Reporting In

Posted on Sat Jan 25th, 2014 @ 3:55pm by Fleet Admiral Mike K`Wor Bremer & Fleet Admiral Sevlek

680 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 84 - Blockade
Location: USS Pegasus / Starbase 400
Timeline: Following 'Peace Talks - Day 2' and 'Blockade Duty, Day 2 - Pegasus Group'

ON:

Once the Pegasus was secured from Slipstream and back with the blockade group, they received official word that the Krazzle accepted the peace deal.

Mike smiled as he stood from his chair, “K’Temoc you have the Bridge.”

The Admiral walked into his Ready Room and took a seat at the deck. He activated the display and opened a channel to Admiral Sevlek at Starbase 400. After a few moments, the Vulcan Admiral appeared.

"Admiral Bremer."

“I’m sure you’ve already received word that a peace deal was reached, but what you aren’t aware of is a little chat I had with Romulan Admiral Sela.”

"Indeed. Elaboration would seem necessary."

“We received a report from one of the convoys of a ‘large fleet’ massing near Nelas Minor, it was a gut feeling but I figured that was their play. All the probing of the blockade lines, harassing of our convoys, it was a way to draw ships away and piss us off to the point of firing on them first and using it as an excuse to move the fleet in. The Pegasus alone went to investigate…but basically Sela and I agreed she would urge the Krazzle to accept the deal and withdraw the combined Typhon pact fleet to Romulan space, in exchange for us urging the C’Hakilians to agree to peace and us withdrawing the blockade fleet to Federation space.” Mike explained, “All the details will be in my report to Starfleet Command.”

Sevlek looked away momentarily, his orders were clear. "The blockade fleet will not be withdrawn."

“Selvek, I gave Sela my word, the fleet would be withdrawn, as a sign of good faith and mutual respect.” Mike replied.

"Good faith and mutual respect are not relevant at this juncture. Starfleet Intelligence has intercepted several communiques which place a second fleet of cloaked vessels 24 light years from your current position." He looked away again, and nodded this time. "The blockade will remain in place until such a time that the Federation President and the Security Council are convinced of the sincerity of any treaty that is signed."

Mike thought for a moment, "Then I suggest our ships start deploying sensor buoys and work to bring a tachyon detection grid online around C'Hakilian territory at once. I'd also suggest C'Hakilian vessels move in and start replacing our ships along the line in staggered groups. It'll show we are pulling back, but it'll be slow enough to keep enough vessels nearby just in case."

"Orders to do exactly that are being transmitted to one third of the ships in the blockade. You should be receiving copies of those orders as well. Ensure maximum coverage."

Mike nodded, "Some of the ships being pulled off the blockade, I'll reassign to escort of transports between Krazzle and C'Hakilian space evacuating civilians between the two...that'll allow us to keep more ships in the area."

Sevlek looked at the screen, "Authorization to engage any ship attempting to cross the blockade, by any means, is granted. Any difficulties with the Krazzle and Typhon Pact with this particular issue will be resolved."

"Understood." Mike replied. "Pegasus out." He tapped the info into a PADD. He would have to look over the C'Hakilian ship deployments, pick which Federation, Klingon, and Caradassian ships to pull from the line, which to assign to escorting the transports, which to send back to DS14 for 'redeployment', and which ships to bring into the area for duty.

With that, the channel closed as Mike sent orders out to the fleet. He ordered the Venator, Tirpitz, Sutherland, and Pegasus back to Starbase 400 and he figured the Gladiator would be following soon enough.

He then assigned Rear Admiral Cole as area commander and ordered his ship to dock at DS14 and him carry out his command from here. Cole would over see the redeployment of ships along the blockade while making sure all transport and relief convoys were well protected...and for Cole to send daily reports to Sevlek and himself.

Now...he had reports to read and write....
