Mission: Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: Various
Timeline: MD1 -0700hrs

ON:

Mike arrived in Ops early. It had been a long couple or week sense the Starbase 400 Halloween Party. The fun of that night had quickly revered back to the hardship of war. The day after the party, the Alliance went on the offensive in the Alpha Quadrant. A Federation/Klingon/Cardassian/Ferengi fleet attacked Breen bases along the border and shipyards deeper in their territory. The attack was a success, damaging Breen infrastructure and forcing their fleet within the Beta Quadrant to pull back to protect their own territory.

Now, Starfleet wanted to take the fight to the Romulans. With many of their citizens and people in their government calling for an end the war, a major defeat might push them to the negotiating table. If the Romulans called for peace, the Alliance felt the rest of the Typhon Pact would also try to find a peaceful end to the bloody war.

The plan, worked up by Draven and K'Wor, was simple. With the Tholians all but out of the war, and the Breen pulled back to defend their own territory, a direct assault had the best chance of success. Launching from SB23, a combined Federation/Klingon/Cardassian//Ferengi/C'hakalian fleet of over two thousand ship, along with the last ships of the Romulan Republic would attack RDB20, the Romulans's main fleet deployment base in the area, and push toward Mol'Rihan (New Romulus). Intelligence knew a Typhon Pact fleet of over 500 ships would be waiting for them made up of Romulan/Krazzle/Gorn/Miradorn/Order/Tholian ships. Eliminating it could open the door to taking New Romulus itself.

To help make that work, Starbase 400's Special Operations Team would covertly go behind the lines and raid Romulan outposts on Unroth, Cratteris, and Psi Velorum. The raids would be simple, interrupt communications, pull ships from the main fleet to defend the outposts, and to hopefully cause some confusion making the real target of the Allied Fleet harder to guess.

As for the rest of the ships at Starbase 400, Starfleet put them in reserve. Not what Fleet Admiral Bremer wanted. Mike looked over the ship readiness report. With the Yorktown, Steadfast, Falcon, and Vanguard apart of the SOG mission, Mike only had a few ships he was willing to send into battle. He wanted to make sure a large enough defensive force would remain at Starbase 400, just in case.

Mike would command the Enterprise-E, along with the Essex, Lexington, Luna, Ark Royal, Sutherland, Laffey, and Tyr would be waiting with a squadron of Klingon ships and be ready to assist the main assault on New Romulus.

Mike sent a message to the ships' commanders to meet in Tactical Operations at 0800 to go over the plan of attack. The SOG would be departing before then.

Mission Ops

K'Temoc sent a message to Harrison, Bagwell, and MacLeod to meet him in Mission Ops. The Yorktown and Vanguard would go to Psi Velorum and attack the communications station and dry docks there. The Falcon would head to Unroth to attack their forward sensor net to try to blind the Romulans. The Steadfast would go to Cratteris and raid the supply depot and comm relays there. If all of the attacks are successful, it would rob the Romulans and Typhon Pact of the ability of detecting the incoming fleet and ability to call for reinforcements. It would also prevent them from quickly recovering after the coming battle. It was vital that these raids succeed.

Alex got the message. She was hoping that they wouldn't have to fight again. She was a little surprised that it was K'Temoc requesting her presence but with Starfleet and what was going on now, she knew there would be some kind of action taken on their part. She walked in to see that she was the first to arrive.

Ezekiel wondered what mission the Admiral had planned for him this time. He had observed that a lot of 0700 hour meetings meant for him, another deployment. Not that he minded. He loved his ship, and his crew was starting to mold together. He thought when they got back, that he would want to spend a lot of time on the station, but he found himself, wanting to be back on the Falcon. Ironic how that worked out.

Ezekiel walked over to the Admiral, with a cup of coffee in his hand. He was ready for this mornings briefing. He wondered, where the Falcon, would be sent next.

Mac was the last to arrive. "Sorry I'm late."

K'Temoc nodded. "Thank you all for coming. I'll keep this brief since we need to launch. As you know, Starfleet and the Alliance launched an offensive in the Alpha Quadrant against the Breen. It's pulled the majority of their forces out of the Beta Quadrant. Now, it's time for an offensive here against the Romulans. Between us, I'm hoping this means an end to the war by Christmas."

K'Temoc smiled for a moment, then tapped a button on the wall display. "We're going behind the lines to hopefully give an opening to the main attack force. The Yorktown and Vanguard are going to Psi Velorum and attack the communications station and dry docks there. The Falcon is assigned to Unroth to attack their forward sensor net to try to blind the Romulans. The Steadfast is going to Cratteris to raid the supply depot and comm relays there. If all of the attacks are successful, it will rob the Romulans and Typhon Pact of the ability of detecting the incoming fleet and ability to call for reinforcements. Questions? Comments?"

Ezekiel hoped his crew was up to the task. They were mainly a special operations unit. This would be their first solo project. This would be a good time for them to shine. And show the Admiral why Special Operations Beta Team, was ready and able. "Do we have any intelligence drone data on the Unroth System? I assume our attacks will be coordinated and expected to go down simultaneously?" Ezekiel asked as he looked over to the Admiral. He wanted to study the plans, to make this a quick surgical strike.

Alex looked over at K'Temoc with the same question in mind. They'd have to get to their targets without being detected and time the attacks perfectly. She was interested to hear the details of the plan of attack.

"We have data from Captain Oh's scouting of the planets. Unroth had a task group of sixteen ships defending it, but they were pulled off when we retook Starbase 400. They were replaced by a squadron of Snakehead fighters and one Mogai Class cruiser. They also upgraded their shielding, planet side. The sensor array is in high orbit so the shield shouldn't be an issue." K'Temoc explained.

K'Temoc then looked at Harrison, "Cratteris had most of their ships pulled away too. They have a squadron of Scorpion Class fighters and Mogai Class for defense. The Comm relay and depo are both planet side, so their defensive shields will be an issue but they haven't been upgraded."

"The Yorktown and Vanguard will have a tougher time of it. Psi Velorum's targets are all space side, but they have one defensive weapons platform protecting the comm relay and another near the dry docks. The dry docks also have ships docked. While most are powered down, at least three or them are nearing relaunch status. There's no mention of other defensive assets, but we have to believe something else it there." K'Temoc explained.

"Sounds like this is a sneak in, thrown a few quick punches, and get out type of mission." Mac said.

"Yes." K'Temoc replied.

"The Falcon, will be ready sir. You can count on us. Will begun tactical drills, as soon as we depart for the Unroth System." Ezekiel pointed out to him. His objective was straight forward, but things could go sideways fast, so he wanted to make sure his guys were ready for anything.

Tactical Operations

Mike walked into the CiC just before 0800, after watching the Yorktown, Steadfast, Falcon, and Vanguard depart. He waited for everyone else to arrive.

Deela and Alex had bumped into each other on the way to their briefings. Alex asked her if she knew what was going on. Deela didn't have much info to give her so it was a brief conversation. They parted ways, both feeling a little frustrated that there still was no peace.

Deela made her way to Tactical Operations and walked in. Upon seeing Mike, she acknowledged his presence. She was fed up with the whole situation, "Well, here we are, again."

Bremer smirked, "Once more unto the breach."

After getting the call Lee left his office then made his way to Tactical Ops "So what's going on with the Pact now?"

After having received the call from Admiral Bremer, Jack nodded to his relief to take over and made his way from Ops down to Tactical Operations where he found Bremer, Deela and Lee having already arrived.

He walked over to join the others. "So, what did they break this time?" Jack offered as some light relief, seeing a smile appear on the faces of the others. Seeing that this was a more serious situation which he suspected involved the Typhon Pact, Jack straightened himself in a more serious pose.

"Commander Solomon, reporting as ordered," Jack said.

Next through the door was Xalanth. the lizard had been reading over the reports from the night shift which he tucked into his pocket before taking his seat giving everyone a polite nod. " Lieutenant Xalanth reporting as ordered," he said camly.

Zandusky made his way to the conference as quickly as he could. Like many others, he was light on sleep. He'd just returned late the previous night from a few weeks of detached duty at Beta Quadrant Command. As he walked to a seat for the meeting, he nodded to those he passed and locked gazes with Bremer long enough to say, "Good morning, Admiral.

Once everyone arrived, Mike started. "Thank you all for coming. The war is coming to an end and we're hoping to have everyone home for Christmas." Mike paused to let his words sink in.

Mike then explained the Alliance's offensive in the Alpha Quadrant and how it had pulled most Breen forces out of the Beta Quadrant to protect their territory as a prelude to the coming operation. "We have a plan devised by Mister Draven and Ensign K'Wor. With the Tholians all but out of the war, and the Breen pulled back to defend their own territory in the Alpha Quadrant, a direct assault against the Romulans has the best chance of success. Launching from SB23, a combined Federation/Klingon/Cardassian//Ferengi/C'hakalian fleet of over two thousand ships, along with the last ships of the Romulan Republic will attack RDB20, the Romulans's main fleet deployment base in the area, and push toward Mol'Rihan (New Romulus). Intelligence knows a Typhon Pact fleet of over 500 ships will be waiting for them made up of Romulan/Krazzle/Gorn/Miradorn/Order/Tholian ships. Eliminating it could open the door to taking New Romulus itself. Our own Special Operations Group is leading the way with covert raid behind Romulan lines that will blind them to the incoming fleet, eliminate forward support facilities, and maybe draw ships away from their main force. If the Romulans capitulate, Starfleet Command believes the rest of the Typhon Pact will as well."

Mike waited a few moments before going on. "Starbase 400 will be leading the support force. For once, we're not leading the assault. If needed, The Enterprise, Essex, Sutherland, Juno, Tyr, Laffey, Lexington, and a small force of other Starfleet and Klingon ships will war in to assist. We'll be departing in an hour for a point near the Romulan border and stand ready to assist. I want your ships ready to go."

Mike paused, then looked at Xalanth. "Lieutenant, you'll be aboard the Essex for the mission. I want you to meet with either Lieutenant Roebuck or Lieutenant Locke and have them as acting Security Chief while gone. Make sure they're aware of all updated security protocols."

"Will do sir." The lizard replied calmly though deep down he was disappointed at being separated from Fulvia after such a short time

Mike looked around, "Questions anyone?"

"Where would you like me to be at Admiral?" Lee asked.

"Commanding the Luna." Mike replied.

Jack shook his head to indicate that there were no questions from himself now that the briefing was concluded, however, he did add an updated and escalated list to his Engineering PADD to make sure that the Juno was next on his list after sorting out the EPS conduits on the station that required attention.

With the loss of the Ark Royal, Jack was also happy to know that he'd been assigned the Juno, for now, to continue with Engineering Operations and Support for the fleet.

Mike looked around, "If there's no more questions lets get your ships prepped to leave within the hour. Dismissed."
