Mission:
Mission 80 - Outpost
Location: Starbase 118, Sickbay
Timeline: Before arrival to Starbase 400
Vid-Lotilija awoke from a series of nightmares. She was fine, well almost fine for at least a week now, but her life was in shambles. Even after talking to Counselor twice every day since she awoke, it was hard to accept that she doesn't remember half of her life.
She was tested, heavily tested and checked by Starfleet. It was more than obvious nobody really believe that she don’t remember her life after return to Romulan space. She was planted with several half Romulans during last few days posing as her sons, in attempt to reveal her as a cheater.
As it was not hard enough for her that she don’t remember her husband and her children. She doesn't tell that to Counselor, but hardest part for her was the fact that she didn't remember finding X'arel and living with him, happy. No matter how short that was, but she was happy and that is something she wasn't much in her life lately.
On the other hand, she was apparently wrong about that, too. From her personal logs and talking to her brother, she had somebody aboard Apollo, a ship she was serving on after the Academy. He was Bajoran and far too young for her. Or maybe not? They were around same maturity, though so far apart in age.
The best part of her current life was those few hours she spent with her Granddaughter M’Rehu, a child her youngest son Takkath has with his wife to be M’Yek Aved. Young Rihhansu obviously felt uneasy around Vid-Lotilija, but refrained from asking anything. Vid-Lotilija was actually happy with her son’s choice, young woman was not too pretty, but was obviously smart and pretty nice.
Vid-Lotilija was sitting on her bed, still waiting to be released from sickbay thinking about everything when an alarm originating from her PADD attracted her attention. Checking a message Vid-Lotilija raises her brows in surprise. Just when wanted to exit the room seeking the doctor, Human woman entered the room pointing to the PADD, obviously wanting to talk about the message.
“I see you got the message, too. They want you to go and resume your service. How do you feel, Lieutenant?” Woman sat in a chair by the bed and crossed her legs.
It was unexpected question from a doctor. In her talking to Counselor, Vid-Lotilija knew always what she was asked about. It was always how she feels about the certain something they were discussing during the session, but in this case it was very allaround question that made Vid-Lotilija chuckle shrugging.
“I’m puzzled, doc. If you’re asking me, how do I feel about transfer, the answer is nothing. I don’t remember anyone form my ship. So there is no way I’ll miss them. How do I feel about being trapped in Starfleet for 40 more years, for a crime I don’t remember, I feel nothing.” Vid-Lotilija shook her head frowning. “From what I learned of the current life in Federation, it’s where I would anyway choose to be. There is a bit of pressure in the fact that I must… but again, it doesn't matter so much.” She raises her shoulders splaying her hands.
“What about the Family?”
Vid-Lotilija dropped her hands on the bed and sighed. “Again… I miss my sister. But I can see and talk to the rest of the Family I remember. Where I’m going I can try and get the search and rescue mission on the way to seek for her. I will try and get the permission for my sons to come and visit me, when I can’t visit them. On the other hand I may just wake up one morning and remember everything, you know as good as I do that neural pathways have unique ability to reroute lost connections. It would be very strange to even believe I will never remember it.” She smiled happily.
“You’re free to go as soon as you’re ready, Lieutenant. A shuttle is waiting for you in Shuttle bay 22, all your belongings are already aboard. You’ll be there in less than 2 hours.” She rise and smiling offered her hand to Vid-Lotilija. “Good luck, Lieutenant.”
Accepting offered hand Vid-Lotilija bowed slightly. When woman left the room she took off her clothes and entered the shower. Then ordering fresh uniform, she checked her hair. It was too long, so she didn't even brush it, but leaving the sickbay first visited hairdresser to take care of it. Done with it, she went to see her granddaughter one more time. Checking Starbase 400 and reported to Shuttle bay 22 and soon found her transport.
Vid-Lotilija could sit in a cockpit with a pilot, but decided to rather stay behind and read about her new home among stars, the Starbase 400 and its crew.
