En-route to Earth

Location: USS Sutherland
Timeline: MD1-Current Mission, En-route to Earth

Jewel sat in her office going over reports and other things that kept her busy enough to not think about things. But, in the end she stopped what she was doing walked over to the window and looked out. She started to think about her children....about what had happened. Tears ran down her face, "Bridge to General Hurd." came the voice of her helmsman to cause distraction.

"Go ahead Lieutenant," Jewel replied. "We are about one and a half hours from Earth," came the reply. "Thank you," Jewel replied then ended the call. She stood there for a moment lost in thought.

After a few moments went by she decided that she would head to her quarters to get ready. The Funeral wasn't scheduled until tomorrow morning but she felt that she needed to get changed. She had a received a message from Admiral Janeway to meet her in her office once she arrived to discuss some matters about what had happened.

She exited her ready room and walked to the turbo lift and entered. "Deck two," she ordered as the doors closed behind her and the lift began to move. A few moments later the lift stopped and the doors opened. Exiting she walked down the corridor until she arrived at her quarters. Taking a deep breath she entered and found her bag.

She unzipped it and found her Marine Dress Uniform, she grabbed it and started to get changed. When she finished she looked in the mirror and straightened it out. Sighing she decided to enjoy a little time in her quarters thinking. She sat at the window looking out at the ship in slipstream and it was an amazing site as before the Sutherland she had never experienced slipstream before. She sat there lost in thought for what seemed like eternity.
