After getting the bad news about her ex-husband, she wasn't sure how she was feeling. She never stopped loving him and yet, could never understand why she did. He put her through hell but he was the father of her child and there was that bond which would always be there. She didn't know whether to cry or celebrate. She wanted her son to live with her but as long as he was alive, that wasn't going to happen. That was no longer an issue.

Realizing that she was going to get her wish, it made her a little nervous. She didn't raise him nor was she there for all of the milestones her son had. She missed a lot of things as her job kept her from visiting as much as she would have wanted.

Her thoughts were so focused on her son and her ex that she didn't realize the time. She was supposed to be on the Enterprise. She scurried around, took a quick shower and then pulled out her uncomfortable dress whites and put it on. She walked out of her quarters and made her way onto the Enterprise-E.

Once there, she assessed the room and it's guests. She first noticed that Picard and Bremer were talking to each other. Then she saw K'Temoc and Worf looking at some pictures. She was hoping that the place was a little more crowded but it wasn't. She could see that the two most important people were looking at her. She wasn't feeling quite sociable but she was used to pretending that everything was hunky-dory when it wasn't.

Alex took a deep breath and let it out before approaching the two. She put on a smile as she walked over to them. She acknowledged Bremer with a nod, then to the other officer standing there, "Captain Picard, it's so good to see you again and a honor to be here on this historic day."

Picard smiled back at her as he shook her hand, "Same here Captain Harrison and thank you. Would you like a glass of wine?"

"Yes please, that would be great." The wine couldn't have come at a better time, especially after the day she had. When the wine was handed to her, she enjoyed the bouquet of the wine before taking a sip. It was a long time since she had tasted a good wine.

She continued to converse with the two, "So Captain Picard. Now that you are retiring, will you be staying on SB400 for a while or taking the next ship out of here?"

There was a slight pause as Picard looked to Bremer for a moment.

OOC: I'll leave it there for now.
