Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Timeline: This is before the post A meeting
Lee had just sent a message to General Torg informing him of the destruction of the Koraga and also the death of his nephew Commander Koth. He sat there for a bit thinking things over, he knew Torg would not be happy and that he would probably want the head of the pilot who had managed to get a lucky shot off on the Korga. Lee gave Maal a few days off to mourn for the death of his cousin, he also banned Maal from going to the brig. Lee shook his head and stood up.
"Computer locate Captain Harrison."
Computer:"Captain Harrison is currently over at the brig."
Lee just shook his head and then headed out of his quarters towards the brig. After a bit he finally arrived and walked in.
Alex was surprised to see him. She thought that he would've avoided this place as much as he could. Clark was over in his cell smirking which was quite weird for the fact, he was sitting in cell. He was probably playing mind games. "Captain Pike, did you need something?"
Lee nodded:"Captain, how are things going?"
"Fine. In fact, I've just finished. Let's talk somewhere else." She walked out of the place. "How did things go with General Torg?"
Lee chuckled:"It was quite interesting. He called Clark and his men, QaQ vaD pagh (Scum sucking good for nothing Fergeni cowards.)"
Alex smiled, "Do you blame him? Well, at least they died with honor. Something Clark will never have."
He reached over and took her hand and held it:"How are you holding up?"
Her smile faded, "I'm doing okay. I was a little worried about my first mission as Commanding Officer. I worried that Clark was once again going to win and we'd pay the price. I guess in a way, we did. We lost too many people on this one." She sighed, then shook her head, "It took all my strength not to go into that brig cell and beat the living daylight out of him. You should have seen him sitting in that cell. He looked so smug. I don't trust him one bit. As long as they are on this base, I'm going to be keeping an eye on them, especially Clark."
Lee nodded:"You did pretty good on your first mission as a Commanding Officer. I think most of the crew will be keeping an eye on Clark and his men."
"Thank you. That means a lot coming from you."
"I also will be keeping an eye on Ensign Baratan, something is going on with her and right now am not sure."
She agreed, "I've noticed that as well. She seems to have quite a temper. She makes me look like an angel."
Lee sighed:"Just to let you know, many years ago my uncle Charles Pike had saved the life of General Torg and with that the House of Torg swore a life debt for the entire Pike family. We all pretty much grew up in a way together. The reason I am telling you this is in case there may be a time or two when I won't be in a good mood with the death of Commander Koth."
"Who wouldn't be? Clark killed people who meant a great deal to you and your family. No one is expecting you to come out of this without feeling something." She moved closer to him, "No matter what, I'll always be here for you, bad mood or not."
Lee smiled a little bit:"Thank you very much my dear. That means a lot from you and you know I will always be there for you and Paul no matter what."
Alex nodded, "I know."
Lee then put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer and gave her a long deep kiss.
It had been a long time coming. It seemed like ages ago.
He still had his arms around her waist:"Oh just thought would let you know while I think about it, General Torg knows about us and wants to meet you very soon."
Her eyes widened, "Really? What did you tell him about us?"
Lee let out a short laugh:"The look on your face now is priceless."
Alex sighed, "Stop. I really want to know."
He smiled at her:"Well I told him that we where dating and I finally was very happy. So he said he wants to meet 'IH 'Iv Daj tIq (The beautiful princess who stole his adopted son's heart.)"
"Aww. That's so sweet. Well then, I'm looking forward to meeting him." It made her a little nervous but she wasn't going to let it get to her, not yet.
He kissed her on the lips again and smiled:"Why are you nervous about meeting the Torg family?:
"Who said that I'm nervous?" She looked at him for a moment, "Okay, you caught me. It's like meeting your parents. It's a big deal. It brings the relationship to a whole new level." She added, "What if he doesn't like me?"
Lee winked at her:"It will be fine."
"I hope so." She tried not to let the fact that her ex's parents never really liked her affect her.
"I have an idea, why don't you go get Paul and meet me in holo deck 1. We can have a picnic dinner there if you like."
"Oh no. Paul. I haven't even told him that I'm back yet. Between the meeting and me checking out the brig right afterwards, I haven't been to my quarters."
He shook his head:"You so need to slow down hun. And don't worry General Torg will like you. And before you know it we can meet each other's parents."
"That would be great." She smiled, "Anyways, the picnic sounds good. I think Paul would love to see you as well."
Lee let her go and smiled:"Ok you go get Paul and I will go get the food and set up holo deck 1."
Alex went to her quarters to be greeted by Paul who was very happy to see his mom was okay, "You're back! I was worried. So, did you get the bad guys?"
"Yes we did, well, most of them. One got away though." Alex frowned for a moment.
Paul put is hand on his mom's shoulder, "It's okay mom you did your best. So when do I get to see your ship?"
"In due time, in due time." Alex walked towards her dressing area, "Lee has invited us to a picnic. I told him I'd ask you and meet him in a few."
Paul shrugged, "I guess. But wouldn't you rather be alone?"
Alex stuck her head out, "Not necessary. He wants to get to know you."
"It's that serious? Are you going to marry him?"
Alex was silent for a moment, "Well, if he asked me, sure but we are still in the dating stage. Let's get to know each other before we go down that road, okay?"
"Okay but if you wanted to say yes, it would be okay with me."
Alex chuckled, "Well, thank you for that. I'm glad you approve of him." She walked out in her normal clothes, "Are you ready to go?"
Paul nodded, "Yeah." They both left, making their way to holodeck 1.
Lee turned and headed off to get the food and head for the holo deck.
Lee had managed to make it to holo deck 1 before Alex and Paul got there. Lee was wearing a causal Betazed outfit. He had a giant basket in his hand and went over to the controls and set the program for his favorite spot on Betazed. He then entered the holo deck.
"Computer run vacation Pike 1." Just then the holo deck changed into Janaran Falls, a beautiful water fall located on Betazed. Lee walked over to a spot on the ground about 75 feet from the waterfall and sat the basket down then pulled out a huge blanket. He layed the blanket on the grass then sat down himself and waited.
When Alex and Paul arrived, they saw that a program was running. They walked in and Paul couldn't help but look at his surroundings. He had never seen anything like it. His dad and him didn't travel much.
Lee stood up to greet them:"Hello Paul, hi Alex" He shook Paul's hand then gave Alex a hug.
"Not bad dear, not bad at all." Alex looked at Paul who was still taking in the view and smiled.
Lee smiled:"Please have a seat, hope you guys are hungry. I packed some Betazed and a bit of Vulcan food."
Alex sat down but noticed that Paul was still standing and looking around him. Alex wanted to get his attention, "Earth to Paul. Earth to Paul."
"Huh?" Paul looked at Alex, "Oh, yeah, okay."
Alex laughed, "You really need to get out more often." Paul rolled his eyes. He looked at the food strangely but didn't say a word.
Lee let out a bit of a chuckle:"Let me guess Paul you have never had food from another world before?"
"Can't say I have. Looks interesting though." Paul was trying to be nice.
He reached into the basket and pulled out several containers and started opening them:"First we have Plomeek soup, Gespar, Pok tar, Oskoid, Uttaberry crepe, Jestral tea."
Alex watched as he pulled out the containers, "Looks good to me. Paul's dad wasn't much for foreign foods so paul hasn't been introduced to foods like this. What a shame. He didn't know what he was missing."
As Lee reached back into the basked he chuckled:"Don't worry didn't bring any Gagh with me."
Paul knew what that was but never seen it, "Ugh, thank god."
He then pulled out a container and handed it to Paul:"Here you go Paul, I brought this for you just in case none of the other foods you didn't want to try, a couple of double cheeseburgers."
Paul was happy, "Alright, now that's what I'm talking about." Alex broke out with laughter. "But" Paul added, "I'll try the other food too. Grams always said that we should try everything once before we can't say we don't like it."
Lee smiled as he grabbed some Gespar:"Your grandma is a smart woman, my mother use to tell me then when I was growing up."
"Yeah? Your other must be a smart lady as well." Alex chuckled a little.
"Help yourself to whatever you like hun." He started eating on the Gespar.
Alex nodded and started to gather food on her plate.
Lee took a sip on some Jestral tea:"So Paul what are you into, besides on wanting to learn how to defend yourself?"
"Computers and sports mostly"
He nodded:"You mean that you're not into girls?"
Paul blushed, "Uh, well yeah I like girls. I just haven't seen any of them here that I like, that's all. Besides, I have plenty of time. I am only 15. So..." He went back to eating his food. Alex wanted to laugh but knew better. She looked over at Lee.
Lee sat there in silence for a little while looking over at the waterfall while they ate.
Alex noticed that Lee got quiet, "A penny for your thought."
Lee let out a long sigh then turned to look at Alex:"Oh I was just thinking of all the people who have been lost after they joined Star Fleet and also all the families who have suffered cause a loved one has passed away. But it's a price people pay and they know it going in when they join Star Fleet."
"I know exactly what you mean. I was just telling Paul here the same thing. I can't count on my fingers how many people we've lost just by Clark's doing."
Paul put his hand on Lee's shoulder, "You both did your best and even though you lost some, you stopped Clark, right?"
Alex looked at her son who showed his youth and innocence, "The people we lost Paul were part of Lee's friends and family."
Paul looked down, "Oh, I see. That sucks. I'm sorry."
Alex looked over at Lee with a concerned look.
He smiled at her:"I will be ok though hun. Feel free anytime after your done eating Paul to walk around the waterfall." Lee grabbed some Plomeek soup and started eating that.
"So what do you two think of the view here?"
Alex glanced around, "I love it. It's so beautiful and peaceful."
Paul agreed, "I've never seen anything like it. Then again, I've never been anywhere besides Earth, well, not until I came here."
"Yeah, your dad wasn't much for travelling. But you're here now. That's what counts." She rustled his hair.
Lee finally finished eating and started putting the empty containers into the basked:"So what would you guys like to do now?"
"I know what I'd like to do but I don't think that Starfleet would approve." She smiled, "Paul, is there anything you'd like to do. I mean, you lived such a unadventurous life."
Paul shrugged, "I don't know. There's not much to do on a Starbase."
Alex pointed out, "This is a holodeck. You can do anything you want. Amusement parks, a sail on the ocean, a hike in the Sequoias or anything else you can think of."
Paul stood up, "I'll have to think about it. I'm going to check out the waterfall."
Alex shook her head, "Okay." She looked at Lee and sighed. "He seems a little overwhelmed by all this."
Lee nodded:"It's ok hun. Maybe one day we could take him to Betazed so he can see the actually waterfall."
She smiled, "One day."
He stood up and walked over to her. He then held out his hand to help her up. "I have a suprise for you, close your eyes."
She took his hand and stood up, "A surprise? What kind of a surprise?"
Lee pulled out a box and then opened it to show a 24 karat gold ring with a diamond, He then got down on one knee:"Ok now open your eyes." He looked at her:"Alex will you marry me?"
Alex opened her eyes in time to see him on one knee. She then saw the beautiful ring glisten in the computer generated sunshine. His words were unexpected. She stood there for what seemed like a few minutes just staring at the ring then glancing at the Lee and then back at the ring. She tried to speak but the words wouldn't come out. "Oh my God" was the only thing she managed to say without a stutter.
She stuttered again, "I...I...are you sure?" She took a breath, Of course you're sure. "Yes." She took another breath and smiled brightly, "Yes, I will marry you."
Lee smiled and stood up. He then pulled the ring out of the box and slip it on her finger:"You are truely one remarkable woman."
Alex smiled, "Well thank you. And so are you." Alex chuckled, "A remarkable man that is." She chuckled, still getting over the shock.
Lee then grabbed her into a big embrace and kissed her:"Shall we tell Paul or wait till he comes back from looking around?"
Paul was already walking back, "Ugh. Get a room."
Alex laughed, "See anything different Paul?" She flashed her ringed finger.
Paul wasn't stunned at all. He smiled at Lee and then playfully hit him in the arm, "Nice move...Dad." Paul laughed, "Too soon?"
Lee smiled and ruffled Paul's hair:"No son it isn't too soon."
Alex wasn't sure what to say, "So I take it that you approve?"
Paul sighed, "I told you earlier that it was okay. I just didn't expect it so fast. You do deserve to be happy." Paul added, "Just don't send me to boarding school. that's all I ask." He was joking of course.
Alex looked a her son who seemed to have grown up within the last twenty minutes.
Lee nodded to Paul:"Don't worry we won't send you to boarding school."
