Mission: Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: USS Lexington
Timeline: Few hours after 'Crossing the Border'

ON:

K’Temoc had gone to his Quarters after the Lexington departed the Station, then was on the Bridge while the ship crossed into Romulan space.
Now, he was back in the Observation Lounge looking over a PADD. There was very little data on the new ship the Romulans were building. They would have to wait until they arrived to passively scan it to get any real info on the vessel. Still, the Special Operations Team had some planning to do.

“K’Temoc to Pike, Harrison, Coleman, and Matthews please report to the Observation Lounge.”

Slade stood from the desk in his quarters and deactivated the terminal. He was perusing some of the files Admiral Sevlek gave him access to prior to leaving Starbase 400. He knew Commander Hormas fairly well, they'd spent some time together on an assignment a couple of years ago and had kept in touch since then. A message every few months asking how everything was, but those messages stopped when Hormas was given his current assignment and then promoted to an inner circle of sorts. He tapped his combadge and replied, "Matthews here, on my way."

Lee was in his and Alex's quarters going over reports of the mission when he got the call:"Pike here, on my way Captain."

Slade took the walk to the nearest turbolift and ordered it to the bridge. After it arrived, he stepped off and crossed the aft of deck 1 and entered the Observation Lounge. He spoke after he was in and saw K'Temoc standing near the windows reading a PADD, "Captain."

K'Temoc didn't look back, something in the data on the PADD caught his attention a moment before Matthews walked in... "Commander, please, have a seat."

He continued to look over the same few lines again and again, but he could come to only one conclusion, however he wanted the rest of the Away Team's opinion too. He read over the section again as he waited for Pike, Harrison, and Coleman to arrive...

Lee stepped through the doors to the Observation Lounge and nodded as he took a seat:"Captain, Commander."

Coleman was in Main Engineering when he heard the call from K’Temoc on his combadge. He pressed his combadge and said, "On my way, Captain." Then, he handed a PADD he had been working with to one of the Ensigns and said to continue making sure the cloak was working properly and make sure the engines were up to par. Then, he headed out to the nearest turbolift and headed up to the main bridge.

When the turbolift finally reached deck one, it came to a halt and opened up for him. He took a quick stroll to the observation lounge and saw Captain Smith and Commander Slade already there. He gave a curt nod and said, "Captains, Commander."

Alex walked in shortly after Coleman. She immediately sat down next to Pike. She looked around the room and smiled, "Did I miss anything?"

Once everyone arrived, K'Temoc turned around, his expression showed his concern.

"I've been looking over the limited data we have on the new Romulan ship. It's not much, no tactical data, no interior map, however they did include a brief time table." He laid the PADD on the conference table and took a breath. "The Romulans intend to launch the ship in the next thirty-six hours...and we're still thirty-three hours out."

He looked around the room before adding, "They also included flight paths and times for the ship to go from Gamma Crateris to Earth in just over five hours and from Gamma Crateris to Qo'noS in just over five and a half hours...there's only one type of engine that can allow a ship to make that trip THAT fast..."

K'Temoc looked at Matthews, expecting him to already know the answer.

Slade nodded, "They have acquired a working prototype of the Quantum Slipstream Drive. It is a Federation design, and it is believed that Commander Hormas provided them with the schematics, though I doubt he realizes that information is known to the upper echelons of Starfleet Intelligence." He paused, "I can fill in some of the details that are missing from that report based on information I acquired when I filed a report when I was in Romulan space a few years ago if you'd like."

K’Temoc raised his voice slightly, “When were you planning to share that intel with us?” K’Temoc was clearly annoyed as he slid the PADD over to Matthews.

Slade raised his eyebrow, "I wasn't planning on sharing it with you, since access to that data is restricted. As can be evidenced by the fact it isn't included with your data packet." He paused as he picked the PADD up, "Regardless though, the ship doesn't operate off of a singularity core, which is the biggest part of its design that works in our favor. It operates using a M/ARA core system using benamite as the medium. Shields are the equivalent of second generation MLSS, easily bypassed by specific transporter frequencies. I only saw plans for 12 of its 22 decks. Deck 1 and 15, the bridge and main engineering decks respectively, are the most vivid. The ship's weapon systems are a new iteration of the Romulan disruptor that also uses a rotating plasma harmonic in the beams. The data on this PADD isn't completely accurate though. At maximum slipstream velocity it would take that ship about 8 hours to get to Earth from Gamma Crateris based on the core design they are using."

K'Temoc took the PADD back and looked at the information Matthews had added. He then uploaded the info to rest of the team's PADDs. He then looked back at Matthews.

"We're not interested in classified data, but if it's something that pertains to this mission, especially something that could cost lives, I suggest you speak up, because if we loose someone because you didn't provide us with necessary intel...then President's son or not, I'll personally throw you in the brig."

He looked around, then added, "I've set up a training program in Holodeck Two. I'll update it with this new information. I want you all there, in Romulan gear, in an hour. We'll run through it a few times, then get some sleep. We're all due in Sick-Bay tomorrow morning at Zero-Nine-Hundred for surgery to get our temporary Romulan faces. Any questions?"

Coleman nodded, but he did say to Captain K'Temoc, "I do wish to speak with you before the simulation to discuss some ideas that I have about some backup plans I have and to see how it can be put into our overall plans."

K'Temoc nodded, "Stay after the meeting and we'll talk about them now."

Alex looked at Pike with wide eyes. This was one mission that she was not comfortable with. It was bad enough that they were dealing with Romulans but trying to look and act like them, this was more than she was prepared for.

Lee glanced at Alex before looking towards K'Temoc:"So what does our mission fully entail? And where at? Also what will our ranks entail while we pose as Romulans?"

"Our primary task is to sabotage whatever vessel the Romulans are building, and to make it look like an accident. We're using all Romulan equipment, weapons, plasma charges, and so forth. It's totally covert. I will be a Sub-Commander the rest of you will be Centurions, that should allow us access to the Bridge, Engineering, and any other area of the vessel we need to be. Our secondary task is to gather any intel possible." K'Temoc explained.

He sighed:"Good thing I know how to speak Romualn"
