Mission: Episode 115 - Planting for the Future
Location: USS Visionary-Conference Lounge
Timeline: MD1-1300 hours

ON:

Commander Coleman was sitting in the Briefing Room onboard the USS Visionary, one of the new vessels attached to the Starbase. He had gotten a few reports about the USS Tikhov, one of the main seed ships of the Federation. It had been going strong for at least 100-200 years by this point and it was time for a new incarnation, since the last one was destroyed.

Tapping his combadge, Coleman said, "Coleman to Vashir, K'Lar, McWire, and Vox. Can you come over to the briefing room onboard the Visionary. I'd like to discuss this new project that the starbase is taking on. Meet me over her at 1300 pleaase."

McWire tapped his combadge "On my way Commander."

Vox tapped her combadge. "On route to you now sir."

The message reached K'lar in the middle of a shuttle flight. He had been testing out upgrades to the little ship's sensors. "En route, sir." The shuttle banked as the Klingon science officer input a sharp course correction.

Meeting room Visionary at 1300

McWire beamed onboard the Visionary. He greeted the Transporter Chief as he stepped off the platform and walked to the nearest lift.
Moments later he arrived at the conference room door he pressed the chime and waited for a response.

Coleman heard the chime to his door. Coleman had been looking over some of the information that Admrials Bremer and T'Lar had sent over regarding the Tikhov and how they wanted each department to handle everything. He wanted to make sure that Engineering and Sciences could work together when needed and that the seeds would be in good hands.

"Come in" came the response. Percy entered. " Good afternoon Commander" he said greeting the commander. It seems he was the first to arrive of the staff that got summoned. He took his place next to the Commander.

"Welcome onboard the Visionary! I just finished up a tour of her and got the new information about our mission about the Tikhov. Thought it would be fun to spice things up and have a meeting onboard one of our new starships instead of the Starbase all the time. Plus, we're overlooking the Tikhov right now, so I thought that would be a fun little thing too," Coleman said, getting up from his chair and walking over to the replicator. Pointing to it, Coleman asked, "Anything for you, Lieutenant?"

“Yes, please Cmdr. may I have a coffee” Percy asked

Coleman walked back to the replicator and ordered some coffee for Percy, handing him the cup after it came out of the replicator.

Vox arrived aboard the Visionary. Quite a ship. Very different from the Cushing she had been working on the last few days. She made her way to the meeting room. She tapped the door chime and waited.

K'lar arrived moments after Vox. The turbolift had taken him from the shuttlebay to the opposite side of the hall. "Afternoon", he said to her with a curt nod. The doors opened soon afterwards.

"Afternoon" Vox replied. She followed K'lar into the room.

K'lar quietly took his seat, not wanting to make his entrance a spectacle.

Taking a seat, Vox took out a padd and laid it on the table. Her padd had the current details of all the various ships involved in this assignment with the status levels up to date as of 30 minutes prior to the meeting.

Vashir walked briskly through the door, "Sorry guys. I'm here," she said realizing that she was the last one to the meeting. She had come from the far side of the station, and for some reason it hadn't occurred to her that a transporter might have been more efficient. "I hope I haven't missed anything," she commented with a smile.

Once everyone arrived, Coleman took a seat and said, "Welcome onboard one of our newest ships for Starbase 400. I've called everyone over to see how to speed everyone is about one of our newest arrivals to the station. The Tikhov. Anyone heard of her before?"

"I haven't, no." Vox replied.

K'lar looked confused at first as he thought to himself. "I have heard new ships were being assigned to this sector. I assume the Tikhov is one of them?" His last sentence sounded more like a question as he wasn't too sure of the fact.

"Just by name only," Vashir responded. She was still new to the station, and getting used to having multiple ships in and out docking. "I take it we have a project?" she asked.

"Yes, we do. Different projects for different people. But, the Tikhov is the seed ship of the Federation. It carries on it seeds from various Federation and several non-Federation worlds. We're tasked with making sure the new Tikhov is prepared to take on the seeds and make sure the seeds are correctly sorted into their correct containers for transport. That's why I wanted both science and Engineering involved within this. Engineering will work on making sure the ship is ready to go while us in science makes sure that we can get the seeds and the seeds are secured for transport within the Federation. Vashir, K'Lar, we'll have a separate meeting to get everything squared away for science, but does anyone have any questions?" Coleman asked, looking around the room.

"I am currently working on getting the USS Cushing back in order so she can be part of the escort. Sadly she was left for a well over a year without being used and getting any updates, so there is plenty to do. I can get my team to take over if I am needed on the Tikhov, Is this likely to be the case?" Vox asked.

"I'll let you and Mr. McWire go over there to see what is needed onboard. As for Vashir and K'Lar, get a count of the seeds that are onboard, making sure that we can figure out which ones that we need to get and from where. Any other questions?" Coleman replied, looking around the room.

"Very good Sir. We are close to finishing the work on the Cushing so I can easily move to check on the Tikhov." Vox replied

Percy noded " Understood." and then continued listing.

"I will be sure to bring a copy of the station's seed manifest on PADD. The Life Sciences department carries many seeds for the biosphere and arboretum. Perhaps we shall be able to replenish some from this supply. Maybe even add." His mind thought of the various klingon plants he had begun to introduce to the station.

Looking over at Vox, Coleman said, "Yeah, that will work quite nicely. Once you're done with the Cushing, it should be pretty easy to get the Tikhov into the same bay because I think it's a Miranda Class Starship."

Turning to K'Lar and Vashir, Coleman replied, "Get everything started and make a list of the seeds that are missing or damaged, then get started on getting the new ones from the biodome like you guys have said. Anything else from anyone?

"I will send over the engineering team working on the Cushing once they have completed their work, which should be in an hour or so. Then I will join them on the Tikhov. " Vox replied.

"Okay, is there anymore questions before I let you guys go?" Coleman asked, looking around the room to see if anyone had questions.

Vashir felt awkward as she sat in silence, thinking about her families wide reaching agricultural business and the powerful ties they held with the Syndicate, and how she had worked her life to not have to involve herself with those people again.

"Alright, if there's nothing else, I'll let you guys get to it. I'd like a report from everyone by tomorrow afternoon around this time. If you have any questions, just let me know!" Coleman said, dismissing them to begin their work on the seed ship for the Federation.

"Right away sir", K'lar said before he stood and waited for Vashir to also rise. He hoped to speak with her about the upcoming plans on the way back to Starbase 400. She seemed to stall, so K'lar nodded goodbyes to everybody present before making his exit.

Vashir lingered, waiting for a chance to speak to Commander Coleman privately. Once the room had cleared out, he noticed that she was still there.

"Sir," She spoke uncharacteristically timidly. "I may have some connections. Connections, I'd rather not have to resort to using, but if it's necessary we can, and I just wanted to make you aware of who I am. Of who my family is, and that I would be willing to reach out to them if needed. They run and operate the largest agricultural business conglomerate... " she paused. "There are Syndicate ties as you can imagine. I can assure my record is clean, and I would never... but I just wanted..." She trailed off. This was getting more awkward for her the longer she spoke. "This is important sir, and I didn't want there to be any stone unturned if I could be of assistance."

"Well, lets take a look at how the ship is hanging in there and see what's missing and go from there. I know that family can be prickly sometimes, as I know that mine can be interesting. But, I just want you to know that we'll talk before we ever do anything, especially if it's something that makes you uncomfortable. Lets just start at the beginning and we'll take it a step at a time, okay?" Coleman said, reassuring Vashir that no matter what happened during this mission, all would be okay.

Nodding, Vashir replied, "Nothing that I can think of sir. But, if anything should come up, you'll be the first to know!"

Coleman nodded and said, "Alright, dismissed then. Let me know what you and K'Lar find out about the seeds onboard the ship." With that, Coleman offered the Lieutenant to head out first before following her out to the turbolift and heading back to the Starbase. He was excited to see what could be found out.
