Mission: Episode 119 - "Shattered Mirror"
Location: Starbase 400, Tactical Operations
Timeline: MD3, 0800hrs

ON:

Dee, who, as usual, was up earlier than necessary for the briefing was already outside the doors to the Tactical Operations Briefing Room with her trusty blue mug in her hands filled with a strong Trill coffee blend. She didn't want to be the first one in there and sit alone in an empty room so she stood patiently to see who would come next and then go in the room with them.

Deela T'lar heard that there was a briefing ordered by Bremer. She wasn't told what it was about. She hoped that her plans wouldn't be ruined by whatever it was. She was curious. After she dropped off Raivyn at Alex's quarters to keep her safe, she headed for tactical operations. Once she arrived, she noticed Vox standing at the entrance but she hadn't gone in. Deela nodded to her, "Lt. Vox, why are you not going in? Is the door locked or something?"

"Good morning, Admiral. There is no one in there yet, and I just didn't fancy sitting in a large room alone. One of my oddities I suppose. Now that you have arrived, we can go in together. "

Deela smiled, "I'm sure most of us on this base have oddities of some kind." She gestured towards the door, "After you." She followed Vox into the room. Once she entered, she sat down at her usual seat near where Bremer sits. She glanced over at Vox and then realized that she also needed something to drink. So, she got back up and replicated herself some fruit-flavored iced tea, then sat back down again.

"One of my other oddities is never to be the first to go for seconds at a buffet. " Dee commented, sipping her coffee.

Deela chuckled, "I'll remember that for the next time." Deela saw more people starting to enter the room.

Dee nodded and continued to sip her coffee.

Coleman, per his usual routine these days, was carrying a stack of PADDs in one arm as he strolled into Tactical Operations. He saw that there were already a few people who beat him in as he smiled towards them. Coleman said, "Good morning everyone. Does anyone know why we were called down here for a briefing?"

Deela responded to his question, "That is a very good question. Unfortunately, I am as much in the dark as you are." This is one thing that always bugged her. She's the XO and Bremer rarely shared with her about these briefings.

Colonel Bagwell entered the room. He had a hot steaming cup of coffee in his hands. He could see that a few senior officers were already in tactical operations. He slowly made his way over to Admiral T'Lar. "Good Morning Admiral." He said, as he waited for her to respond.

Deela acknowledge Bagwell with a smile, "Good morning Colonel."

Anna came in with a bottle of water in her hand. She glanced around, seeing that her husband was speaking with the admiral, looked around and took a seat in the other side of Dee. “Good Morning.” She said. Anna left the seat next to her open in case Zeke wanted to sit by her.

"Could it have to do something with the mysterious events that we've had recently? I know that I'm not the only one that had some crazy things happen to them over the last few days and weeks, so could it do something with that?" Coleman asked T'Lar, but really opened it up to everyone that was already there.

"It's possible." It was all she could say. She didn't want to speculate.

"Well, hopefully, it's nothing too crazy. Lord only knows that the mirror universe is full of some nefarious characters and I wouldn't want to be caught in their crosshairs," Coleman replied as they waited for everyone to file in.

Anna preferred to wait for the others to arrive and hear what was going on rather than speculate. She felt they would hear soon enough. She understood curiosity, it just wasn't her way.

K'Wor was the next to enter. He nodded to everyone present as he walked to the side of the room to wait. What was happening, he wasn't sure, but he hoped it wouldn't take all day or lead to an aware mission. He had a date with a beautiful Betazoid Lieutenant that recently transferred to Station and he didn't want to miss it.

The doors slid open as Xalanth stepped through. The lizard had a smile that any could tell he was over the moon as he took his seat.

Ezekiel simply nodded as he saw the cheapest security walking into the room. "Good to see you again Mr Xalanth." He really hadn't talked to him since they resolve the changeling incident. Is Marines were working with his Security forces to secure the station.

" As it is to see you again Ezekiel. " Xalanth said beaming with joy. " My second blessed me with another daughter yesterday. Going to be many sleepless nights ahead."

"I hear you, we just had our first. And insists on getting up with him at night. I don't know how she does it." Ezekiel said with a smile on his face, but deep down he wondered how she did it. They were both the first time parents and they were learning together.

" You'll be a great dad Ezekiel." Xalanth said reassuringly. " Belive me i know i have six of them."

Lennox and Roebuck arrived to find most of the requested officers already there. The two glanced at each other and realized something was up...but what they didn't know yet.

Dee stared into a, now empty, mug. She quickly got up and approached the replicator in the briefing room. "Vox Trill Coffee Blend 103." She requested. Once the mug had materialised, she took it back to her seat.

Anna headed over as she saw Dee getting something to drink and got herself a full strength cup of coffee. She felt like she needed it right now.

Dee spotted Anna sitting down with a beverage. "Hi Anna. " she pointed to inside her cup. "Trill Blend 103, good and strong. You might like this one." she commented.

Anna smiled at her. “I went with a black coffee.” She looked at Dee’s cup. “I should ditch it and try that.”

"You are more than welcome to try a sip first if you like." Dee replied, sliding the mug over to Anna.

"What are you drinking?" Ezekiel asked, as he looked over to you Anna and Dee. Whatever it was, it had a beautiful aroma to it.

"Hi Zeke. I have one of my various Trill Coffee blends, number 103. "

"And I am about to get one of my own." Anna said to her husband. "Would you like me to grab one for you as well?"

"I'd appreciate that." Zeke said with a big smile on his face, he was very capable of getting the drink but he didn't want to upset his wife by contradicting her in front of everybody.

Anna headed over and soon came back with a cup for each of them. "Are you sitting anywhere special or shall we grab seats together?" She knew that most of the time, he was seated in a particular chair.

Finally, Mike walked in with Commanders Stark and Draven and the Admiral motioned everyone over to one of the briefing tables.

Once everyone gathered, Mike went right into the briefing. "Thank you all for coming. I apologize it took me a little longer to arrive, I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." He paused for a brief moment.

"To the issue at hand. You are all aware of the incursions by Mirror Universe agents some time ago, and briefs regarding the event from last night and the arrival of a Mirror Universe ship. What that report doesn't say is that we are now in possession of the technology they use to get here...and that we're going on a little site seeing expedition to their side of the mirror." Mike paused again for everyone to make notes on their PADDs and process what was told.

"Mister Stark has already paid a brief visit to their version of Starbase 400, so we know this works." Mike held up a portable interdimensional transporter device. "Our mission is to not on review the technology they currently have, but to sabotage anything we can to try and prevent or delay them from crossing over to our side and if possible, expunge any data from their system they extracted from us. We also need to confirm if they have any additional incursions planned, their objectives, timeline, etc. This is not an all-out assault, we go over there with guns blazing and we won't stand a chance at succeeding. Questions?"

"Just a couple, Admiral, Firstly, if we encounter any technology that clearly belongs to us and is small enough to obtain, are we OK to confiscate it? or would it be best to sabotage it? Secondly, from our last encounter with folk from the other side of the mirror, you will recall I ran into the mirror version of Raekwon, my previous host. He seemed, somewhat, at odds with the plans of others to infringe upon our side of the mirror and was agreeable to help us before. Should I encounter him, should I approach or stay well clear? " Dee asked.

"Destroy it." Stark replied instead of Bremer. "Most of what they've stolen lately is ship designs and information regarding other tech."

"But if you see a phaser or commbadge laying around, feel free to liberate it and bring it home." Draven added with a smile.

Mike nodded, then addressed the other questions. "In regards to the Mirror version of Raekwon, avoid if possible. If not possible, and he agrees to help, we'll play that out on the fly."

Dee nodded. Part of her wanted to meet the mirror Raekwon again but would avoid unless, as Mike said, unavoidable.

" What happens if we encounter are counterparts? " Xalanth added. This whole thing had him rattled. As far as he was concerned there was only him. His mind, his body his soul. What if some other Xalanth was just on the other side of the mirror?

"Avoid them if at all possible." Mike replied.

Anna took notes for herself. She agreed to the mission at hand. It was important to stop them from doing this again. Next time they might be so lucky.

"Admirals, would we want to make something like an old Earth-style EMP type of weapon? It could be used to disrupt a large enough area, but be programmed to be contained enough to not kill or harm anyone. Plus, we could make it portable, something that we might be able to put in all of the away team's combadges, so it could be concealed and readily available," Coleman asked, curious as to how the away mission was going to work.

"An EMP burst could potentially affect us as well. Would have to make sure we were shielded from its effects. But if we do that the enemy also could potentially shield themselves from the effects." Zeke suggested. He liked the idea, but he didn't want to give a weapon that could benefit the enemy as well.

"If you are going with that plan." Anna spoke up. "I would recommend medical close by. Even the best laid plans can go astray." She didn't want anyone getting hurt without medical there. Anna always prepared for worst case scenerio.

"Well, I'm wondering if we could use the EMPs and use something weapons or techniques that wouldn't require any energy. Just something to think about," Coleman said, shrugging as he threw out some ideas.

Deela sat quietly while a few gave their suggestions. She had none of her own as she was too busy thinking how this situation couldn't come at a better time. She had her own agenda and now, she had a way to get to the mirror universe with Starfleet's permission. She no longer needed Jim, her trusted friend's help. Although Deela didn't see her doppelgänger die, she wasn't worried about meeting her because she was assured by Jim that she was surely dead. Deela sat back in her chair, arms folded, while she continued to listen to everyone talking.

Ezekiel sat back in his chair waiting to see if anyone else had any other ideas, sounded like the only real plan they really had was the EMP but they needed to find a way to protect their key systems so they weren't affected as well. They had a lot of brilliant minds in the room he hope somebody can come up with a better plan but if not they needed to execute this plan smartly.

"Well, maybe we can use the EMP style weapons as a backup. But, something else is how closely are their systems to our own? Could we maybe write a code or virus that would take their systems out long enough to allow us to make an entrance and get everything done before they even know what hit them?" Coleman asked.

"I'm open to any other suggestions." Ezekiel suggested, hoping somebody had an alternative idea. So far they seemed stumped, and empty but they're only a real option.

"We could use photon grenades." Stark replied. "Remove the antimatter from the explosive core...like the Flash and Stun versions. Replace it with a pulse emitter...a phaser crystal should do...set the detonator to send a pulse of electromagnetic energy through the crystal so it resonates out as a sinewave pulse. We'll have to make minor changes to the grenade's pressure chamber but it should be easy enough. We'll only see a little purple flash visibly...most of the light spectrum will be in ultraviolet ranges. I could have a dozen ready in an hour."

Mike nodded. "Do it."

"If we place them in key places, near a computer core, it'll erase everything faster than a data shredding virus would and make the core no better than a door stop." Draven added.

"Anyone else?" Mike asked.

When no one spoke up, Mike dismissed the room to get to work on making preparations.
