Mission: Mission 82 - The Aggressor
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: Launch plus two hours

After Colonel Hurd and Lt Commander Yamaguchi had left his ready room, Andrew went on to the bridge to summon the rest of his senior crew to a briefing. He decided that despite Yamaguchis wish to get on he was going to have to have her there as well. He would tell the assembled that Colonel Hurd was busy, so he did not invite him again.

After sending out the request, he sat down and looked again at the mission briefing.

Tressa was first to arrive. "Captain Clifford," she said, smiling warmly, "I am pleased to be working with you again."

"Hello Tressa, good to see you again. Get yourself a drink, if you wish, and have a seat. How's the sickbay shaping up?"

"The sickbay is small but well-equipped, and we are adequately supplied for our crew," she said, watching a tall glass of iced tea appear in the replicator. "Doctor Nelson is onboard, and we have three nurses and two medics as well."

Commander Lokran was the next to arrive. "I am here, how may I help you?" he said.

The door had hardly closed behind the commander when Maxwell and Quan also arrived.

Andrew smiled, "Excellent. Help yourselves to a drink and have a seat. The others shouldn't be long."

R'nard got himself a cup of tea and sat down.

The door opened a moment later as Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi walked through the door, PADD in hand, she raised an eyebrow as she looked around at the small crowd presently gathered as she made a move for the replicator.
"One large Coke cola." and with her drink in hand she went to sit down at the table. "Hey folks..." she then greeted everyone.

Col. Hurd looked up from the padd he was reading, smiled, and said, "Hello Commander"

Andrew looked around the room at the people sitting here. They were all attentive, so he had better get on with the briefing.
"I've just called you all in here to let you know what the mission is. Some of you will already be aware that we are heading to Cestus III, which if you recall your history was where Captain Kirk and the Enterprise met, for the first time, the Gorn."

He paused for a second, "We have been ordered to the system to protect our border. It seems the Gorn has started raiding across the border, and one Starship, The USS Buraq, has already been badly damaged with loss of life. I'm not sure why they attacked the Buraq, because she is a Nova Class science ship and not able to put up much of a fight. We do not know what type of ship attacked the Buraq, only that it was Gorn and that it attacked without warning."

"Will be be able to withstand an attack from a ship or multiple ships?" Tressa asked.

"The Intrepids are not warships as such, but they can fight. However, I have no idea of the capability of the Gorn, so I have given Lt Colonel Hurd free reign to organise ship defense in the event we are boarded. Lt Commander Yamaguchi will assist him, but will remain the second officer. That will mean Commander Lokran is first officer and my XO for this mission. We arrive in 24 hours or thereabouts, and I expect it to get interesting any time after that. Any Questions?"

Torilla raised an eyebrow and she nodded her head. "Yessir. What reinforcements can be called upon in that area should we need them sir?"

"Right now, it's just us and the Avenger. I will inquire though and make sure."
