Engaging the Sydneys pt2

Posted on Fri Jun 8th, 2012 @ 11:30am by Vice Admiral James K`Temoc Bremer & Commodore Leon `Lee` Pike & Lieutenant Commander Robert Smith & Commodore Alexandra Harrison

968 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Mission 78 - Colonial Uprising
Location: USS Yorktown, Bridge
Timeline: Following K'Temoc's last post

ON:

The feedback pulse sent along the Yorktown's tractor beam had been dispersed. One Sydney was locked firm in the beam, the other two hovered close by and the unidentified Peregrine stayed behind.

"Smith, find a way to beam the pilots off those Sydneys. Alex, can you take out their warp engines without causing serious damage?" K'Temoc asked.

Alex turned to K'Temoc, "I'm very sure I can."

Smith looked over the readout on the Sydneys "They're using some form of dampening field that's preventing a pattern lock. But I think we can try something. If we can tie the transporter systems to the tractor beam emitters, we can break through the jamming and beam any lifeform off those ships.

K'Temoc looked at Smith, "Do it."

Smith turned to his engineering console and started tapping keys, "Connection established.....we got a pattern lock sir."

“Pike, get to the transporter bay, welcome our ‘guests’ and find them a nice seat in the Brig.” K’Temoc ordered with a smirk.

Lee rose from his seat and nodded:"On it sir, let's go Commander Smith."

Smith rose from his chair "Right behind you sir."

Once Pike and Smith arrived in the Transporter Bay, K’Temoc tapped the comm. “Energize.” He then glanced up at Harrison, “If they are unable to beam anyone out of one of the Sydneys, take out its engines.”

'Aye sir." She had weapons ready and observed.

K’Temoc then looked back at his sensor display, that modified Peregrine was bothering him…he knew he’d seen that ship before. He started tapping commands into his other display, looking for Federation records of the vessel.

Smith tapped on his comm badge =/\= "Smith to bridge, sir the occupants are armed. The transporter chief has them in suspended transport and has disabled their weapons."

“Understood, bring them aboard when ready.” K’Temoc replied over the comm.

Lee stood there with a phaser rifle in his hands with it set for heavy stun.:"Commander Smith, go ahead and beam those people out of the Sydneys.

Smith motioned to the transporter chief after training his rifle towards the silhouettes to beam them in.

As the pirates materialized, Smith began barking orders towards the guests. "On the ground! NOW!"

One of the pirates raised his phaser towards Pike.

Lee turns and points his phaser rifle at the pirate pointing the phaser at him.:"You have 3 seconds to drop that weapon and get on the ground before I shoot you where you stand."

Slowly, the men lowered their weapons and knelt on the deck. One spoke up, "What are you charging us with?"

Lee smiled, phaser rifle still pointed at the pirates:"Your being charged with piracy and for being plum stupid."

While Pike and Smith were securing their new 'guests' in the Brig, K'Temoc was still looking over the specs of the other vessel. 'Peregrine class raider, two Type-U pulse phaser emitters, two Type-10 phaser arrays, fore and aft photon torpedo tubes, Class 7 hull conformal shielding, and a cloak...'

K'Temoc looked up at the screen, "The Starlighter!" He said aloud. “Alex, lock weapons on that ship. Chief, open a channel.”

A subtle beep from the computer indicated the channel was open, "Starlighter, this is Captain K'Temoc of the Federations Starship Yorktown. Stand to and prepare to be boarded."

A few minutes passed, then finally a reply. The screen flashed to a view of the Starlighter's cockpit. Three men were seated and all turned to face the screen...

"Clark." K'Temoc replied with almost a growl in his voice....

"Good to see you again too young man." Clark replied. "I believe you know my friends here. Jon Westmoreland, owner and Captain of this vessel...and former Chief of Security aboard the Pegasus during the Dominion War I believe. And a former colleague of yours, James Winter." Clark flashed his usual smirk.

K'Temoc was furious. It was bad enough Clark appeared to be involved with the thefts of the Sydney class runabouts, and that his former friend...the Admiral's former friend...Jon Westmoreland had been behind Clark's breakout from a Federation Penal Facility and aiding him, but now they had confirmation that James Winter was also collaborating with Pirates.

"You honorless petaQ! You've all betrayed your uniforms, your oath to Starfleet! Worse yet, you Jon and you James have betrayed Mike, me, all of your friends!"

The Captain looked over at Harrison, "Lock phasers and quantum torpedoes on their bridge and prepare to fire."

Harrison nodded, "Weapons ready."

Westmoreland stood up and leaned closer to the monitor as Clark moved back slightly, "This isn't personal KT, I didn't wake up saying 'Hmm, how can I piss off Bremer and KT today?'...it's..."

K'Temoc cut him off, "It's what? Business? West, you had a promising career. Lieutenant Commander, Chief of Security and Tactical aboard the Pegasus-A...."

"That's right...then the Dominion War ended, the Pegasus-A was destroyed, and Starfleet transferred me. While your career took off, mine stalled. That's when I met Clark, and while I didn't agree with everything he said or did, he was there for me when I needed a friend. Where were you? Where was that qoH of a brother of yours?" He sat back down, "I didn't betray my uniform, it betrayed me."

K'Temoc paused for a moment, "That’s an excuse…an excuse that doesn’t protect you from the consequences of your actions…breaking Clark out of prison and stealing Starfleet property. You have ten seconds to lower your shields.”

Clark smirked again, then the computer beeped an alert…

Harrison knew that sound was not good. In an urgent voice, she spoke, "Captain, there is a high energy reading coming from all three Sydneys." There was no time to explain, "We need to leave...NOW!"
