2,110 words; about a 11 minute read

Mission: Episode 96 - A Visitor From the Past
Location: Starbase 400
Timeline: MD1 1230hrs

ON:

After leaving the airlock, K'Temoc returned to his office. He'd already requested Captain Harrison, Commander Bagwell, and Commander MacLeod of the SOG to attend. He'd also sent for Captain DeSilvor, Commander Rann, and Major Harris. With the station locked down because of the ion storm, now would be a good time for an intel briefing for officers not helping with repairs to the Enterprise.

Alex got the message and left for K'Temoc's office. Once there, she entered his office with permission. She noticed that she was the first one to arrive. She took a seat and waited for the others.

Zeke was already on his way to K'Temoc's office. His mind was still pre occupied, hoping that Lieutenant Monroe was recovering nicely. Luckily she had Cadet Mattson, looking after her. Zeke wasted little time making it to his office. He waited for the Admiral to start the briefing.

Andre was on the promenade when he received the message. After the last few days of semi idleness he was grateful for something to do. He understood from the reports that the away mission had had its moments of fun, but here on the station it had been pretty quite.

About 5 minutes later he walked into the office, made his acknowledgements and sat down with everybody else.

Zeke looked to K'Temoc to start the meeting officially. There was a few stragglers, but he wondered how long K'Temoc would wait before starting the meeting. The moment of silence, was nice but also awkward for Zeke. He hated the idea of being a room with a bunch of people, and no one saying anything.

Rann and MacLeod came in within seconds of each other. Rann took a seat with a scowl on his face. The Bolian looked around the room to see who was gathered, then his eyes went back to the PADD in his left hand. Mac on the other hand ordered a green tea from the food slot before taking a seat. He nodded to Bagwell then to K'Temoc.

K'Temoc glanced around the room. "We'll give Major Harris a few more minutes before we start."

K'Temoc got up and grabbed another cup of raktijno. After sitting back down he looked over a PADD for a moment before getting the meeting started.

"Alright, I'm not sure what's holding the Major up, but let's get started. As you all know, the station is still on lock down with the passing ion storm. Also, as you may know, all windows facing the internal bay have been locked down too. This information is need to know and doesn't leave this room, but it seems we have a visitor from the past. The Starship Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk was somehow thrown forward in time from 2269. The ship is damaged and right now, they aren't sure where they are and haven't been told when they are. There's a team aboard her now trying to help, but they are keeping the timeline incursion a secret as long as possible to try to limit any pollution of the timeline." K'Temoc explained.

"We really don't want a visit from temporal investigations." Rann added without looking up from his PADD.

K'Temoc smirked.

Rann then looked up. "A few intelligence notes. The Gorn homeworld suffered a planet-wide catastrophic seismic event followed by tsunamis over the last week. We're not sure what caused it, but Starfleet Cartography is looking into it. In response, Gorn ships from SS'kar station raided the Klingon planet Gy'tog. They mainly took food, medical supplies, industrial replicators, and even a few ships that were docked in orbit. The Klingons retaliated by attacked Ts'rar Station. Starbase 99 monitored both raids and have boosted patrols along the Federation border. The Federation has offered air to the Gorn, but the Gorn haven't responded. We've also asked the Klingons to hold off on any additional retaliatory strikes, and Chancellor Martok has agreed as long as the Gorn stay on their side of the border."

K'Temoc then added, "Also, a Section 31 Operative known as 'Cyrus' was spotted on DS14 yesterday. He was last seen on Starbase 349 three years ago. Starfleet Intelligence isn't sure why he's spent the last few years in the Raeyan Expansion Area, or what he's doing there. They aren't even sure what his real name is." He took a sip of his raktijno, then looked back at everyone gathered. "Questions?"

Andre cleared his throat and asked, "Do we have any idea how we are going to get that Enterprise back to its own time without the crew knowing?" James Kirk and his senior crew understand the need for secrecy in time travel situations, why not let him know when they are? He could issue orders to make sure nobody goes on unofficial fishing trips."

K'Temoc smirked. "I think Mike wanted to keep it as low profile as possible, both of the Enterprise crew and everyone on the station. They'll have to tell Kirk and company at some point."

"I know I am pretty new to this unit, probably have a few more files to read, but what interest does Section 31 have in this sector of space? I know it sits in the middle of several major powers, but this group likes to work in the shadows, so it makes me wonder why would they risk exposure for this sector of space?" Asked Zeke, hoping someone would fill him in.

"Truthfully, I'm not sure. We do have a former Section 31 operative in our maximum security brig right now. We've also had a few run ins with an assassin for hire known as Mörderin, perhaps they're looking for him too. I have a feeling though, this is another shadow game. Intel's eyes get fixed on Cyrus, but another operative is up to no good." K'Temoc replied.

"He's definitely gotten Intel's attention." Rann added.

"I do have a mission for you." K'Temoc said to Bagwell. I'd like you to take the Falcon to the Klingon/Gorn border, see what's going on. See if hostilities have cooled down. Then, get as close as you can to the Gorn homeworld, take scans of the planet, see what the level of destruction is. This is a covert mission, so you'll be under cloak and rigged for silent running. Avoid patrols. The Klingons destroyed Gorn sensor arrays and border defenses near Ts'rar Station so you can slip into Gorn territory there. You won't launch until the Enterprise departs and the ion storm is gone."

"Understood, the Falcon and her crew will be ready." Zeke said, as he started to think about the mission for a moment. Then he paused and told himself, think about it after the meeting.

"Perhaps Captain DaSilvor would be willing to go along as the mission XO, since several officers are tied up with the Enterprise right now." K'Temoc asked. "Some may need a break. Just let me know who you'd like as your senior officers for the mission."

Andre nodded, "I'm good with that, Admiral. I'll leave the choice of officers to the Commander."

Zeke was still new to command, and he was a little annoyed to have the trainer tagging along. But it was to be expected. This was his first mission into deep space, and Captain DaSilvor would be monitoring his leadership. "Welcome aboard Captain, I mean no disrespect and would love t o have the Captain on our maiden voyage. May I suggest that Captain DaSilvor be a mission advisor, if the plan here is to test my crew's performance and mine, it would probably be easier for the captain to do so in an advisory role?" Asked Zeke, hoping Captain DaSilvor and Admiral K'Temoc would agree.

K’Temoc nodded. ‘Test one passed’ he thought to himself. “That’ll be fine.”

Andre caught the Admirals eye and nodded, that sounded good to him.

K’Temoc then looked over to Mac. “What’s the status of the Venator?”

“The ship is in good shape, ready to go. I’ve already selected a crew, including two of the officers that transferred over from the Hew Hampshire with me. I plan to take her out for a training cruise once the Enterprise departs and the storm clears.” MacLeod replied. He handed K’Temoc a PADD with his department heads listed.

“That’ll have to wait. While the Falcon is along the Klingon/Gorn border, I want you to take the Venator to DS6, pick up a Starfleet Intel team, and take them to Algorab within Romulan space. This will be a get in and get out fast covert infiltration mission.” He read over the list of officers MacLeod handed him.

Lieutenant Commander Patel - XO
Lieutenant Carter –CS/TO
Lieutenant Robinson - CEO
Lieutenant Tenu – CSO
Lieutenant Archer – COps
Lieutenant Murphy – CFCO
Lieutenant Cross – CIntel

K’Temoc knew Robinson, Archer, and Cross. They were good officers. Carter had been transferred to SB400 from the New Hampshire but he hasn’t met him. Cross had come from the New Hampshire too, but being an Intel Officer, they had spoken a few times. Murphy had been aboard SB400 for years, but they had never worked together, but he knew he was a good pilot. Tenu, the only Kelpien aboard the station, was new and he hadn’t met him. Patel was an experienced officer, but K’Temoc hadn’t worked with her yet either. The crew of the Venator herself had been aboard the ship for years, and they knew their ship well.

“Alright Mac, staff approved. Rememebr though, Lieutenant Archer is also assigned to Ops, so he needs to return safely.” K’Temoc smirked.

K’Temoc made some notes on his PADD, then returned Mac’s to him. “Captain Harrison, anything you’d like to add?”

Alex shook her head, "Nothing comes to mind." The only thought she had was why she was even here.

Zeke remained quite allowing Captain Harrison the floor, but in his mind he started to think of his senior staff manifest for the USS Falcon. He hoped the crew was ready to go back out again. He worked them hard on the battle simulation drills. Now they where going on a real mission and would have a trainer assigned to the mission as an advisor.

Commander Ezekiel Bagwell, Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Commander Sarah Rodgers, Executive Officer
Lieutenant Anna Woodhouse, Chief Medical Officer
Lieutenant Junior Grade Dustin Reynolds, Chief of Security
Lieutenant Junior Grade Samuel Carrington, Chief Control Flight Officer
Lieutenant Junior Grade Aubrey Miller, Chief Engineer

Zeke was very proud of his crew, and he hoped the captain would be, when he came aboard to review there performance. He wondered what type of trainer Captain DaSilvor was. He hoped reasonable and not a hard ass, that loved to torture people.

As the meeting came to a close, Andre walked over to Commander Bagwell, "Ready to move out when you are, Commander."

"Yes Captain, I will prepare for your arrival." Simply said Zeke, thinking to himself, that he needs to talk to his first officer and his girlfriend about their new mission. Zeke was happy they were going on there first official meeting.

Andre left the commander and made his way to his own quarters. He hoped that his career from this point on, was not going to be solely training new officers. He knew he was in his 60's, but he would outlive everyone on the station. Still if a push came to a shove he could always find other ways of keeping himself busy outside starfleet. He briefly wondered how his wife, Dalenna, fancied going freelance. Gathering up a few things from their quarters, he headed out to the USS Falcon. Last time he had seen this ship he had almost relieved the commanding officer and replaced him with the ships XO. He silently hoped this mission was going to go more to plan.

Alex left, still wondering what her role was in this, at least, until she got back and was greeted by her twins.

K'Temoc stated for a few minutes after everyone left. He made a few notes, then set the PADD down. He could tell Harrison seemed distant during the briefing. As the group's deputy commander, he wanted her there so she was up to date on everything. However, with her recent pregnancy and birth to twins, he also didn't want to give her much to do so she had time for her family. He felt the winds of war blowing, and after his recent run in with the Romulans, he was trying to keep her out of harms way as long as he could...without telling her so.
