Mission: Episode 97 - Cultural Exchange
Location: USS Pegasus
Timeline: MD7 1230hrs

ON:

Before the Pegasus was to depart Cardassia, Fleet Admiral Akar asked Mike to meet with him and a few others aboard the Pegasus to discuss some changes in Beta Quadrant and an Intel report he'd received. Mike asked his Intel staff, including the exchange officers that helped with intel.

Janice, Draven, T'Lana, Ch'Tal, and Koval waited with Mike in Tactical Operations while the guests beamed aboard and were escorted there.

The door opened and Captain Dow entered. He motioned for the VIPs to walked in, the followed the last man, a Cardassian inside.

"Fleet Admiral Bremer, thank you for hosting his little meeting." Garak said. "You already know Legate Evek, and his is..."

The other Cardassian didn't wait for Garak to introduce him, he did it himself, "Gul Akellen Macet, Commander of the Trager."

Mike looked up anger and rage came across his face. He started to clinch his fist. "Dukat."

Draven and Dow both stepped between the men.

Macet took a deep breath, "Dukat was my less than favorite cousin. The resemblance has been a liability both within and outside of the Cardassian Union."

"Macet has been a proponent of the Alliance and friendly ties with the Federation going all the way back to when he helped the Enterprise-D track down the USS Phoenix and Captain Maxwell twenty-eight years ago." Akar replied.

Mike relaxed and blinked, "Apologies Gul Macet. Welcome aboard the USS Pegasus." He extended his hand and after a moment Macet shook it.

"Gul Macet will be returning to the Ares area with the Trager and serving on my staff." Evek added. "Gul Mavek will be staying on as the Cardassian Liaison Officer aboard your station."

Mike nodded. "Alright. Let's get down to business." Mike's tone was more relaxed again.

Draven tapped in a few commands on the main display, "We received reports that members of the Typhon Pact are planning a series of fleet maneuvers, similar to the ones ran out of Starbase 400 a few months ago. Elements of two Gorn Fleets will join Romulan Star Empire wings and a Krazzle fleet. The Breen task force within area will also be participating but the Tholians have no sent ships yet." Draven tapped in another command, suddenly 'Crystal Blue Persuasion' by Tommy James and the Shondells from 1968 started playing over the speakers. The Cardassians looked around confused, so did G'Tar and Velal. T'Lana, Koval, and Ch'Tal on the other hand were use to Lek's love of '60s music.

Mike just smirked and shook his head while Akar and Toddman looked at the Chief Intelligence officer with a not too happy expression. Dow tried not to laugh.

"Sorry about that." Draven said as the music stopped. "We uh, we're not sure when they will start their exercise but we will be actively monitoring."

"Mister Bremer, what is your opinion on Damon Gros?" Akar asked.

Mike was taken a little off guard by the question, Gros the recently assigned Ferengi Exchange Officer to Starbase 400 had some along for the mission and while he'd only been on the station for a few weeks before the trip to Cardassia, he had seemed more interested in learning and sharing ideas that profit. "What about him sir?"

"With the Ferengi's non-aggression pact with the Typhon Pact, do you think we need to send him back to the Ferengi Alliance?" Toddman asked.

"I don't believe so. I honestly believe Grand Nagus Rom only has his people's best at heart when he signed the non-aggression pacts with the Alliance and Typhon Pact. It means he's officially not taking sides. If diplomacy breaks down and there is a war, the Ferengi would be caught in the middle. They have the Breen and Son'a on two sides and the Cardassians on another." Mike explained.

Toddman nodded as Akar replied, "Very well."

"Anyone have anything else?" Mike asked.

"I have a question." Macet said. "While the Trager will be in the field with Legate Evek and the Vetar, if we were to dock at your Station, is there a Cardassian restaurant?"

Mike smirked, "There is. It's rather new, and I think Gul Mavek's crew have been their main customers so far. Zark's bar also has a selection of Cardassian drinks."

Macet nodded. "Very good."

Garak smiled, "Well then, I think this had been a productive meeting. Thank you again for the hospitality."

Mike gave a nod as the guests headed for the door. After a few moments only Dow, Draven, Janice, and Bremer remained.

"That went well." Dow said as he rolled his eyes.

"Could have been worse. Macet has been honorable in his encounters with the Federation over the years. He was even apart of Damar's uprising near the end of the Dominion War. I trust him more than Evek." Draven added.

Janice shook her head, she really didn't want to deal with any Cardassian which was why she'd been so quiet during the meeting. "I just want to go home." She finally said, looking up at Mike.

Mike nodded, then tapped his commbadge. "Bremer to Bridge, signal our ships. We'll depart in five hours to return to Starbase 400."

"Aye sir." Roebuck replied.

"Pat, I need you to command the Sutherland on the return trip." Mike said.

Dow looked at him confused, "Alright."

"Jewel had taken a leave of absence from Starbase 400." Mike said.
