Kalani stood in awe of her new home. This was….the most amazing place. So far she’d met with Vox, had breakfast at the Breakfast Nook, had coffee and cake and she’d visited a spa and even found a store that sold her beloved miniatures.
She was so happy she wanted to cry. After all the suffering in her life, the pain, the betrayal she was where she wanted to go and every tear felt worth it. She walked around in a bit of a daze unable to wipe the smile off her face. She had to repeatedly tell herself that she was here, this was home. Smiling from ear to ear. She felt like hugging ever post, chair, and shop. Her excitement was positively hard to contain. She’d opted for a pair of jeans and a T-shirt she still had from the Academy since she was off duty today.
Her hands had a couple of shopping bags and she was on top of the world. She had yet to unpack but she would later today and she would finally start enjoying her life. She thought of her time on Cardassia. It had been fruitful in so many ways. She was working on getting an archaeology display for the station in one of the empty cargo bays. Tomorrow she would start on that so even at work she was on top of the world.
Deela had been pretty busy since she returned from Cardassia. She needed a break and decided that she'd get something to eat before returning to OPS. She saw Kalani looking around in awe. It made Deela smile.
Deela walked up to her with a smile, "Hi Kalani, looks like you have been busy shopping."
"Admiral!" She gave the woman a quick hug. "This place is...I mean wow." She smiled, "It's like a dream." She blushed green a bit. "I shouldn't be spending so much but...There is so much here to buy and see and everyone has been so nice. I had breakfast, and I even had an aroma therapy massage and smelled like..." She winced. "Sorry I know I talk a lot." She smiled, "How are you Admiral?"
"It is okay." Deela was taken aback, not expecting the hug, "I am doing fine now that I am back with my kids. I was just going to get something to eat before I go back to OPS."
Kalani smiled, "Kids? Oh how wonderful!" She linked her arm through Deela's. Kalani had always been the touchy feely type. Not matter what she'd gone through in life she'd always been friendly and had an innocents and love of everyone. "Well I'll buy lunch then! What do you feel like?"
"You are buying so it is your choice." Deela didn't have her sights set on any particular place.
"Excellent!" She smiled, "I'm so excited! This station is super big and there is so much to see and guess what I discovered that some stores offer tabs and you even have a cook kitchen here, I love to cook, it relaxes me and I try to do it as often as I can....ohhh! and I got to meet Vox he needs me to carbon date some things, Admiral Bremer suggested I meet him isn't that amazing...someone on the station who likes old things as much as I do!" She seemed to be speaking a thousand words a minute. Her excitement was there and easy to see.
Deela couldn't help but smile, "That is. This station is big and I am sure that you will be meeting a great deal of amazing people with the same interests."
The two walked a ways and found a little café on the promenade. Once the food was ordered and they were seated Kalani turned to her new friend. "Admiral. I have done some research for you."
"You have?"
She pulled out a PADD and gave it the Admiral. "This is the Bajoran myth about the Orb of love. It also talks about those two stones I told you about. The guardian stones. It's all the information I could find in the databases."
Deela picked up the PADD and looked at it. She raised an eyebrow, "This is quite interesting."
She gave a nod. "You seemed interested I love researching. Love talking history." She smiled. The food arrived quickly and they dug in. Kalani seemed to be in heaven. "There is nothing like real food. I love to cook so when I taste cooked food It feels like heaven!" She smiled at Deela. "I'll have to cook for you sometime." Suddenly her eyes widened. "OH MY GOSH! I could do a party...or cooking...or do you have a morale officer maybe a cooking tutorial on the station!"
The two spent the rest of the meal talking and getting to know one another. Kalani instantly liked the Admiral more. She was kind and very wise. She could truly say that she'd made a friend and that made it hard to stop smiling. All in all this was proving to be a great day.
