiral, one of the Turbo Lifts malfunctioned and i ended up in Engineering. I'm honored to be here. I hope my uniform is okay."

After she sat down she read her assignment and was shocked to find she was assigned to the USS Europa. She kept her excitement hidden and waited for instructions on what to do.

After taking care of some personal things Lee finally made his way to Tactical ops, stepping in he looked around "Sorry had to take care of some personal stuff."

"It's fine, Have a seat." Not everyone had shown up to the briefing but Deela was patient, as much as she could be. Once Dr. Ventar arrived, Deela decided to move onto the meeting. Hopefully, more would show up.

Deela stood up, “Thank you all for coming. We have a few that are late but we’ll go ahead and start. First order of business, I wanted to welcome a new crewmember, Ensign Ivonova. She is a nurse.” Deela smiled at her, “Welcome aboard.”

Then Deela turned to Jack, “And I’d like to especially welcome back Captain Solomon. It’s good to have him safely back home with us. It’s been a long two years.”

Deela now addressed why they were there, “Everyone should have received their ship assignments. There is one change in the manifest. Dr. Blake had an emergency so Dr. Ventar-Maab will be replacing him on the USS Visionary.

Moving onto our mission. It is a simple one. We will be going to the Delta Quadrant, specifically, New Talax. We will be relieving the patrol that is already there. The information I have is vague. Hopefully, we’ll know more why they assigned us once we arrive.

We will be leaving tomorrow at 0900 hours. I will be the lead ship if you haven't guessed yet." She glanced at the table where everyone was sitting.

Vox made a note on her padd and passed it across to Grian who took the padd. The note read. - Cushing is pretty much good to go. I suggest we prep her well before 0700 tomorrow to ensure we ready for 0900. - Grian turned to Vox and nodded in agreement.

"Admiral T'Lar, what's the latest intel that we have from New Talax? The last time that anybody from the Starbase has been there was quite some time ago. I know that there is a patrol we're relieving, so I'm assuming they've kept us up to date on the happenings of the colony," Coleman asked, wondering what has been going on with the colony.

Deela nodded slightly, "They have. As I'm sure you know, Neelix is still the ambassador there. There was an incident with a Talaxian ship. Neelix was worried that it was sabotaged a few months ago but those patrolling the area disagree. Upon further investigation, they catalogued it as crew error. And they haven't had any other incidents since then. It's been quiet."

Edg'rrr walked through the door still drowsy from yesterday's festivities with a piece of toast in his mouth. He wondered if anyone had noticed him and wondered just why so many of the higher staff would want a lower decker here. He rapidly sat down and looked over notes on a padd. What he saw made him, excited? Nervous? A little of both perhaps as his ears perked up and his mood changed. CEO of the USS Visionary, NCC-82895, a Sagan class vessel. He knew he was caught up with most of the recent tech coming out of Starfleet R&D but to be put on a ship of the line on par with the Constitution Three classes? He had a moment of feeling honored but also knew to keep himself humble and put more than his best forward.

He continued down as to what his new assignment would be about. A trip to the delta quadrant. He mostly only knew of the USS Voyager's adventures through the region. From the Caretaker Array, the Benthans, phage virus, Vaadwaur, and that isn't even going into the hidden reports of time travel with some rumors about help from the future dealing with the Borg to return them home. He tried not to think about the bad though. Hopefully it would just be a routine journey to check on New Talax trying out the local cuisine before returning without much of an event or two from occurring. Perhaps, he thought, this will be good to find out how he'll really do out there. Might even find a few more ideas for those hobbies of his too.

Ariana looked towards T’Lar “Do we know how long our patrol period is likely to last?” Her thoughts were with her family, and being away from Cameron and her children yet again.

"It's hard to say. It could be as long as two weeks." She added, "or more. Starfleet hasn't given me much to go on." Deela observed Ariana for a moment, "Lieutenant, if you don't feel that you can go on this assignment with a clear mind, let me know now."

Ariana nodded as she looked towards Deela. “Of course Admiral.”

Avery looked happy to be included on this assignment.

"However long it may be, I'm glad to be able to assist and go with you all. I'm very excited to meet new people and make new friends. Thank you Admiral for assigning me to the task. I'm so excited."

Deela looked at Avery with a smile, "Good. I hope you still think so after this assignment is over." She was still not sure why they were going on this patrol when there was nothing reported to need them.

[Sheesh! This is crazy...but it also sounds kinda fun!] Diana thought as she tried to stay still.

Diana had read that she was on the Cushing, and was a bit nervous as she'd not had a chance to explore that ship yet, but she was eager to!

Coleman smiled and said, "I'm ready for a regular patrol duty in the Delta Quadrant. It has...been a bit since I've stayed in the quadrant for longer than a little bit of time. It'll be good to just have a bit of quiet for once and help out the Talaxians."

Deela nodded, "Very good."

"I have never been to the Delta Quadrant." Deezell commented. It is going to be most interesting." She added.

Xalanth felt his heart sink at the news. Any time away from his girls was always painful. Still he had his job to do " Well you can pick up a souvenir while your there Deezell." he added. " Is everyone up to date with their phaser qualifications?" he asked the room.

"I think I am up to date on my qualifications." Dee commented. "What kind of souvenirs?" She added.

Deela interrupted them, "You can all talk about that after we're done here." She looked around the room, "Anymore questions?" She waited, "Okay then. Perform last checks on your ships and we will depart tomorrow for the Delta Quadrant at 0630 hours. Dismissed."
