Mission: Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Various, Relief Force Ships and Hunster III
Timeline: MD2 1345hrs, Following 'Arriving on Scene'

ON:

Hunster II Colony, Outside the Meeting Hall

Lennox, Ermey, and Agtx arrived at the meeting place as ordered. They had left their teams working on clearing the debris, hoping to get a jump start on recovery efforts.

She seen them arrive, "This doesn't look good at all, if things keep going the way there going..." She started to say as she was cut off by the call for help. "Well looks like this meeting will just have to wait." T'Lyn stated.

Olga wasn't too happy about getting stuck pulling security on the aid post. To make matters worse, a local politician was there telling the refugees he was going to get aid from the Federation. He was an alderman or something. Olga did her best to not get annoyed when a girl, no older than ten, ran up to her.

"Hurry! Hurry!" She yelled at Olga as she pulled on her uniform sleeve.

"What happened?" Olga asked while gently pulling the girls arm free from her sleeve.

"The Bridge fell into the river!" The girl yelled. "Hurry!"

Olga had no idea where this bridge was but it was an excuse to leave the aid station. "Alright, show me." Olga told her.

The girl ran into the ruins. It wasn't long before Olga came across a large suspension bridge that had partially collapsed. It looked like the refugees had tried to cross the wrecked span when it fell into the river. Olga climbed some debris to get a good look. A large span of bridge was partially submerged. Several dozen people were half under water and barely holding on.

Olga tapped on her comm badge. "Corporal Vaal to Task Force: I have several refugees who need immediate rescue."

"Chief, did you read that?" a Sergeant asked Giaus.

"Sure did. That crossing is not that far from us. Double time people!"

"MARSOC 1 to Corporal Vaal, enroute to your location."

"Copy that Chief." Olga responded. She looked out over the refugees and wondered exactly what they were going to do.

Lennox, Ermey, and Agtx had heard the call too. They double timed it from the meeting location, passed their teams...ordering them to continue their work...and arrived on scene about the same time as the MARSOC.

"I don't know if we can wait for vehicles. The victims might be suffering from hypothermia." Vaal conjectured.

"I'm thinking we are going to have to send some of our people out onto the wreckage to pull them out of the water. The heavier among us can act as anchors and tie a line to those of us who are lighter." Vaal told them.

Giaus motioned to his team, and they stacked weapons, and dropped thier body armor.

T'Lyn also arrived with them to see if she could lend some assistance with the situation at hand.

"Hello there Sir." Olga greeted T'Lyn. "Because of your Vulcan physique you have the perfect combination of height, weight, and strength. I"m thinking you'll be going the farthest out Sir."

"Understood, I'll help where I am needed." T'Lyn stated looking at Olga. "I believe that Lennox, Agtx, and Emry can help as well they are strong." T'Lyn spoke up as well.

"Yes Sir, Gunny Agtx could probably anchor the line all on his lonesome." Olga agreed. Olga gave a friendly smile at T'Lyn "I'm not the senior officer here. I can only give advice. You need to give the order Sir."

She almost forgot she was the senior officer here, "Agtx, Emry, Lennox and I will be the anchor line, Each one will have to pic some lighter officers who can get down there and help the civilians." T'Lyn stated as she looked at them. "Lets not waste anymore time." T'Lyn ordered looking at the officers. "Olga, I also want you to help once we get the people up to the top make sure they get medical help." T'Lyn also ordered.

Lennox arrived with Ermey and Agtx while T'Lyn and Vaal were talking. Lennox pointed to Agtx to anchor the line and the large Gorn Marine put did as asked. Lennox and Ermey also took up positions, ready to help as needed.

The MARSOC Team double timed to the other side of the water. As a trio of Marines held onto a line as an anchor, Giaus hooked himself to the end of the line, and jumped into the water. Making his way to survivors, he started to pull them to the safety of land one at a time.

A few moments later, the Worth twins, both Marine Medics, also arrived and were ready to treat the victims.

Olga grabbed the end of one of the lines. "Medics are here now. I'm going to go out onto the bridge Sir." Olga told T'Lyn as she left for the river.

"Understood, lets get going," she stated as they all started the efforts to rescue them.

Olga scrambled up the ruined bridge. As she moved further up and out over the water she slowed down and moved more cautiously. Olga tied the line of at anchor points along her path.

There was a suspect piece of wreckage along Olga's path. Olga carefully put her weight onto the wrecked structure to test it. She quickly pulled away as the piece if bridge broke free and into the water below. Olga found another way to the victims.

Carefully moving down the rubble Olga reached the first refugees. She helped pull them out of the water. They looked worn and tired and possible suffering from the onset of hypothermia. Other marines helped them back over the bridge.

The last two victims were a women and young boy. They were holding on to a piece of debris in the water. "Don't panic, we'll get you out of the water." Olga told them.

"Please." The women pleaded in a weak voice. "I can't hold on much longer."

Olga nodded in acknowledgement. Olga grabbed the women's arm and started to pull her out of the water with child in tow. All of a sudden, the debris gave way. With a splash Olga fell into the water. The two victims were screaming as the three went down river. Olga's line when taught. She was holding the women and the boy was holding on to Olga by her hair.

"Major T'Lyn!" Olga yelled. "Pull me out!"

Agtx heard the Corporal yell ‘Pull me out’ and the big Gorn Marine started pulling with all his might. At first he was back peddling, but then he turned around to move forward. The claws on his feet dug into the ground with each step. Ermey and Lennox almost felt useless, but they too were pulling the line, trying to get everyone to safety.

T'Lyn helped Agtx and the others pull them to safety, she also assessed the others that were down there. They continued to help them.

Ermey was at the front of the line, keeping on hand on the line he reached forward with his other to pulled the first victim to safety.

Olga, soaking wet and exhausted, went to lie on the ground face first. She stayed rested on the mud and rubble until she could get her energy back.

With the immediate problem solved, Giaus and his men picked up their gear. Soaked with water, he sat on the ground near the Corporal, and started to slowly put his kit back on. He looked over at Olga, "Hey Corporal, can you use some water, or a food bar?"

"No water Chief. Thank you" Olga moaned a reply. "I need coffee."

"You and I both. I have some ration coffee, but I damn well know that is not what you were talking about."

Olga shook her head. "No, it is not. I have fresh beans I bought on the promenade but it's back with my pack at the aid station." Olga sighed. "I'll just wait until then."
