Mission: Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: USS Steadfast, Bridge
Timeline: Current

ON:

K’Temoc was watching the sensors as the ship neared the location of Clark’s transmission. Harrison had left the Bridge and was in her Ready Room, so K’Temoc looked over at the Conn Officer…

“Take us out of warp.”

He glanced at the sensors again, there were three ships in a nearby system. According to the passive sensors it looked like one of the ships was damaged and the other two were assisting in repairs. The damaged ship was a Hawk class raider, the other two were a Dagger class and Westmoreland’s Starlighter. That modified Peregrine class raider was hard to miss.

“Captain Harrison to the Bridge.” K’Temoc said over the ship’s intercom, then he glanced back over to Conn Officer again. “Ease us in slowly.”

Moments later, Harrison and Pike both arrived on the Bridge, followed soon by Commander Smith and then Ensign Baratan...who looked really angry. K’Temoc stood and reported to Harrison.

“We arrived at the coordinates and dropped out of warp. We spotted three ships here,” he pointed at one of the tactical monitors that showed the three Pirate vessels, “one is the Starlighter. There’s also a Dagger class and they appear to the assisting a damaged Hawk class raider. We’re still cloaked, approaching at low impulse”

Harrison observed as he spoke, "Good. I want to know how badly damaged that Hawk class is. If their weapons are disabled, we'll only have to worry about the two ships." She glanced over at Pike then turned her attention once again back to K'Temoc.

Lee glanced and nodded to Alex letting her know that the Klingon ships where with them and cloaked.

The tactical panel beeped and K’Temoc looked over, “We’re picking up an encrypted message on a narrow band subspace channel, it’s being directed at Starbase 400.” K’Temoc reported, then looked back at Harrison.

Harrison looked concerned. That was something she didn't expect. "Let's hear it."

Lee raised an eye brow almost Vulcan like:"This could get interesting."

K'Temoc shook his head, "Computer can't decrypt it, and I don't recognize the coding. It's a safe bet that it's intended for whoever else Clark has aboard the station, and if we break subspace silence and warn them we'll be discovered and this will all be for nothing."

"Damn!" Harrison spoke under her breath.

Saith had simply watched and listened to the Captains. Her anger had faded away and now she was humming with excitement. "I might be able to decode it." she said suddenly. "I was working on that on Starbase 400 and earlier." She looked at Captain Pike and explained, "that was what I was doing when the subspace message from Starbase 349 came through."

She moved to a terminal and sat down. "I haven't gotten very far, but maybe if the computer uses my work as a starting point it could construct the rest of the code." Not knowing for sure who was in charge, she glanced at Captain Harrison, then Captain K'Temoc for approval. "at least it could do it faster than I can."

Alex weighed the options but found there to be none. She turned to Saith, "We don't have a choice. Do it." She stood behind Saith and watched her with anticipation.

Saith pulled up the file she had been working on in Security. Coupling that with the bridge computer she set it to work, watched it for a moment, made an adjustment and waited, watching. "It is not unlike a cryptogram." she had been exposed to the ancient earth brain teasers by her adopted father. Momentarily she considered how influenced by him she had been.

Lee stood off to the site keeping an eye on the other ships, he also kept one eye on the bridge crew, he was starting to wonder if maybe one of the bridge crew might be working for Clark as well. He gave a nod to Sgt. Maal.

The computer slowly began to place symbols, numbers and letters in order. Saith shook her head, "it's working, but it is going slowly, this will take a while. But for every letter or symbol placed the odds for the other letters go down, so it will go more quickly later."

K’Temoc glanced over at the Ensign, “Nice work.”

K’Temoc then took a seat at Tactical One again and kept a sharp eye on the sensors. As they closed in, the passive sensors were able to pick up in more detail what was going on with the Pirate ships.

“Looks like that Hawk is pretty beat up. Engines are down, weapons minimal, shields down, transporters offline, life support minimal. The Dagger class is running sensor sweeps of the area, but their shields are down…they are sending supplies and repair teams over to the Hawk. The Starlighter is standing off, only one person aboard.” K’Temoc paused a moment.

“I’m picking up open comm traffic, Clark is aboard the Hawk over seeing repairs, Winter is with him. Westmoreland is aboard the Starlighter.” He looked back at Alex, “I’d advise suppressing fire on the Dagger and Starlighter while I lead a Team aboard the Hawk to take Clark. If you can knock out the Starlighter’s and Daggers transporters in the first salvo, he’ll be trapped on the Hawk and we’ll take him.”

Lee turned to Alex:"I agree with Captain K'Temoc on this one. The Demon Bane and Vengence will take out the Dagger while The Koraga and the Steadfast take out the Starlighter.

Alex nodded, "Sounds good to me. Captain Pike, I want...no, I need you at Tactical. I don't want to entrust this to anyone else." This mission was too important to her and everyone else.

Lee looked at Alex and nodded:"Very well Captain I will be at tactical."

Lee turned to K'Temoc:"I would recommended taking Sgt. Maal with you Captain."

The half Klingon, quarter Vulcan, quarter Human nodded, then looked over at Saith again. "Care to come along too?"

Saith looked at K'Temoc and nodded, "Yes sir I would. Besides," she added, "I am still looking after you." She smiled and turned back to the terminal after a quick glanced towards Captain Pike. She wondered if he was going to say anything about her staying on the ship.

Lee looked at Saith:" Araemna swai ehdhihss Daise'Enarrain aellei uaefvalhuneitrde'h'n Erein." (Go with the Captain and be careful. Good luck Ensign)

"Perfect. Let's do this." Alex felt good about this plan but it was just that, a plan. They still needed to execute it.

"QaQ 'ej taH" Lee smiled (Good luck and be careful)

K’Temoc smirked, “Qapla’!” He then nodded to Saith and Maal, “Let’s go.”

Everyone went to their proper places. Alex sat in her command chair, "Prepare to decloak."

Lee headed to take over at Tactical while Sgt. Maal followed Captain K'Temoc.

As K’Temoc, Saith, and Maal entered the turbolift, the Captain had a determined look on his face as he gave the lift its destination order, “Transporter Room.”
