"Where are they?" Asked Osmond while the Inquiry class ship moved away from an asteroid field.

"Still holding position on there last check." Said the tactical officer.

"Well at least they're patient.". Said Osmond clicking a button on his chair. "Chief you ready?"

The burly chief responded after a grunt. "Ready as ever. I want this bird in one piece afterwards though!". Said the chief as Osmond chuckled.

"That'll be easy don't worry.". Said Osmond. "Alright stations ready. Helm take us out.". The ship moved forward. Gracefully edging onwards towards the fight. Edg'rrr sighed at the sight that they created. It was a simple yet untested device that would hopefully give an edge against the gremlin torpedoes. Edg'rrr still thinks it's a bit amusing how the crew decided on a name for the weapon.

As the Dahl'hevva came upon the Gul's fleet a comm bleep sounded. "Message sir. Straight from the main ship." Said the communication officer as Osmond waved a hand at the screen. The Gul appeared relaxed in his chair.

"Captain how amazing to see Starfleet having a backbone again. Especially after shooting itself in the foot, two, maybe three times now?". Said the Gul to which Osmond showed some restraint but regained himself rapidly.

"Well you know after beating most of the known empires we had to reshuffle a few things. Upgrade. Adapt. See if we can make things more fair because clearly with superior weaponry, tactics, and what not your fleet couldn't even bring us down yet." Said Osmond having a but of fun seeing the Gul gritting his teeth. "Surrender now and no further harm will come to either you or your cr-" an alarm sounded as Osmond's tactical officer yelled.

"Sir incoming weapons fire eighty six by one oh seven degrees aft starboard!". Yelled the tactical officer.

"Helm twist her now and get us closer to the fleet! Tact target closest vessel and aim for the nacelle fins on the galors." Said Osmond as the ship rocked and everyone on each deck could feel the grav plating struggle with the forces of the twist. Edg'rrr clung to his station's console for dear life. With a few thooms from the torpedo bays going off elsewhere.

"Guess we're finally in the long ride now!" Said one of the people Edg'rrr was working with.

"Let's just focus on the device and make sure the chief doesn't hound us later." Said another. More thooms were heard along with another pull this time to the other end of the room.

"Edggahh! Putting a feed on your monitor. Captain says you see those gremlins you use that buffer against them got me?!" Yelled the chief over Edg'rrr's badge. Tapping it Edg'rrr gave his reply.

"Yes sir. Please inform the captain however we may only get a couple of charges from it. If we press it too hard it could cause a feedback into the shield systems blowing out every emitter." Said Edg'rrr as a bit of silence caused him to be on edge.

"I'll plan your funeral personally if that happens! Chief out." Said the chief as Edg'rrr started to feel relieved. Even though it took a little while those he worked with opened up more about life on the ship. The chief's threats were usually a sign he liked what was going on so most of them were encouraged whenever we was "playfully enraged". On his console a live video feed of the battle was seen with sensor data and ship locations in the corners. It was bizarre but whatever Captain Osmond's strategy was it involved getting close to the enemy instead of keeping a distance.

Edg'rrr was unsure whether to feel adventurous or concerned as the hulls of the cardassian ships grazed by close enough to barely make out the crew in a few of the openings. In fact Edg'rrr was surprised the different shield harmonics between both vessels weren't damaging either but he thought perhaps whoever was at the helm was making sure they were only just far enough away. Indeed several rounds from the Gul's fleet were seen striking there own allies instead. Osmond was close so that the Gul couldn't use the gremlins without diminishing his own forces. Until eventually only his kitbashed ship was left.

It was a few more jolts and twists yet the Dahl'hevva was charging at the strange thing before several lights began lighting up in front of the kitbashed ship. Edg'rrr checked the sensors. It matched the gremlin torpedoes. Except if the Captain said anything it must've triggered the Gul into releasing everything. The buffer device could indeed handle a few strikes. What Edg'rrr saw however were a couple at first. Then a dozen. Then fifty. Before finally a hundred various lights were seen coming right at the Dahl'hevva. They wouldn't, no, couldn't evade them all. Edg'rrr had to think. He needed a bit more time to work this out. "A crew is more like a family." Said Osmond in a memory.

Snapping to he realized something. "Alright everyone we have a hundred of these things bearing down and about a minute or two before they arrive. I can only come up with maybe blowing the emitters into a pulsewave at it all. Options?" Asked Edg'rrr as the team looked at him, smiled to each other, then turned around getting right to work.

"Cat ain't letting chief plan that funeral alone.". Said one of them laughing. "Popping a reverse feed."

"Funeral? Boy's got too much spunk. Chief's gonna gather the crew and drop him in the hole for this haha!" Said another. "Power is flowing nicely boss."

"Shhhh. Shhhh. Shhhh. We need to find a really popular planet though and make sure the statue over him is a mile high to serve as a warning ya know?" Said the third as Edg'rrr smiled returning to his screen. "Buffer generator is at full strength. Ready on your command!" Edg'rrr watched closely waiting for the right time to deploy the device.

As the lights drew closer Edg'rrr's nerves drew on edge. The Dahl'hevva wasn't slowing down. It wasn't trying to avoid them. It wasn't even worried about the other enemy ships still left trying to shoot at it. Edg'rrr was sure that Osmond's next plan was that even if the ship was struck the kinetic force of the debris would take out the Gul regardless who in turn wanted to make sure no fragments could. Closer they came.

A beep sounded. "Mr. Anisu I really hope you're ready." Said Osmond over the badge communicator. To which just before the first torpedo could strike the edge of the Dahl'hevva's shields Edg'rrr waved a hand down behind him.

"NOW!" Yelled Edg'rrr as his team pressed there respectful commands into there consoles and as the entire room lit up in a flash of green light before being plunged into darkness entirely Edg'rrr could feel shield emitters exploding on the hull. The wave expelled from the Dahl'hevva spread out into every direction detonating every gremlin torpedo in a spectacular display of pyrotechnics before reaching the Gul's ship. As it's own shield emitters overloaded the Dahl'hevva fired off a few more of her own torpedoes severing the nacelles from their pylons. Slowing down and coming about the USS Dahl'hevva moved triumphant behind the disabled kitbashed ship.

"It wasn't long that the rest of the fleet surrendered. However Captain Osmond wasn't able to, umm, capture the Gul. Only from what I know sir that the odd amalgamated ship he used either self destructed or simply received too much damage and was destroyed." Said Edg'rrr sitting in a room talking to the screen. "The other reports after we returned to Derp Space Nine aren't as noteworthy as the first ones. I did find working with the crew rather enjoyable however sir and definitely have been working to improve my behaviors. Captain Osmond stated he has already given you more updated and detailed reports on what we found in the neutral zone border. He made a special note of a D'Tan I think the name was in fact." The video paused as the one viewing tapped a glass before taking a drink.

"Hasn't Starfleet reassigned this one Admiral?" Said a voice within the dark room as the viewer finished there drink.

"To be kept on the Dahl'hevva, yes, with all personal belongings transfered to Starbase One. Don't fret as Admiral Bremer has been made fully aware." Said the admiral.

"Are you sure this is a wise move?" Asked the voice as the viewer smiled.

"It's a big galaxy and we're just getting started." Said the viewer to the purpled haired officer with dual eyebrows.
