Mission: Episode 106 – Stalemate

Timeline: MD05 1900 hrs

~ USS Falcon, Quarters ~

Zeke looked over to Anna, he had a big grin on his face. "Have made contact with Ariana, our holographic channel is opening soon." Zeke called out, as he looked to Anna, with excitement in his voice.

Anna smiled widely. “Oh good! I can’t wait to see how she is doing!” Like Zeke she was excited to talk to their friend.


~ USS Mercy, Quarters ~

Ariana was feeding Stacie when the comms alerted her to an incoming transmission. She smiled as she saw it was from Anna and Zeke, she hadn't seen either of them in some time.

~ USS Falcon, Quarters ~

Zeke eagerly waited for the call to come in. He noticed a young woman, and a baby. "Hello, " Zeke called out, with a big grin on his face. Little Stacy was growing so fast.

“Zeke!” Ariana smiled. “It’s good to see you my friend. It seems like forever since last time we talked.”

Anna came over and sat down next to Zeke and smiled as she looked at the screen, letting Zeke answer before she said anything.

“Anna, how are you?” Ariana smiled.

“I am good,” Anna replied. “Stacie is changing so much I hardly recognize her.” She loved babies and was so happy for Ariana. “How are you both doing?”

“We’re fine, thank you Anna” Ariana smiled warmly. “Actually Stacie is going to be a little sister, I’m pregnant!”

Zeke was a little surprised by this news, he grabbed Ana close just off the screen where Ariana couldn't see, and he smiled as he said "congratulations." it was a little envious because him and and we're still trying to have their first child. He meant with all sincerity the congratulations, he just made.

“Thank you” Ariana smiled warmly. “We’re on our way to the large family that Cameron wants!” She grinned. “How are things with both of you?”

“We are good,” Anna said with a smile. “Congratulations!” She was happy for them and meant every word but there was a part of her that wished that news would come for her and Zeke. Maybe they were just trying to hard.

“No news for you yet I’m guessing?” Ariana looked at Anna.

“Not yet,” Anna replied quietly. “When is your baby due?”

“Not for a while yet” Ariana smiled. “I’m only just about 10 weeks, so another 7 to 8 months to go.”

"Twins?" Zeke asked, hoping not to stir the kettle black too much. He knew that she had twins before and was just curious, if this pregnancy she was expecting twins again.

Ariana smiled at Zeke’s enthusiasm. “Not this time Zeke, just the one. I think twins last time was because my husband had us go to a clinic to get pregnant. Seems one is more the norm for me.”

"You will have your hands full with just the one," Anna smiled. "But I know you would have been just as happy with twins. You are a good mother."

“Thank you Anna” Ariana smiled. “I’ll let you in on a secret. Don’t force trying to conceive, just relax and enjoy yourselves. It’ll happen for you I’m sure it will.”

"Very kind of you to say, when the time is right. It will be our time. How are you settling in on the Mercy?" Zeke asked, seeing that she had her hands full with the kids. But she was also a counselor by trade. He wondered, how she was balancing both.

“It’s going well. I have Cameron and Stacie here with me so that puts my mind at rest about them. Hades has been teaching me all about being an XO and he’s putting me through the bridge officer’s test.”

Anna sat back and listened as they spoke. She felt unsettled and finally got up and went to get some water. There was a lot on her mind which she really wasn’t wanting to talk about. She listened as they talked and returned, taking a seat she drank from her glass.

“Is everything alright Anna?” Ariana had noticed that Anna seemed unsettled.

"I am good," Anna spoke up after a moment. "I have a lot of things on my mind but mostly about what we've all been going through. It's nothing to worry about."

“Are you sure? I’m good to talk if you want to talk about it?” Ariana smiled warmly.

“When I am ready,” Anna murmured. “I promise.” She leaned into Zeke. “Do you have names picked out?”

“Not yet, I’ll wait until I know what we’re having then have a heart to heart with Cameron and choose names.”

"Good luck on that test, it can be a little worrisome, but its needed for command. I know you can do it." Zeke said, changing the topic off of baby names and the stress that Anna might be feeling. They glanced over her comment of taking the test.

“I’m not sure if I’ll pass first time but I’ll try my hardest.” Ariana smiled. “Hades has become a mentor to me, I want to thank him by passing first time.”

“You will do it,” Anna replied with confidence. “I have confidence in you, I know it!” She was relieved that Zeke has changed the subject.

“Thanks for the vote of confidence!” Ariana grinned. “I guess I should be getting back to reading up on the test, I need all the help I can get.”

"We have a few things to do around here too, after we get back on the station, we want to take you out for dinner?" Zeke suggested to Ariana, hoping she would be up for the idea.

“He is right,” Anna added. “It would be good to see you and dinner would be nice.”

Ariana nodded. “I’d love to! How soon until you get back to the rest of the fleet?”

"We are still conducting more patrols, along the border. I hope soon though. I really miss you all." Zeke said, with a hint of sincerity in his voice.

“Likewise Zeke” Ariana smiled warmly. “You stay safe out there okay?”

“We will do our best,” Anna spoke up. “See you soon.”

“See you soon” Ariana smiled as she gave them a little wave before the screen went blank.
