Mission: Episode 99 - Exordium / Epilogue
Location: Various
Timeline: MD01 0650 hrs

Ariana had woken early thanks to the discomfort of her ever expanding waistline, that and the movement of her growing daughter inside her. Getting herself something to eat she slid back into bed, pulling the sheets around her and grabbed some reports to read. She had to sign off on them regardless of who had conducted the Counselling appointments.

Reading through the first few reports she paused to eat her breakfast, her mind wondering back to the previous evening.

~ Flashback; 2000 hrs ~

Kaden had arrived at the restaurant Ariana asked him to come to it was rather a sudden spur of the moment type thing as he was planning on dropping by to check on his wife and Hope. But instead, he got a call from his old lover and close friend to come see her and meet her new man in her life, Cameron. He knew what Ariana was doing she knew him too well she was going to help break the ice between the two men which was fine with him.

When Kaden arrived he had sent word to Freya he was not going to be able to be with her and hope which was upsetting as he had replicated a stuffed toy for the baby to sleep with. He found Ariana sitting alone at a table as it seemed her new beau was not there yet which meant she could help him ease into meeting the guy as he was not good at meeting people at times unless he had a good brandy in his hand. Taking a deep breath Kaden walked up to the Counselor and smiled. “Hey, Ariana, sorry I am late I had to square things away with Freya before I got here.”

"Square things away with Freya? I hope you didn't come here instead of going home to her or she'll never forgive me!" Ariana smiled. "I can always introduce you to Cameron another time you know."

Kaden took a seat across the table from an old lover taking a moment to settle in before placing his hands on the table and interlacing his fingers. “I took care of it she had to cut her visit short with the baby tonight anyway needed to catch up on a few counseling appointments with her patients. Said she may run back by and wish the baby goodnight real quick till I got home.” He said.

"As long as you're sure Freya will come alright with Hope until you get home." Ariana gave Kaden an understanding look. "Frey seems to be coping well to being a temporary mum to baby Hope."

“I noticed, but I am still getting used to it,” Kaden said before pointing to the empty chair. “So, where is your new boyfriend?”

"I'm just waiting for him to arrive" Ariana smiled. "He has his own business so he's busy with that a lot of the time which is understandable."

Kaden noticed Ariana was acting different lately she seemed more stressed and frustrated but something had happened she was in a good mood he had seen it before when they were lovers but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. “Ariana, you seem to be acting...different but in a good way.” He began to rub his chin in thought.

"That's because I'm happy and because my worries about the son that I lost have been put to rest." She smiled. "I know he's with Jonathon and that both he and Jonathon are happy. Plus I have a wonderful man who loves me, and who wants to raise his daughter with me, what more could I want?"

Kaden frowned as he slumped in his chair. “Yeah, what more could you want? I thought when we were together I had made you happy instead my cowardice on kids pulled us apart you meant a lot to me and I have to admit you still do. I mean, what we had was something special between us you were the first gal I made love to. Guess it was for the best we broke up just sorry I couldn’t satisfy you glad this Cameron fellow makes you happy. Probably is better than I was in bed too hell even is probably bigger than me isn’t he.” He couldn’t understand why he felt like absolute trash suddenly perhaps he felt guilty still Ariana left him that he was the reason she did. But Kaden was feeling like his ego was challenged by this Cameron guy or it was something else that was bothering him.

"I don't think talking about how you both compare in bed is really appropriate to do you?" Ariana looked at Kaden with a frown. "what's past is past Kaden, let's not spend all our time dwelling on it okay?"

Kaden frowned feeling completely foolish. “I’m sorry...I have been worried lately the last few weeks Freya has been waking up at times screaming still at times and I don’t know why. She at times seems to distance herself from me and it bothers me I don’t know if she is losing interest in me. Freya never talks about her old boyfriend she had before we met except the time she said he could never satisfy her in bed. I just worry that I am becoming pathetic like her old boyfriend...and she is going to leave me as you did.” He felt a tear roll down his face.

"Freya loves you Kaden" Her voice softened. "She's recently discovered she was raped, and that is a lot to accept. It's not surprising she's waking up screaming. I'll speak to her about it, see if she'll talk to me."

Cameron had been in a rather pissed off mood since he had opened the shop that morning. It turned out that his help was next to incompetent when it came to managing the shop, the kid had let a piece of custom work that would cost a lot go for next to nothing. His reasoning was they have just replicated things and could always be made again. What he did not understand was that a lot of the stuff was not replicated it was hand made or at least hand modified for each customer. Now was not the time for those thoughts though he was meeting his girl for dinner and he wanted to surprise her. Instead of the chair, he had opted for the hover units on his belt. They made it look like he was actually walking and it was a good workout for his knees and upper legs anyway.

With those on the now looked every bit the man he would have been had the accident not happened, it was actually kinda nice to see things this way. He walked into the lounge where he was supposed to be meeting Ariana and having seen her with her back to him he walked up behind her and leaned down to speak softly "Hello love what brings my angel out here to see me on this fine day." Said Cameron teasingly

Kaden turned away for a moment to wipe the tear off his face deep down he didn’t like another man kissing Ariana he had that same problem with Jonathan when they first met. But he felt it was the only natural of him to feel that way since him and Ariana were lovers once but like before it was going to take time for him to accept this Cameron fellow as her new man. Turning back around took a moment to tilt his head looking the guy over he suddenly felt a bit nervous biting his lower lip unsure what to say or do at the moment.

Ariana turned to look at Cameron with a surprised look on her face. "You're...walking!" Her smile beamed. "I was expecting you to arrive at your chair, but this is....amazing!!"

"Not exactly love but when the situation calls for it I can adapt things." Said Cameron softly

“You know that doesn’t matter to me my love.” She smiled as she looked at Cameron before remembering Kaden was there. "Where are my manners! Cameron this is Marine Captain Kaden Ross. He's an old friend of mine, we dated for a while." She looked at Kaden. "Kaden this is Cameron Wayne."

Kaden looked the man over in silence for a moment as if he had to be certain Cameron was going to be a good fit for his ex-girlfriend. Getting to his feet he extended his hand out but was feeling nervous his hand slightly trembling. “N-Nice to meet you...” He said nervously.

"Nice to meet you, Captain Ross." Said Cameron as he shook the other man's hand firmly

Kaden could only offer a smile to Cameron as he was nervous meeting him plus with all these concerns with Freya he had on his mind wasn't helping either. Sitting back down in his seat he could hear a squeak which caused him to almost jump out of his skin as he turned around to find the stuffed giraffe he made for hope laying on his chair. With an annoyed sigh, he picked it up and sat it on the table before plopping back in his chair his face completely red with embarrassment.

Ariana grinned. “A present for Hope?” She looked at Cameron. “Kaden and his wife Freya are temporarily fostering baby Hope until they can find her family.”

Kaden leaned forward in his seat resting his large arm on the table. “Well, I am not against her adopting the kid if she wanted to but...my wife is pretty adamant of having a baby of our own.” He confessed.

“I can completely understand that” Ariana grinned as she rested her hand on her stomach. “It’s a magical experience and the greatest creation of love between two people. Trust me my friend it'll work out in the end just you wait and see."

~ Current Time ~

Shaking off the daydream Ariana could only hope that Freya wouldn't be too upset when it came to letting go of baby Hope. The longer Hope was aboard the station the more attached Freya was going to get. All she could do was be there for her friend when the time came to say goodbye.
