As Picard looked back at Mike, the Admiral spoke up. He'd planned to tell Alexandra of the upcoming trip. He needed her...

"The Captain will be hitching a ride on the Pegasus when we go back to Earth."

Her response was slow as she tried to process what he just said. "Oh." She was sure that her expression was that of a deer lost in headlights. She looked to Picard, "Good." She started to mentally kick herself for the lame response.

Mike could see Alex wasn't in her usual mood...something looked to be weighing on her mind, he could see it in her eyes. Mike glanced at Jean-Luc...

"I'll leave you two to talk." The soon to be retired Captain said with a smile, then walked to meet Commander LaForge as he walked though the door.

"Is everything okay?" Mike quietly asked with concern.

"I received some disturbing news today." She wasn't planning to go into details but the words just seemed to flow out of her mouth, "My in-laws informed me that my ex was killed. I should be sad but I'm not. All I can think about is that I will finally have my son with me. And I feel guilty for feeling this way."

Mike nodded and placed his hand on her shoulder, "Is your son coming here, or do you need to go get him?"

"Well, that's the thing. Vice Admiral T'Lar offered to swing by Earth before coming here as a favor to me. I guess I can let him continue staying at his grandparent's house and get him myself." She thought for a moment, "Why are we going to Earth anyways?"

Mike took a deep breath, then turned to the side as more Enterprise crewmembers entered the room, "Yes. I planned to brief you soon. StarFleet HAG is still grilling and `debriefing` Janice. Starfleet Medical is even involved, and they aren't letting her speak with me, so I'm going to go get her. There are also questions that still need to be answered by Starfleet Command related to the Romulan Spy/Admiral Jellico incident, and other changes happening. Once the Endeavor is safe, and with the Vanguard heading out to assist the Saratoga, the Pegasus, Yorktown, Avenger, and Venator will be heading to Earth."

Mike paused so Alex could take it all in.

She thought to herself, ~Well, it's about time.~ Alex nodded, "I don't blame you. I would do the same thing if I was in your shoes. They've had Janice there way too long and her kids need her their mom."

Mike nodded. "I'm going to give a brief to Captains Andrews and Greenwood when they arrive. If you still want T`Lar to pick up your son, I understand, but if you want to you can get him in person when we get to Earth."

"Okay. I'll give it some thought and let you know. I guess I'd better go mingle and let you do the same." She gave him a half smile and walked away.
