Mission: Mission 81 - Revenge
Location: USS Pegasus
Timeline: Following 'Piecing Things Together'

ON:

Mike only sat back down in his seat for a few minutes before he got word from Sick-Bay that Janice was starting to regain consciousness. He nearly jumped up from his seat and headed for the turbolift. “K’Temoc you have the Bridge. Coleman, let me know as soon as you complete your scans.” The door quickly shut.

A moment later, he walked into Sick Bay. Janice was awake, her head was elevated and she was looking around. Doctor Brislan was besides her, scanning with a medical tricorder.

“Where’s the kids, are they okay?” Janice asked as soon as she saw Mike, but he didn’t answer her question.

“Do you know who attacked you?” Mike asked.

“No…we were cruising at warp five, all was well. Marc, Emmaline, and Christopher were playing back. The sensor panel beeped and K’Wor said there was a proximity alert, that’s when we were hit. Warp engines were knocked out, we slowed to impulse. K’Wor said a small ship was close to and firing. I tried to maneuver us away and he returned fire…we were hit again and I must have been knocked out. I…I thought I saw three people beam aboard..K’Wor was fighting with them, then I heard phaser fire. Next thing I remember was waking up with Doctors Brislan and Mclintock looking at me.”

Mike ran his fingers though Janice’s hair, and tried to reassure her with a smile, but she saw though it…

“Mike, where are the kids.” Janice demanded.

Mike took a deep breath, then started, “Christopher is in the next room, sleeping.” Mike’s voice became a little shaky as he continued, “K’Wor is missing…and Marc and Emmaline are…”

“No!” Janice said cutting Mike off, “No, don’t you say it!” He eyes quickly teared up as she shifted in her bed. “No…” she said again as she burst into tears.

Mike leaned in to hug his wife to comfort her, but she pushed him again, then slapped him. “It’s you fault!” She yelled, “All you had to do was tell Starfleet no, for once in your life!”

Mike wasn’t sure what to say or do. He already blamed himself enough, thinking he should have been there and if he was his children might be safe now. He also blamed himself because it all seemed to be a personal vendetta against him, and whoever was behind it was taking out their hate on his family and friends.

“I wish I was, I’d rather it be me than any of them…” Mike tried to say, but again Janice cut him off.

“It should be you laying in the morgue, not my children!”

Mike could hardly believe what he just heard his wife say…even though he blamed himself, he didn’t expect Janice to react like this…

“Get out!” She screamed at him. Mike pushed his anger and sorrow down, and did as his wife demanded…he left Sick Bay.

On his way back to the Bridge, he had to clear his eyes a few times, taking several deep breaths to calm his temper.

When he stepped back onto the Bridge he looked around for a moment before stepped out of the lift. K’Temoc had been standing beside Harrison at tactical when Mike entered the Bridge, and he turned to meet his brother.

Lee stiffen a little when the Admiral stepped onto the bridge, he could sense the turmoil in him but he kept his eyes on his station.

“How’s Janice?” K’Temoc asked.

“She blames me…and she’s right. It should be me laying in the morgue, not them…” Mike quietly replied.

He took another deep breath, then walked over to Coleman, Gillo, and Vid-Lotilija. “Report.”

Coleman shook his head before speaking. "I've never seen anything like this before. It's like they were there, but they weren't there. Even cloaked ships leave some form of their presence behind, but they were able to cover their tracks so well. Lt. Vid-Lotilija and I have been trying to work on it, but I haven't been able to find much personally."

"I had as little success as my esteemed colleague. From the scans I strongly believe they are still here in the vicinity, but searching for any type of disturbance didn't help at all." Vid-Lotilija was angry at herself, something was escaping her and it was disturbing. She knew they may be losing time, time they didn't actually have, but couldn't help... couldn't figure out what's wrong.

After listening to the reports Mike paused to process the information, then he remembered something Janice said…

“Alex, short range sensors, intense scans, sweep close abroad.”

Mike looked over Harrison’s shoulder as she scanned. After a moment, the sensors picked up something…

Alex didn't know how he knew but it didn't matter, "Good call. Got 'em."

“Small ship, its backing away…looks like they placed something on the hull.” Mike added.

K’Temoc had walked back over to the Strategic Ops station and was also scanning, “Looks like they placed three micro-tricobalt explosives on the hull! One against bulkhead ten, section A-2, of deck thirty-six, another on the top of the center-line nacelle, the other just behind the Bridge!”

Mike turned to Hurd who was still at Marine Ops, with Ramata'tar at Mission Ops beside him. “Colonel, take a squad and get decks thirty-nine though thirty-two cleared. Take the First with you. Pike keep an eye that ship, no matter what happens! Vid-Lotilija, scan for lifesigns aboard, look for a Klingon/Human. Gillo, Coleman find a way to get those explosives off the hull before they detonate.”

Mike walked down the ramp as he tapped his comm-badge, “Bremer to Sick-Bay stand by to receive wounded. Ensign Baratan, take your Security Team to Sick-Bay to assist Doctor Brislan’s teams as needed.” He tapped his commbadge to close the channel as he sat in his chair, he pulled up sensor readings of the small ship, “Alex, lock a tractor beam on that ship!”

"Yes sir." Alex turned back to her console, "Engaging tractor beam."

Saith left the main shuttle bay; her crew had meticulously investigated, cataloged, and recorded the debris that had been brought into the bay. She recorded her report and made a second copy for herself and placed in her own personal files with her secure encryptions. Then they had received the order to head to sickbay, which she promptly acknowledged. She nodded at an officer and left him to secure the shuttle and the debris.

On the way she tapped her communicator and asked for Captain Pike, “sir I have sent you the results of the debris we were looking at. There is an unidentified fluoropolymer type coating on the outer surface of the debris. I thought your team might want to look at it.” She quit talking more because they were running than because she was done reporting.

Lee tapped his badge:"Acknowledge Ensign, we'll get on it."

She and the rest of the team scooted out of the main shuttle bay and jogged towards sickbay, people moving out of their way as they approached. As they entered sick bay the team spread out at the doors so they would be out of the way. Saith looked for Dr. Brislan, her glance around Sick bay told her that they had preceded the wounded. “Doctor,” she addressed Brislan, “we are here to assist, where and what would you like us to do for you?”

On the Bridge, Mike watched the tractor beam reach out, but not grab hold of the ship, “He’s rotating his shield frequencies…lock phasers, disable his engines!”

The Pegasus’s phasers lanced out, hitting the small craft, but it turned on a dime and shot away into warp.

“Track him!” Mike yelled back to Vid-Lotilija and Pike.

Lee nodded as his hands flew over the controls on his console:"Aye sir will do."

"They were hiding in our shadow, how could I oversee it." She growled tapping on her console and followed the trail. "This is not good, not good at all, they are making small jumps, if we don't follow them soon we will not be able to track them after more than 3 jumps."

K’Temoc looked over his readings of explosives, “Protective coating is preventing transporter lock, and if I’m reading this right, we only have about two minutes before they detonate.”

While Coleman moved his fingers across the Engineering panel, he said, "I've been trying to transport it using several different methods, but thus far, nothing has worked. I'll keep at it though, sir." He kept trying to work with the transporters, tractor beams, as well as several other methods of trying to remove the devices from the hull.

"The only way I see these coming off is via physical intervention. Even then we are risking damaging the ship's outer hull to the point that repairs will be necessary once the threat is removed." Holly responded adding her two cents into what sensors were telling her from her station. Her knowledge of the ship's power systems and how dependent they were on the ship remaining intact was inspiring her to think of more basic ways of doing things and not relying on technology to solve their issues for them.

"We must remove the explosive from nacelle, others are not a problem.. at least not as much of a problem as that one, we can't fly without one nacelle." Explaining now what to do would take too much of precious time, so she tapped few commands and two EVA suits beamed to the Bridge. She jumped toward one, as soon as opened communication to transporter room. "I may need help." She pointed to second EVA suit. "Transporter room one, chief I need 3 Type I pattern enhancers and I need you to transport them and me to the location I sent you, on the nacelle." Vid-Lotilija ordered.

Lee stood up and turned around getting into the second EVA:"I'm going out there with you.

Alex turned towards Lee with a concerned look but didn't say anything.

Lee gave Alex a wink and said to her in her mind: "Don't worry I'll be ok Imzadi."

Vid-Lotilija watched Lee jump into suit twice her speed and made a mental note to make it an exercise. When they were both done, she yelled. "Transporter room, energize. Bridge, count time in 5s." She grabbed two of enhancers floating by her and tossed one to Lee, then turned to locate third. Grabbing it she moved as fast as possible toward the mine. It was bigger, much bigger than she expected from the scan, but again, nacelle was much bigger this close and personal then it looked from the picture on the display. She leaned to set first of the devices. "We need them in triangle, engage right away, don't wait for all of them to be set."

Lee nodded and headed off to start setting the enhancers.
