Mission: Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Holodeck 1
Timeline: Following 'New Chief Strat...'

ON:

Deela composed an invite to the former Essex crew plus her friend and former crew member, Alexandra and her fiance, Pike. She wanted to get to know Pike as well.

R'nard, Hurd and Clifford were all promoted so she wanted to give them some recognition for a job well done.

The open invite was to be simple and to the point, "You are invited to a celebration tomorrow at 0700 hours. There will be a theme which will be announced later tonight. See you there." Others were invited as well.

After the last mission, she thought that it would be nice to relax and have some fun. After sending it out, she got herself a glass of Chardonnay. Vincent had taken the kids out to give her a much needed break. She decided to use this time to make plans for the event tomorrow.

Lee was sitting in his office going over some paperwork when he got the message from Admiral T'Lar. He sent a message back to her saying that he would be there. He also sent Alex a message to her asking when she wanted him to come escort her to the party.

Alex was sitting at home when she heard the computer console beep. She was surprised to see two messages awaiting her. She first replied to T'Lar, then Pike, "0650 would be fine. I look forward to seeing you." Once sent, she sat back down with a smile. He'd finally get to actually talk to Vice Admiral T'Lar, her former CO. She knew that they'd get along with each other and that he might find her interesting as well. It wasn't very common to see a Vulcan/Betazoid/Human hybrid.

Andy got the invitation and was very happy about it because he felt a little isolated and to be honest missed the Essex's Crew...

He touched his datapad and confirmed to T'Lar that he was coming...

Tressa sent her RSVP as well.

R'nard also was in his quarters meditating when he got the message. "Acknowledged. I will be there at that time. I look forrward to it."

Major Hurd had been released from sickbay, and had returned to his quarters. He was in the process of changing his uniform when his combadge beeped. Walking over to his dresser, he taped it, and the message from the Admiral played. At the end of his, he replied, ''Major Hurd here, i shall be there as well''.

Andrew saw the screen flashing as he entered his quarters. He quickly read the message, then hit reply.

'I shall look forward to it, Admiral.'

He hit the send button and then went to show and clean up.

Deela was ecstatic that almost everyone had replied and were coming. She decided to make it a Christmas theme. She had the perfect program.

Deela sent another message, saying that it would be a Terran Christmas theme and no uniforms allowed since it was so close to the holidays. Even though her dad didn't see the logic in celebrating it, her mom always made sure that she had a Christmas. She wanted the party to be relaxed.

Lee had showered and dressed in a dress shirt and dress pants from Betazed, he also wore a pair of black snake skin cowboy boots. He then left his quarters and headed off towards Alex's quarters to pick her up.

Alex got the message and dressed accordingly. Paul had heard about it and asked if he was invited. She didn't see why not, "Sure. go put something nice on." Alex wasn't much for wearing dresses but this was a special occasion. She pulled out of her closet a garment bag and opened it. She had never worn it so she thought this would be perfect.

It was a short black sleeveless dress which hugged every curve. She and Paul came out a the same time. Paul's jaw dropped. He had never seen his mom in a dress so it was quite a shocker. "Va-va-voom!" Alex shook her finger at him, "Don't get too use to it." Paul chuckled.

David finished putting his entire Marine dress uniform on, stopping to check that it was clean, and that everything was where it was supposed to be. He stood, walked over to his closet, and pulled his officers sword for it. He took the sword and snapped it into place around his waist. Stepping back to his mirror to check himself over one more time, he left his quarters and proceeded to Holodeck 1.

Deela walked out of her quarters in a long red strapless dress and made her way to Holodeck 1. Her husband Vincent had made a program for her from a setting in one of his books. It was quite spectacular. He knew of her love of castles, like those seen in England.

It was an old castle which was built maybe between the late 1700s to the early 1800s. Between its grand halls, libraries, courtyards and large gardens, she couldn't wait to use it. Giving her authorization code, the door to the holodeck opened up to a bright, large room with a giant chandelier and music playing. Vincent thought of everything. Vincent showed up minutes after her, "Does me lady approve?" Deela hugged and kissed him, "It's perfect. Now for the guests to arrive."

Andrew arrived at precisely 0700. He was dressed in a simple jacket and trousers, casual but smart. He looked around at the scenery, it was excellent and perfectly suited to the occasion. A castle, but not one of the early drafty ones built hundreds of years earlier. This one was from the time when comfort was the order of the day, not defense.

He spotted the Admiral and her husband and walked over to them, "This is amazing, I'll bet it took a lot of research to get all the details right."

"I guess you can say that I've done my homework. My wife here has a fondness for them."

Deela nodded in agreement, "I do. Not many people know this either. Something about castles and dragons, I love them." She looked at Andrew, "Don't worry. There aren't any dragons in this program, right Vincent?" Vincent grinned, "No, no dragons but I do have a surprise at the close of the party. I think that everyone will love it."

Deela didn't even know what the surprise was but she wasn't worried. "Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be fantastic. "

Andrew smiled, "There is something about dragons and castles that inspire the imagination. I look forward to the surprise."
As they chatted a waitress came past and Andrew took a drink.

Mike, Janice, K'Wor, and Becca arrived at the party. Becca and Janice were dressed in similar, yet slightly different black dresses. Janice's was long, Becca's shorter. K'Wor and Mike remained in uniform. K'Wor had to be on duty at 0800 and Mike simply wasn't found of 'dressing up'.

Mike however did have something with him, a box he was carrying. Inside were gifts for the entire Senior Staff, and a few select others.

Mike had grown up in a mixed house-hold. His father was full Klingon and Mike had immersed himself in Klingon 'religious' traditions from an early age. However his mother was half Human/half Vulcan. She had all but ignored her Vulcan side by the time Mike was born, and had taught him and later K'Temoc all about Earth's Christianity. Christmas, Easter, they were all quite familiar to Mike. He knew part of the Christmas tradition was to give gifts, and to help show his deep appreciation to his crew, he'd brought something for them to the party.
