Mission:
Episode 119 - "Shattered Mirror"
Location: Messhall
Timeline: MD2
Messhall.
“Hey cutie. Wow, listen to me, so professional. Afternoon, Lieutenant.” Jax said it with a big smirk on his face, they were in uniform he should probably sound more professional. They were currently on a lunch break. He knew they didn't have enough time to head down to the Promenade.
“Hey there Lieutenant” putting her hand to the side of her mouth as she whispered “Handsome.” She smiled. “Did I tell you I am on the away team to visit the Mirror Universe?” She asked.
“I don't know if I should be excited for you or concerned.” Jaxon replied as both emotions ran through his body at the same time. One side of things he was very excited for her as it would be a big opportunity for her. On the other he knew how ruthless that universe was.
“I am excited about it but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned or somewhat frightened by it. We both know what we have heard about the ruthless nature of that universe. Very much darker than our own. I have wondered if there is a mirror of me over there. I already know that, if there is, she isn’t joined to Vox. I have met the mirror version of Raekwon, who was my last host in this universe but over there, he wasn’t the current host. All he said was that he knew of the name Vox and heard they were a very dangerous individual, a bounty hunter and an assassin for hire.“
“Someone's been doing her homework, that's good I mean you'll have a good chance of coming back alive.” Jaxon said reaching for her hands, typically he wouldn't do this in public but he was concerned for her safety. And they were on a break so technically they weren't doing anything wrong. “I want you to come back in one piece.” He said almost in a desperate voice.
“Of course I will. “ Dee replied. She held his hands. “I will do all I can to stay safe over there. I am not sure of the details why we are going over but I am sure all that will soon become clear.” She added.
“Better come home to me.” Jaxon said trying to put on a strong face, not trying to show her the weakness that was in his eyes. But with 300 plus years of experience being a symbiote host, she probably saw through his deception but he wanted to be strong for her.
She reached across the table and held his hands.
“I will come home to you. I promise. I will do everything to keep myself safe.” She knew that look. She had been on both sides of this situation with past hosts.
She sighed as she recalled the last words Korean said to his wife Lucy before leaving for, would be his last test flight ‘I will be back for dinner tonight’. The fighter he was testing, crashed, killing him but luckily not Vox. She shook herself trying not to remember the moments before the crash. She could see Jax looked worriedly at her. She smiled.
“This smile has me believing that you're just as nervous as I am.” Jaxon tried to show his emotions. It was hard, as a man he was told not to show feelings. But Dee brought out the best in him. And he wanted to show it by holding her hand, both of them were nervous. But he had faith that she'd be able to do her job, and come home.
“Nervous is putting it mildly. I've read up on the mirror universe and it's something straight out of a horror movie. But, knowing I have you to come home too will only strengthen me in getting out of there in one piece.” She replied firmly, holding his hands.
“This is going to sound cheesy, I'm so glad I met you. You better come back to me, cuz I don't know what I would do if I lost you.” Jaxon said, feeling very vulnerable at this moment. He said squeezed her hand gently.
Dee chuckled. “It's not cheesy at all. It’s you coming to the surface, you know, the true you. I will be honest here, I wasn’t sure I would find someone like you. Up until now, the relationships I have found myself in, have ended pretty rough. Which, again if I am honest, I often blamed myself, when I probably shouldn’t have. Being with you is a breath of fresh air. I feel free with you. Free to be me. “ she paused. “Who is sounding cheesy now?” she said, smiling at him.
“We both are, but I am oddly okay with that.” Jaxon said, as he leaned in to give her a small kiss. He did not care about regulations at the moment. He wanted to express his emotions on the outside.
The two kiss, leaning across the table without a single care of who might see. Regulations be damned. Leaning back across the table..”After my shift, shall I visit you in your quarters and you could give me a tour, especially the bedroom.” She said, giving him a suggestive grin.
Jaxon got her message loud and clearly. With a big dopey grin on his face, he said. “That can be arranged, make sure you have plenty of time for the tour.” He hinted, with a big cheesy smirk on his face.
“Don't worry, I will make sure I have plenty of time for the tour. I would like the full tour with the option to test the facilities.” She said with a wink.
Jaxon just grinned as he leaned in for another kiss. “You know you're my kind of trouble, that's a compliment.” You love the fact that she was not afraid to express her feelings.
“Being trouble is considerably more fun than being ordinary and boring.” She replied, giving him a long kiss.
“I don't want to sound like I'm talking negatively cuz I'm not but this one looks like this to make you really appreciate who's there for you and I really do appreciate the fact you're here with me right now and I believe because of that you will come back from the mission.” Jaxon said, trying to give her every motivation to want to come back.
“Of course I will come back. Not only because I have you to come home to but this place would probably start to fall apart without me.” She said, clearly exaggerating her importance in the grand scheme of things aboard Starbase 400.
“I just needed to hear you say it, hearing that makes me feel so much more relaxed.” Jaxon said with the big grin on his face. “When do you guys head out?” He asked, hoping I still have some time together before she left.
“I don't think we have been advised that yet so I am not sure what time we have before we depart.” Dee replied. She wished she had a more definitive answer.
“Things happen for a reason, the mission will happen when it's meant to. They're probably keeping it under wraps. Missions like that are very high risk..” Jaxon said. He didn't know for sure but that was his best guess.
