Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Hunter II
Timeline: MD2 2055hrs, Following 'Repairs and Investigation Pt2'

Planet Surface
While T’Lyn was reporting to, Lennox gathered a group of Engineers and Marines around.
“All right, listen up. We need to get these emergency shelters set up and route power to them. It’s going to get cold tonight. Wooldridge, Blackthorne take care of those two. Ermey, take three Marines and go with them.” Lennox pointed at a few of the unset up shelters then four Marines to assist the Engineers.
“Heron, Shrok you’ve got those of there. Vaal, take three Marines with you and help them.” Lennox then added.
"Maddox, Logan, and Green!" Olga barked. "Your with me." She told the marines before the four began assembling shelters.
Lennox then looked back over at Agtx, then over at T’Lyn and awaited any additional orders.
Giaus and his squad were now ready to check out the second settlement. After he formed them up, he noticed an unfamiliar Captain giving orders to some Marines. Knowing the Major was busy on the comms, he approached the other officer. "Excuse me Captain. I am Chief Aquila. When Major T'Lyn is freed up from comms, can you advise her that MARSOC headed to the second settlement to conduct recon?"
"Absolutely Chief." Lennox replied.
"Thank you Sir." Giaus took leave of the Captain. He moved out his squad. As they were leaving the Area of Operations, they passed the Landing Zone for the shuttles. At the edge of the LZ, off loaded equipment and supplies started to stack up in a make shift Supply Depot. The MARSOC Marines were good regarding food, water, and energy cells. But the small row of Argo vehicles caught his eye. "Gunny Monaj, do you see what I see?" The large Nausican eyed the four wheeled craft and replied, "Why walk when you could ride Chief?"
Minutes later, three Argos, one for each Fire team, sped out of the base camp.
After T'Lyn finished and looked at the rest, "Status report?" she asked first off since she missed what was said.
"Major, we're pretty much wrapped up here with rescue and recovery. I've assigned teams to work on setting up prefab emergency shelters and we've transported all injured to the Mercy." Lennox replied. "Also, a Chief Aquila is looking for you, said the MARSOC is headed to the smaller second settlement."
She nodded the looked around, "Let's make sure that they have everything they need. I'll be patrolling the area to make sure everything is being taken care of." T'Lyn stated looking at Lennox, "Just get the emergency buildings up, if you need additional assistance let me know and I'll contact Jackson to send down additional people and supplies if needed." T'Lyn stated
"Keep up the good work men, you have all performed well since we have been here." T'Lyn stated sending her way of encouragement to the Marines that were currently under her command.
Second Settlement
It was a bumpy ride for Aquila's people, as the Argos traversed a heavily damaged roadway. To their temporary relief, there were no bodies to be seen. On the other hand, there were no refugees to be seen heading to either the first settlement, or the base camp. There was also no wildlife to be seen in the area as well. Columns of smoke grew into view as they got closer to the settlement. As they went over the last hill on the road before the settlement, it became clear as to why there was no flow of refugees. Aquila gave a command. "Stop the Argos!" Unlike the ruins of the first settlement, there was nothing but a series of craters centered around one large one. Some debris can be seen among them.
The vehicles screeched to a halt. Then they slowly left the road, and assumed a three point vehicle perimeter next to the road. "Alpha and Bravo Teams will conduct a foot recon into what is left of that settlement. Gunny, you and Charlie Team stay with the vehicles and provide us cover with those big guns. Keep your ears open, in case we need you to come down for a dust off. Let's do this!"
Charlie team put the vehicles on line as a Marine manned the gun in each one of them. Giaus and the other two teams assumed their wedge formations, and walked towards the settlement. Giaus started to scan around with his tricorder. So far, no life signs could be detected. But there were some residual energy readings, readings not native to this planet, or any Federation settlement. "Stay alert", he said to his men.
Then he started to pick up some faint life signs from a crater directly left of them. At his direction, the two teams took turns making short runs towards the crater as they covered each other. As the team entered the crater, they found some survivors, holding their hands up as they looked horrified at the Marines. "Please don't kill us! We gave you everything we have!", yelled a woman. Giaus spoke back, "We are not here to hurt anyone. Federation Marines Ma'am." The woman appeared to relax, and then embraced the Chief. "What happened here?" The woman's answer disgusted him. "Aquila to Gunney Manaj, bring in Charlie Team to my immediate area, and form a perimeter."
The MARSOC Marines found more survivors, as well as bodies among the craters and rubble. But they were too small of an element to search , or secure the entire area. "Chief Aquila to Major T'Lyn or Captain Lennox, requesting a QRF to my location, followed by Medical. Be advised that the settlement is only partially secured, and that there was some outlaw activity here after the disaster."
She tapped her commbadge, "Were on our way." She stated then she looked at Lennox and the others. "Well, we have another situation." She stated looking at Lennox. "Let’s round up a team and get down there, have medical along." T'Lynn stated.
Lennox tapped his commbadge, “Vaal, Agtx, Ermey, get your Rifle Teams together, let’s move out.” He then looked over at Wooldridge, “Lieutenant, there’s trouble in the next Vil. We’re going to leave a small unit here and advise Colonel Jackson aboard the Saratoga to be ready to beam down additional Marines here as needed.”
Wooldridge, face blackened and clothes torn, turned to face him and said "Roger that sir good luck". he then turned to face his boys. "Right, you heard the Captain, Watson, Truman, get those RSJ's set up, Walshie, jump onto comms and let Saratoga know they need more men ASAP, everybody good?". everyone nodded and got down to it.
Lennox then rounded everyone up. The MARSOC Team had used all of the Argos to head for the second village, so he glanced at Major T’Lyn then tapped his commbadge, “Lennox to Saratoga, transport Major T’Lyn’s and my teams to Chief Aquila's position.”
A moment later, the group of Marines shimmered away.
"Understood", Giaus replied. He turned to face Gunny. "Status?"
The large Marine answered, "Well Chief, we have about a third of this settlement secured for sure. Our Medic is treating the survivors that we do have, but his MedKit is starting to run dry. Tricorder readings indicate some more life signs outside of our perimeter that are consistent with the settlers, meaning that we have more survivors, and probably negative on hostiles. I can take a team to do a sweep of the rest of the settlement..."
"Negative. Under wartime conditions, I would say Go for it. But this is rescue mission, meaning no unnecessary risks. We will wait for the QRF to arrive. For now, we take care of those within our perimeter."
"Aye Sir."
Further questioning of those survivors that could speak indicate that they were raided hours before the Fleet's arrival. After looting the settlement, they blasted the place as they departed. Again, Giaus was going to be cautious, just in case.
T’Lyn, Lennox, and they group of Marines shimmered in as they arrived near Aquila's location.
"Let’s go find the team and help them with what they need." T'Lyn stated as they started off towards the team.
A team member advised Giaus of the QRF's arrival near their perimeter. "Gunny Monaj. I need you to take an argo, and link up with the QRF. Direct them to the areas we did not secure."
"Aye Sir!" The Nausican hopped into one of the vehicles, and sped away towards the relief force. It did not take long for him to spot the Major. He altered his course towards her. When he got to her, he halted the vehicle, and ran to her.
She noticed the Nausican move toward them, "Report?" she asked looking at the Gunny Officer headed towards them.
Pulling out a PADD, he put it on map display. "Major, we have about a third of the settlement secure with about thirty survivors, most in need of medical attention. They have received first aide, but will require further treatment. " He pointed to part of the map, "The other two thirds have not been cleared yet. According to survivors, they were raided almost twenty four hours before our arrival. Even though scans did not indicate any recent activity, we called for a QRF to safely secure the rest of the settlement, and gather the rest of the survivors."
Lennox looked over the PADD, "We need to get these survivors up to the Mercy. Doctor Brislan sure has her work cut out for her." He then looked back at the group of Marines with him. "Sergeant Agtx and I will take a team through here, Major?"
T'Lyn nodded "I'll take a team through here," she stated as she pointed the opposite direction as to what Lennox was taking. "Lets get these areas secure and wounded beamed up to the Mercy immediately." T'Lyn stated as they all set off in the different directions with there teams.
Lennox looked over at Ermey and Vaal. “Corporal, go with the Major. Sergeant, hold this position.”
Olga picked herself up and readied her rifle. She acknowledged Lennox then followed after T'Lyn.
Gunny Monaj hopped back onto the argo, and sped back to Giaus' position, and advised him as to the QRF's activities. With Aquila's nod, Monaj walked to the rest of the team, having them prep the survivors for transport.
Giaus then peered through his binoculars, and watched the QRF teams move towards the unsecured parts of the ruins. Then he tapped his combadge, "Aquila to T'Lyn, the survivors at our position are ready for transport. We are covering your approach. Awaiting orders."
"Transport immediately," T'Lyn stated over the comm channel.
"Yes Sir." Giaus then tapped his commbadge twice. "MARSOC 1 to USS Mercy. We have 60 casualties ready for transport at my location."
USS Saratoga
"Pirate activity?" barked Jackson. "Because a simple search and rescue is too much to ask for?" He looked at the Ops Officer, "I need a sensor sweep for any traces of pirate vessels in the area. Flight Control, I need you to put us into a geosync orbit over the second settlement."
Both Ops and Flight Control nodded at the order. The Akira Class vessel broke standard orbit, and positioned itself in low orbit over the settlement. The Ops Officer turned to look at the Colonel, and spoke, "Sir, the only thing I can detect are older warp transients that appear to leave this area out of the system. They are at least a day and a half old. No other vessels besides Star Fleet in the area."
"Thank you", Jackson replied. "Saratoga to Major T'Lyn, there are no current signs of pirates in the area. Please advise if you are in need of further assistance."
"Understood Colonel," T'Lyn stated to Colonel Jackson.
"Ops, send a message to Commander Coleman. Advise him as to what happened to the second settlement, and add that there is no current threat at this time. We are continuing this as a rescue mission."
"Sending now Sir."
USS Ark Royal
Commander Coleman was working in his Ready Room and looking over several reports when his combadge beeped twice. His operations officer that had taken over after the USS Venator had taken his Chief of Operations to help hollow out the asteroid out, as a Plan B, had come over his combadge and said, "We've got an incoming message from the Saratoga, sir."
Coleman looked up from his numerous PADDs and computer terminal and asked, "What did the message say and who was it from?"
The operations officer said, "Apparently, sir, there was a raid on one of the various settlements on the planet. Several of the villagers were injured, as well as items stolen. The marines are handling the situation and are currently setting up the parameter."
Coleman sighed. He said, "Thank you. Send a response to Colonel Jackson that I would like a full report within the hour about what happened down there and tell him that I would like teams on both the Ark Royal and the Saratoga to work together on finding out who raided the planet."
The Ops officer said, "Aye, sir. Sending the message now."
Down in engineering Zhao Quan was monitoring the ships vital systems. Fortunately the modified transporters had not been called on for mass evacuation and he began to relax a little. Around him the engineering staff were going about their duties keeping the ship operating at full potential. Taking one last look around, he then turned and headed for his office.
USS Saratoga
"Colonel, receiving a message from the Ark Royal. Commander Coleman wants a full report on that incident within an hour. They also want to coordinate an investigation as to who raided that settlement."
Jackson raised an eyebrow, "Acknowledge the message. Ops, send Ark Royal our sensor data on the day old warp trails. Their systems are better equipped to analyze them to determine the type of vessels."
"Sending now Sir. "
"In the mean time, inform Chief Aquila that we need his report to send ASAP. It will give him some practice time with his tricorder"
Second Settlement
"Roger that Saratoga. Aquila out." He looked at Monaj, "Gunny, could you run the store? I need to send a report right after I greet the Major."
USS Ark Royal
Commander Coleman sat down in the Commanding Officer's chair on the main bridge of the Ark Royal. He was looking over several things for the mission before the operations officer on the bridge said, "Sir, Colonel Jackson is sending confirmation of receiving your message. He is also sending all information that they have currently of the attacks on the settlements, so that our teams can look over them."
Coleman looked over at the operations officer and nodded. "Send the information to Science Lab One and have the science and engineering teams start working on it. When we get more information, send it directly to them as well. Send word to the entire fleet to keep an eye out for anything unusual on sensors."
The Ops officers nodded and sent the word to the entire fleet.
