Mission: Episode 97 - Cultural Exchange
Location: Marine Ops
Timeline: MD 8 0900 Hours

Walking back to his office, General Hurd was in a somewhat decent mood. His personal life was kind of stable, his Marines, the rowdy bunch, were behaving themselves, and nothing else had gone wrong so all in all it was quiet, and Hurd liked that.

Winding around a corner he saw a Marine who he had never seen before, and he knew all his men by name and face. Walking to about 3 feet from the Marine and said, ''A moment Marine''.

Kaden was busy writing his itinerary he was trying to figure out if he had gotten all the details about the 22nd Division correct but was working on his plans on things he wanted to change or keep. Hearing a voice he was still looking at the PADD as he lifted his index finger. “Quick question, was the former CO and XO of the 22nd killed?''

Growling, David said, "As far as i know not." ''Now stand at attention Marine, General on the deck!!!'.

Kaden was still looking at his PADD almost waving off the fool that was pretending to a so-called ‘General’ as he made a few notes real quick. “Yeah very funny, pal, I know I am new here but I have no time for pranks.” He looked up and saw that the fellow he was talking to was a General. “Oh Shit...” Kaden snapped to attention and saluted the man. “Sir, I am sorry I had no idea I assumed you were just someone trying to play a joke on me!” He hoped the General would take no offense to his outburst with the issue with his wife still fresh on his mind last Kaden needed was a General in his ass.

Cracking a wicked smile, Hurd said, "At ease Marine''. Studying the man, he smiled agin and said, "Its ok, i can understand pranks belive me.'' ''So, how are you likeing your new post thus far?''

“Nervous this is my first command of a entire Division of Marines to think I hope one day to be in your shoes, General.” Kaden confessed as he relaxed a little.

"Oh dont be, trust me when i say its a whole lot of paperwork, and a monumental amount of responsibility". Study the man up and down, he asked, "So tell me about yourself Marine".

Kaden didn’t like the man trying to discourage him from his life goal he was aware of the duties required for the role but it was something he wanted. However he didn’t like the General looking him over as if he was looking for flaws or something but tried to not show it. “Not much to say...came from a long line of family that served in the military dating all the way back to the French and Indian War ended after MACO was disbanded in 2162 family spent the last 225 years giving the Federation the middle finger for basically treating military folks like they didn’t mean much for their sacrifices as the idea of a devoted military organization alongside Starfleet was ‘Too barbaric and not what the Federation should stand for.’ don’t quote me on that.”

Frowning, Hurd said, "I know what you you mean by the Federationtreating us as despensable, i have experienced that myself to be honest with you" Ajusting his Pistole belt, Hurd added, "I have no doubt at all after reading your service record that you will make a capable Marine Officer and one day a Capable General".

Kaden tapped the PADD in his hand. “I hope so, I read a lot of books on the greatest military minds the Federation had my Great Great Grandfather being one of them before being discarded like an antique. I hope I can implement a few things into the 22nd but not completely mess things up from the last Commander, traditions and all.”

Looking at him, Hurd said, "I know you will." Saluting and starting to walk away, he added as he was walking. "Make us proud Marine".

Just like that Kaden was alone he didn't even have time to properly salute the General back but it appeared he was in a bit of a rush. Clearing his throat he resumed back to PADD and started the walk towards his quarters hoping supper was ready as he was craving his wife's cooking.
