Mission: Mission 84 - Blockade
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: Following 'Life on Starbase 400'

ON:
Things aboard Starbase 400 had been quiet since the Tirpitz left for DS14 the day before.

In Ops, the morning shift was just settling in.

“Sir, the Tirpitz has arrived at DS14.” Varn reported as he took his station.

Deela was lost in thought as she had something on her mind. A strange feeling in the pit of her stomach wouldn't go away. She hadn't heard from her husband for a week now. She sent a subspace message earlier but he hadn't replied as of yet.

Sickbay

Sara sat at the nurses station reading through a medical journal. Some of her colleagues teased her because she read them when she could. “You’re a nurse, not a doctor” they would say to her. Sarah would just smile and nod her head. She simply felt that nurses should know as much as doctors if at all possible, after all some ships lost their doctors and relied on other staff for medical aid. This particular article was about airborne pathogens.

She started as a call came in. The smile left her face as she stood and began gathering supplies. She looked to the doctor in charge as the information came over the medical com. “several children in schoolroom ES570 have become ill.” She held out the medical bags to the physicians who grabbed them. “Probably bad snacks,” she heard one of them say. Sarah wanted to counter that with the reminder of strange illnesses around the Starbase, but she didn’t dare and held her tongue. To her delight however, the doctor leading the group indicated she come along. No one notified Starbase Command that would be automatic in a case like this.

She grabbed her own bag and an additional medical bag. In a flash they were standing in the school room. “I locked the door so no one would come in or leave,” the teacher said as they finished materializing. She looked around, there were approximately 30 students in the classroom. Six and seven year olds. She entered the information in her PADD. There appeared to be 14 actively sick, in varying stages; the rest of the class had moved to the far side of the room. The doctors started talking to and scanning the sick children. Sarah, scanned the other children for a baseline comparison. As she glanced over her shoulder she saw one child faint. The doctors were conferring quietly and tersely. This was ‘more than bad snacks,’ Sarah thought beginning to worry.

Ops

Back in Ops, Varn reported to Clifford and T’Lar. “The Venator is responding to a report that Relief Convoy 15 is under attack. It also appears the Gladiator is responding to another report that Convoy 11 is also under attack. The Pegasus has order Section Commanders to keep close watch on convoys passing close to their areas.”

Clifford didn't speak to anyone in particular, "Anyone taking odds that these are hit and run diversion attacks? They rush in and attack just long enough to draw our ships off the line. Using three or four ships they could run our ships ragged chasing them. "

Varn grunted. ‘If these convoys had cloaked Klingon ships as escorts this wouldn’t be happening’ he thought to himself. Just three or four Bird of Prey each would give the Krazzle pause, and he wondered why that it hadn’t been done. Still, it wasn’t up to him to question.

Sickbay

As soon as they hit sickbay, Sarah moved to the nursing station and began to notify parents that their children were in Sickbay. The doctors had decided the entire class had to come along, so all the medical staff stepped up to help. The doctors had decided it was "potentially serious" probably "not life-threatening" but certainly "contagious" and "Fast acting." So Sarah was notifying parents that their children were in quarantine. She also prepped a notice that the Chief Medical Doctor could send to Command. She took a PADD to his position and gave it to him to read and sign off on.

Ops

Varn grunted, "Captain Clifford...we have several Klingon ships decloaking at the outer marker. Twelve Bird of Prey, two k't'inga class battlecruisers, all lead by the Negh'Var class IKS Sar'Cho. Vorak PirUp Pa Sa' commanding. They are requesting permission to dock."

Outer Marker

The giant Negh'Var Class vessel dwarfed the k't'inga's escorting it, and from this distance the Birds of prey seemed hardly visible at all. Once they neared Starbase 400 they would have to put the ship into a controlled orbit of the station whilst they used shuttles to transfer crew back and forth.

Klingons coming to the station, this could be interesting...
