Mission:
Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Cestus III
Timeline: mission plus 40 hours
Shaking his head Andrew walked back to his seat, "Sorry Lt Commander, we are already spread too thinly. We will have to leave the away team on the Buraq for a few minutes and take a look ourselves. Helm engage. Full sensor sweep as we pass, we won't be stopping".
The Kearsarge quickly started to pull away from the Buraq. As he watched the main screen, he could see the away teams shuttle docked with the Buraq.
Torilla had been expecting the refusal as she nodded. "Yessir." she then turned and returned to her post at the tactical station but in truth she was more frustrated then ever before as they were leaving the away team vulnerable.
The Ops officer announced they were coming up on the first area as Torilla scanned the debris. "Sir... this is the wreckage from Delta One Five.... A type eight shuttlecraft..." she explained as she looked over at the Operations Officer. "Lieutenant transport this wreckage aboard after you sweep it for unexploded ordinance."
"Aye sir... running scans now.."
Torilla meanwhile turned her attention back to her console as she coaxed the next location gently. "Reading two bodies in the debris sir." she sighed softly as she tapped her combadge. "Bridge to sickbay. we have two incoming bodies... Buraq's personnel.. killed in action... "
USS Buraq
"Doctor Bailey, standby," Tressa said; seconds later they dematerialized. She left the Buraq's Medical Lab and moved into the hallway. "Commander Lokran, I'm approaching the last lab in Sciences. Shall I meet you in the Habitat?"
"I'll be rright there." said R'nard.
Lt Quan was already heading for the engine room to see what had been done to the ship. Behind him a single marine was keeping pace. They both came to the door to engineering and stopped; Quan staring at the door.
The marine looked side long at Quan, "Be careful when opening it, there may be sabotage."
Quan nodded and swallowed at the same time, "Understood... Thanks". He took out his tricorder and started scanning, then looked up at the marine. "Nothing showing here, nothing has been tampered with".
Quan stood to one side of the door and opened the door remote panel, "Best stand to one side, I'm now going to trigger the door activator". The marine moved to the side, his rifle pointing at the door.
The door opened without incident and Quan locked the door open, then stepped over to look through the doorway. He then moved forward tricorder scanning as he went. The marine moved into line with the door and followed Quan in to engineering.
Inside the place was a mess, but only through damage from overloaded systems and panels. Quan quickly found a working panel and ran a diagnostic on the systems. Tapping his comm badge, "Quan to Commander Lokran, I'm in engineering. Warp engines destroyed, Weapon systems heavily damaged but I may be able to get phasers on line if you need them. Shields completely exhausted, but operational. Main power off line and nothing short of a refit will get it back, impulse power is available but only at 25%, as are the impulse engines. Navigation system damaged, and life support is operational, but it has been damaged. All in all it's a mess, Sir"
"That sounds bleak," Tressa said to the Commander.

"Understood." Yamaguchi replied softly as she sighed. "Captain.... we should scout out the locations of the other planets and moons that can support life... one of those might hold the Buraq's survivors who escaped."
"Tactical on screen", Andrew spoke quietly but clearly. The main viewer changed to the tactical view, so that Andrew could see where everything was. "Good idea, Lt Commander, but we'll get the away team back before we do. If they are hiding on one of the moons, they will ok for a little while longer, but I don't like having the away team out there on their own."
Turning to look at the Captain, with a rather serious look in his eyes, he said, in a steely voice, ''Sir, I hereby request that the Saratoga be brought into this area at red alert, and furthermore, I request that I transfer there to take command immediately.'' After he finished speaking, he stood back at attention, awaiting the captain's order's,
Andrew looked at him standing there, "Very well. you may join the Saratoga, but remain on station until called. There are people missing and coming in at Red Alert is not going to get them back. We will continue to search the area and try to locate the other shuttles."
Looking at the Captain, and saluting he said, ''Aye Aye Sir.'' Pausing for a moment, he continued, ''Sir, i understand my orders are to remain on station untill called, but besides that, what else can i do to while on station to aid in the current situation?'' ''And also sir, i will require an Executive Officer, and if permissable, i would like that person to be Lt Commander Yamaguchi, because i belive that she would be, and is, a very capable officer to serve in that capacity.''
Torilla Yamaguchi meanwhile was gently coaxing more tactical data from the badly dammaged computer core of the USS Buraq, it reminded her of a badly dammaged Frigate that had been towed into Starbase 45's main docking area about two and a half years ago, except USS Stalwart Dawn had her crew alive and well.
He had only a few moments before denied Lt Commander Yamaguchi permission to join the Saratoga, but with the Colonels request as well, he began to feel that it would be a good idea. The Lt Commander would gain valuable experience and he could give Lt Maxwell a chance to run the tactical station, "Very well, Colonel. Consider it done. The pair of you off to the Saratoga and await further instruction. i don't think you will have to wait long though. The Gorn are not known for being suptle and this is far too long for them to be sitting waiting". He tapped his comm badge, "Lt Maxwell to the bridge"
Maxwell responded almost instantly, "On my way, Captain".
Andrew smiled at the rapid reply, "Keen", was all he said.
Lt Maxwell soon arrived on the bridge. Andrew pointed to Lt Commander Yamaguchis place, "Take over tactical, please".
Just as he moved towards the console Yamaguchi called out, "Just picked up the Avenger, Captain.. They are drifting..."
Andrew stood up and Maxwell took over the station, "Full sensor scan of the Avenger. Colonel! to the Saratoga. You can finish the search for survivors, we will go and check out the Avenger. Be carefull we are getting closer to Cestus III and if the Gorn are hiding, the gravity well of the planet will help them. Helm reverse course and get back to the Buraq." He tapped his comm badge, "Kearsarge to Away Team. Secure the Buraq and if you can put it on autopilot back to the nearest starbase, best speed available. We are coming back to pick you up."
The helm officer called out, "ETA to the Buraq at warp is four minutes, Captain"
Andrew pointed at the helm officer, "Engage". He tapped his comm badge again, "Major Crespin, Leave the away team we will be back with them in four minutes, load the coordinates of the Avenger from our console and head over there, best speed. We will join you shortly."
Yamaguchi felt conflicted, on one side she wished to see the mission through untill the end and leaving her post in what could easily turn into a combat scenario which bothered her, whe was also requested and required to join the crew of the USS Saratoga, which she knew had a lot meaner weapons on that Cruiser then this frigate did.
Yamaguchi removed the compiece from her left ear as she sighed softly, clearly her work here was finished. "Sir, we may not be able to get close enough to the Saratoga to beam over... I'd like to use a shuttle instead..."
