Mission:
Mission 79 - Triangle
Timeline: this is before the Bremer post
Finally after a couple of minutes of trading blows back and forth with the Klingon, Lee stunned him with smacking him in the face with the pommel of the Vulcan sword. Lee grabbed the Klingon's arm and flipped him over with a nice Judo throw. He then smacked him again with the pommel of the sword knocking the Klingon out cold.
Alex and Paul had been observing as Lee fought the Klingon. Paul was quite entertained by the whole thing. "Mom, did you see him flip that Klingon over?! I wouldn't mind learning to do that."
"In time dear, in time." Alex reassured him. Alex stood up, "Computer, freeze program."
Lee stood there for a minute trying to catch his breath.
Paul came running up to Lee, "Man, that was awesome. Can you teach me that?"
This was the first time that Alex had seen her son this excited about something since he had been on the base. She crossed her arms, "It looks like you have a number one fan."
Lee smiled at them both:"You must be Paul." He held out his hand to the boy"I'm Lee."
Paul shook Lee's hand, "Nice to meet you."
He then winked at Alex:"Hey babe." Lee then shrugged:"Guess maybe I do."
Alex chuckled, "You definitely do."
Lee glanced at Paul:"So I heard from your mom that you want to learn how to workout properly and also defend yourself?"
"Yeah. I tried to get my Dad to get me lessons but he made me play sports instead."
"Well, there's nothing wrong with sports. He just wanted you to follow in his footsteps." She really wanted to be truthful but she didn't want to speak ill of his deceased Dad so she candy coated it.
Paul shrugged, "I guess so. Isn't that right, Lee?"
Lee smiled:"No Paul there is nothing wrong with sports. I played football myself."
Paul nodded, "I wanted to go for the wrestling team but Dad said that they'd squash me. That was his same answer for football. He made me play baseball like he did in school."
Lee rasied an eyebrow:"And did you enjoy playing baseball?"
Looking at Paul's expression, Alex didn't realize how much his Dad played mind games like he tried with her. That made her a bit sad. She wondered if she had made the right choice...leaving him with his Dad.
Alex shrugged off the negative thoughts and turned her attention back to Lee, "Hope you don't mind us crashing your holodeck time. I was curious." She looked at the Klingon on the ground, "Not bad...for a human." She grinned.
Lee sensed the negative thoughts from Alex but didn't say anything, he figured he would talk to her about it later.:"No I don't mind that you guys showed up, you know I have been wanting to meet Paul and it was good that got to."
"Then I'm glad we came. Paul seriously wants to learn self defense from the best." She joked again, "But then we saw your holodeck program and decided to check it out." She had an amused look on her face.
He looked down at the Klingon and then back at Alex:"Not bad for a human huh? Ok there short stuff." Lee chuckled.
"I'm not short. You're just really...tall. And know what they say. The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
Paul looked at the both of them and laughed, "You guys are too funny."
Lee started to stretch out a little bit:"So what would you guys like to get started with?"
Paul chimed in, "How about teaching me that flipping move? That was really cool."
Alex put her hand on his shoulder, "Paul, you can't learn to do that until you learn the basics. For example." Alex came up behind him and grabbed him, "If someone did this, would you know how to defend yourself? Or if someone was to lunge at you with or without a weapon, would you know what to do? If you wanted to flip someone, you'd have to get pretty close to do so. And if you can't do the latter, you'll be dead in a second."
Paul looked disappointed, "That sucks."
Lee stopped stretching for a minute:"No Paul, your mother is right. You need to learn the basics first before I can teach you the judo flip. Mean I didn't learn that move right away myself."
"But eventually, you'll teach me that move." He smiled, "Then teach me the basics. What do I need to do first then?"
Alex watched the interaction between Lee and Paul. She hadn't realized how tall Paul had gotten in just a few months. His 16TH birthday was coming up in less than three months which meant that he would be going through another growth spurt. The thought made her smile.
Lee went back to stretching:"First thing you need to do is stretching that way you have a less chance of hurting yourself during your workout."
Paul wasn't new to stretching so he began to do what was familiar to him. Alex joined in as well. Paul could tell by the way his mom was looking at Lee that there was more than just a friendship between them. But he liked Lee so he didn't mind.
Lee looked over at Paul:"So do you want to stay with the jungle or shall we do our workout in another scene?"
Paul all of the sudden got this big impish grin on his face. Alex knew that look. Before she could pass Paul one of her stern stares, it was too late, "You two can show me how it's done."
Alex glared at him, "Or how about we don't and say we did."
Paul started to goad her, "You're not afraid of a challenge, are you? What better way to learn than watching the pros do it?"
Lee chuckled some:"What's the matter hun, you don't want to show your son here a few moves with me?"
Alex put her hands on her hips, "Oh my god, you too?"
He got a big sly grin on his face:"Or are you afraid I'll kick your butt."
"No, I just don't want to hurt you, that's all."
Paul shook his head, "What a cop out Mom. I don't know. Looking at him, there is no way you can beat him."
Alex sighed, "Okay Captain Pike. You're on. Let's do this."
Lee laughed:"Ok Captain Harrison let's go."
As she pulled her hair into a ponytail, she wondered what she had gotten herself into. He outweighed her and was much taller than her as well.
Lee got into a Vulcan martial arts stance ready to go:"Ladies first"
Alex stood in front of him, slightly bent forward. She needed a plan of action. She danced around Lee, looking for that moment to attack. Once that moment felt right, she lunged at him.
Lee stood there ready and waiting for her to make a move. She lunged for him, Lee quickly dropped down and scooped her up and gently dumped her over with a fire man's carry.
Alex didn't anticipate that move. Even though he didn't drop her hard on the ground, it was still a considerable drop causing her some discomfort.
He stood up and turned around.:"Are you ok?"
Alex gave him a slight glare, "I'll let you know in a few minutes." She continued to lay there.
Lee walked over to her and then held out his hand:"Come on let me help you up hun."
"Thanks." In a quick motion, she placed her left calf outside Lee's right ankle and her right shin against his knee in a way that caused him to drop. Then she rolled over and on top of him. Snickering, "Sucker."
Paul stood there watching them, "Oh come on. Really? I've seen better fighting on a cartoon."
Lee looked up and smiled:"You got me there babe."
Alex smiled, "I sure did."
He quickly reached up and grabbed hold of her and with his strength he flipped her up and over. He flipped over then wrapped his big legs around her head into a submission type hold.
She knew that she was now in trouble. He was a bit too strong for her. Normally, in a real fight, she wouldn't have ever put herself in a position that would give the opponent an upper hand.
Lee didn't really squeeze too hard with the hold but held it there.:"Do you yield?"
"No." She thought for a moment, "Yes, I give."
Lee smiled and let go of her:"So Alex, would you and Paul care to join me tonight for dinner?"
Alex smiled back, "Okay, sure, we'd love to."
Paul looked at both of them, "Dinner is great but what about the lessons?"
"Paul, you have a one track mind. I promise that as soon we get back from this mission with K'Temoc, we'll start training you properly.
Paul sounded disappointed again, "Oh alright."
All Alex could do is smile at her son's eagerness to learn.
Lee chuckled:"You will be trained before you know it Paul, you have to have some patien.."
K'Temoc interrupted“Pike, Harrison meet me in Ops.”
Lee sighed:"Well work calls." He then helped Alex up and headed for the door.:"Computer end program. Pike here, on our way to Ops sir."
