Mission:
Mission 86 - Discovery
Location: Promenade
Timeline: MD1 1130 hrs - Following 'New Mission'
The shuttle had docked and after a quick shuffle through security the two men walked out to the Promenade and headed for the nearest place to grab a bite to eat and a warm drink.
Marcus was stood on the upper balcony talking to his new friend Kate, they had started to become quite close since the Q nakedness incident in Ops. For some unknown reason to himself he looked down at where the two newcomers had just sat. He couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right about these two. He was about to alert security when one of the men looked up at him then leaned closer to the other and said something. The two men stood and, exchanged a few quite words then walked off in opposite directions.
Marcus motioned to a near by Marine who started to follow one of the men and Marcus kissed kate on the cheek and ran off after the other.
"I'll call you later" he said as he vanished into the distance.
He followed the figure towards the lower decks but lost him in the maze of corridors leading to section D. His combat ear-piece beeped gently in his ear to say he had an incoming message.
"Pepper here" he said opening the channel.
"I lost him sergeant major, he's somewhere in the lower decks" came the nervous marines reply.
Marcus stood still listening to the sounds of the station, he walked a few more paces to a security locker and entered his access code. The computer seemed to take a while before it came back with a denied message. Seems like Commander Lokran didn't like anyone except his staff using his weapons.
He slowly crept forward until he found an open access panel, very carefully he moved towards it and as he peeked inside he drew his combat blade from the back of his belt and silently climbed into the open area. Creeping along using his special forces sniper training he made slow progress to the other end of the jefferies tube.
As he closed in on the end of the tube he stopped to listen, then after he sent a quick message to the marine he edged forward closer to the end of the tunnel.
Marcus reached the end of the tunnel and climbed out as silently as he could. As he exited the tunnel he enter a crouched position and listened.... The Room he was in was in darkness, it had been set aside for something and was tagged as a secure area.
He could hear the rhythmic tone of the reactors and people above vibrating through the deck, he could hear his own breath and his own heart beat. He could hear the very quite voices in his ear-piece whispering to him in the darkness. He could sense the slight change in temperature in the room and he could smell a very slight scent behind him, something that didnt belong, something that was out of place.
Marcus turned just in time to see a shadow move towards him, he raised his knife but the person grabbed his wrist and then his face come into the light.
"Is that anyway to treat me" he said with a smile
"I could of killed you" replied Marcus
"With this thing" he said motioning towards the knife
"No, with this one" Marcus replied as he flicked the wrist on his other hand to dig the blade in slightly
"But then my man would have had to kill you" he replied motioning to the man stood behind Marcus with a weapon in his hand.
Marcus looked at the man and smiled, then he simply said "Hold your fire"
The man laughed "What makes you think he takes orders from you"
Marcus looked the man in the eyes "What makes you think I'm talking to him"
As Marcus said the words the piercing red dots of half a dozen sniper rifles appeared, some of them on the man behind Marcus and some on the man holding Marcus's wrist.
For a few tense moments nobody said anything then the man holding Marcus's wrist let go and started to laugh.
"Stand down Marines" said Marcus as the red dots went off one by one.
The two men hugged
"It's been a long time Marcus, how have you been my brother" Jason finally said with a smile.
"Better than you by the sounds of it" the group started to walk along a cat walk towards the steps that would lead them down into the main chamber.
"How come you don't just call like normal people" Asked Marcus
"What.... I wanted to see if your marines are any good and I needed to check out my new facility" he said reaching the ground floor and raising his hands to show the room.
"You're facility?" asked Marcus a little surprised
"Come brother, I'll explain it over an ale" Jason said as he put his arm around his brothers shoulders and walked towards the exit.
