Mission:
Episode 116 - "A Bounty of Trust"
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: MD3 1745 hrs
Dustin was patrolling the Promenade area, doing his secondary security officer duties. It felt like a waste of time, in his eyes but he knew it was necessary. He smiled as he saw an old friendly face approaching him.
Anna was headed towards her quarters having had a particularly long day. She had hoped to see more of Zeke since their ship was being worked on but it hadn’t been the case so far.
“Dustin!” She called out, a smile on her face as she turned and walked over to him. “How are you doing?”
"HEY DOC." Dustin yelled back. He sat in a chair watching her approach his position.
Anna grinned at him as she reached the table. “Are you on a break?”
"Seems like the work is never ending so yeah, it makes me really miss the Falcon right now." Dustin said, hoping that answered her question.
“I miss it at times as well.” Anna said. “And all of you. I feel like I’m separated from my ship family.”
"Well now your department head of a station. It's a great honor you know." Dustin pointed out to her.
“It is.” Anna nodded. “I know that. There are things I love about this job but the down side is I miss all of you.”
"We miss you as well, we have a new doc, but not sure if they will be as good as you. They sure can't replace you." Dustin suggested to Anna.
Anna smiled. “As long as they take good care of you I am happy.” She paused. “Soon, that doctor will become a part of your ship family. It is the way of things.” It was the one drawback to leaving the ship, she wasn’t really one of them anymore.
"if I may be so bold. That is nonsense, you're marrying our captain you're part of this family even if you're not on the ship." Dustin suggested to Anna with a big grin on his face.
“You are right.” Anna agreed. “The change has been an adjustment.”
"even though you're on the station now, you're still part of our family." Dustin pointed out to her. "Now you're also part of the station family we have two families where we only have one Starfleet family." Dustin suggested to her. He knew that the station could also be part of his family, but most of them felt like they sent too much time on the power to really be a part of it stations crew. How are moments like this when the ship was in dock he didn't realize that he is a part of the station. Probably embrace that become friends with a lot of the stations personnel.
“One big family.” Anna nodded with a smile. “Sorry for my angst there for a bit. You all mean a lot to me.”
"if we're being honest, I think the Falcon crew needs to learn how to communicate with the station crew we're all one big family promise we're All in this together." Dustin said to her, thinking that she could be some kind of conduit to making that happen.
“We do.” Anna said with a smile. “Maybe we should plan some gatherings where we mix with the station crew.”
"I can not speak for Aubrey, but I know I would love that." Dustin said with a big grin on his face. He knew better than to speak for his lady.
“You check with her and I’ll talk ran to Zeke and we can get a plan in action.” Anna said with a smile. They knew once she see her mind to something she was going to do it.
"Okay." Dustin said, hoping the other we're just as board as he was going to be open to the idea. He knew he needed more friends, a larger family in order to fulfill his own selfish needs of not wanting to feel alone on a station full of people.
"Good!" Anna grinned. "I know I will get Zeke on board and he can take care of any objections."
"I think one of these nights we should all go out to dinner?" Dustin suggested to Anna. It would be nice to have a senior staff dinner.
“That would be fun.” Anna agreed. “Reserve a table and go and have a good time together. It’s been a long time.”
"To long if you ask me." He said rhetorically with a grin.
"So we are going to do this." Anna was excited. "When do we want to have it and where?"
"are you supposed to talk to Commander Bagwell about that?" Dustin asked her in response. He answered her question by asking his own question.
“Yes.” Anna nodded. “But we should have details and a plan if we expect him to agree.”
"Agreed." Dustin said as the scene starts to fade away
Anna smiled, thinking that they had come up with a good plan and the others would be so happy.
