Mission:
Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: Starbase 400, Promenade
Timeline: Following K'Temoc's last post
ON:
K’Temoc had left Ops and returned to his quarters. He’s packed a small bag with his Phaser, mek’leth, extra uniform, and a few PADDs. He knew it would still be another hour or so before the Steadfast was ready to depart the station, so he decided to grab a bite to eat before putting on the second act of his show.
He made his way to the Promenade and walked toward the Japanese restaurant. He wanted to be seen. The Captain made sure to walk though the crowded areas, but he kept the angry expression on his face he’d used in Ops. A few people would say ‘hello’ or ‘good day Captain’, and K’Temoc would reply with a nod.
As he approached the Japanese restaurant, he saw two Klingons sitting at the Sushi Bar, trying the Human delicacy. K’Temoc smirked for a moment as he took the seat next to one of the Klingons. Both of them gave K’Temoc a look, wondering why he seemed to intrude on ‘their’ space, but neither said a word. K’Temoc looked over at the two of them, then back at the Sushi Chef as he stepped over.
“Spicy Tuna, Yellow Tail, and a Dragon Roll please.” K’Temoc ordered. The middle aged Japanese man behind the bar nodded and smiled. As he walked off, the two Klingons looked back at K’Temoc. One mumbled something to the other. K’Temoc faintly heard the comment, something about the spineless half-breed being too polite, and he stood up and faced the Klingon.
“If you have something to say, say it to me. Not behind my back like a cowardly petaQ!” K’Temoc said aloud. He glanced around and saw several people looking back to see what was happening.
Both of the Klingons stood up, the one closest to K’Temoc took another step closer to him. He was taller than K’Temoc, and he flashes his teeth as he spoke, “Are you challenging me? Cause if you are, make sure to say, ‘please’.” Both of the Klingons started laughing.
K’Temoc flashed a smile, then quickly back-handed the Klingon. “Please.”
The taller Warrior stumbled backwards into his comrade. As he shook off the blow, he drew his d’k tag. One of the Starfleet crewmembers in the crowd quickly tapped his comm-badge, “Ensign Wells to Security, there’s a fight on the Promenade at the Japanese restaurant!”
In Ops, Admiral Bremer was standing near to Tactical Two when the Security Alert came in. With Lieutenant Lorken and Acting-Ensign K’Wor both on assignment, he figured this would be a good test for his newest Security Officer, “Ensign Baratan, Security Alert, there’s a fight at the Japanese Restaurant on the Promenade. Please respond.”
Saith's head came up from the computer as the Security call came in. She was still the only one in the department but knew there were others on duty. In fluid motion she closed her computer station, stood and moved to the weapons. She tapped her comm badge "Security on the way." She picked up a phaser and headed out the door. She ran down the corridors, smiling to herself as people stood aside to let her pass.
The Klingon let out a grunt and swung his blade at K’Temoc. The Captain quickly jumped back out of reach, then ducked to avoid the next swing. K’Temoc quickly threw a punch which bloodied the Klingon’s mouth. As the Warrior stabbed at K’Temoc, he grabbed the Klingon’s arm and swung him into the wall behind him. The impact knocked the Klingon to the deck.
As K’Temoc turned to face the other Klingon, he noticed an unfamiliar face in a gold trimmed uniform with her hand on the phaser in her holster.
'Favdt' Saith thought to herself as she approached the altercation. 'Klingons, of course.' She considered her options and decided directness was best. The Klingon with his back to her turned and she realized it was Captain K'Temoc. She rested her hand lightly on her phaser but knew she could easily draw it if necessary. "Is there a problem here gentlemen?" she inquired. However, she didn't really need an answer and addressed K'Temoc directly, "Captain K'Temoc, would you like to explain what has happened here?"
Several minutes later, Admiral Bremer arrived at the Japanese restaurant and walked over to K’Temoc. In a quiet tone, he said, “What the hell were you thinking? A fight on the Promenade?” Mike paused a moment but as K’Temoc started to open his mouth Mike cut him off, “You’re confined to quarters. Ensign, escort the Captain to his quarters.”
Saith looked at the newcomer in annoyance. She was handling this situation! She turned to explain to the interloper that she was in charge of the situation and realized that she was face-to-face with Admiral Bremer. She hoped her face did not betray her annoyance or at the very least his annoyance towards Captain K'Temoc distracted him. "Yes sir, Admiral." she said to Bremer. To K'Temoc she motioned him down the corridor, "After you Captain." She failed to realize she still had her hand on her phaser.
K’Temoc turned to walk away, but the Japanese Chef called out to him, “Oi!” K’Temoc stopped and looked back at the man as he handed him a small container with his Sushi inside.
“Thank you.” Replied K’Temoc as the Japanese man nodded then returned behind the bar.
Saith waited for K'Temoc to get his food, then took up a position beside him in such a way that her weapon was on her side furthest from him. She knew if he so chose to, he could get to it faster than she could draw it and fire, but she also knew it would be a fight he might not win. At any rate she figured no need to just give it to him if he wanted it, at least he would have to work for it.
As they walked to the turbolift, K’Temoc looked over at the Ensign. “New aboard the Station?”
"Yes sir. It is my first shift on duty." She glanced at him slightly surprised at the 'small talk.' She knew he didn't care about the altercation, after all that was how Klingons played. What surprised her is that he didn't seem to care that she was Rihannsu. Then again she reflected, a lot of people couldn't tell the difference between Rihannsu and Vulcans. "I was familiarizing myself with the station and personnel." she stopped short, he didn't want a report of what she was doing! What was she thinking!
K’Temoc nodded. He could tell the Ensign was a little nervous. He wasn’t sure if it was because he was a Captain, or because she hadn’t dealt with a Half Klingon, Quarter Human, Quarter Vulcan before. Then again, ‘she might not know anything about me’ he thought. She did say she was going over the personnel, she might not have even made it to his file yet.
“Sushi?” He offered as he opened up the container and took out one of the Spicy Tuna Nigiri, quickly eating it.
She looked at the morsels of rice and fish and had to admit they looked rather tasty. "Um, no thank you Captain," she replied. She glanced at him trying to decide if he actually fit her initial profile of him or not. He seemed incongruent in some way. Her mind wandered about turning some attention back to her earlier and a thought came to her.
K'Temoc nodded as he picked up a piece of Yellow Tail and ate it.
She didn't realize a small gasp of air escaped her lips as she stopped walking and turned to face Captain K'Temoc. "You are in Special Ops, aren't you? Do you know much about the pirates in this sector? What about the one called Clark, is he well connected?" she asked not caring if she sounded like a Grand Inquisitor. She was wondering if what she was looking for earlier was related to the pirates.
K’Temoc stopped in mid step when the Ensign mentioned Clark’s name. ‘Was she one of Clark’s little minions’ he though.
“Ensign…I don’t think that’s a subject we should be discussing right now, in the corridors” He replied. As he said it, he realized he would need to take the young Ensign out before beaming over to the Steadfast.
