Physical Description | One odd feature about Klingons like K’lar is that he can be so large and wide, yet somehow be lanky. He seems a little more fair and a little thinner than many Klingons. The warrior scientist at heart is still fairly tall and lean. He seems out of place in some of the tight spaces which make up certain science labs. Wide shoulders are pulled taught, partially because he is so large and partially because he is always self-conscious away from the potential of battle. This worry and self-doubt is often worn across his face when he’s focused on a task. If he thinks somebody is paying attention to him, looks of worry are often replaced with scowls. A rich, booming voice has a harsh raspiness on higher pitched syllables. K’lar has an accent which is difficult to pinpoint, yet is often recognized among similar Klingons. His facial features are very expressive. Sharp teeth are often revealed for wide, bug eyed grins and menacing growls alike. There’s still a look of warmth underneath it all. His frantic pace of walking and hurried task-minding suggests he’s heavily focused on his work… seemingly to the point of distraction. Red internal filaments dance almost iridescently off of his black irises. Deep brown hair frames tightly layered ridges of light mocha complexion. The pain of old injuries also seems to add to the tension of his expressions. It appears there are minor injuries in his shoulder and leg he refuses to get treated. One visit to sickbay would likely fix what appears to be a minor limp and tight shoulder. What he sees as a reminder of old battles may simply be a mark of his stubbornness. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview | His transition to working with humans has never been easy. He’s often seen as aggressive or moody. Only after time do many of his crew mates truly understand him. His attitudes are rarely personal. K’lar is aggressive towards life itself. As a warrior, even a simple scientific study can be a matter of life and death. This is contradictory to to the psyche of many Federation species. It’s essential to somebody raised to be a warrior, who feels he must still do his part in every task. He does well when others meet his zeal.
Strengths & Weaknesses | K’lar is constantly conflicted and anxious. Although he keeps focused on his work and manages to stay approachable, his concerns can affect his performance. He doubts himself more than many Klingons because of his career. He may sacrifice the better choice in order to prove his toughness. He’s still a strong person, physically and mentally. K’lar is far from a highly competitive Klingon martial artist. He still meditates and trains in the forms. His talent lacks compared to many Klingons in this aspect. Yet he is still physically tough and resilient. His bravery matches his intellect, with training to accompany both qualities. |
|
Ambitions | K’lar wants to make an impact on Klingon culture. His family has helped the Klingon Empire advance technologically by bringing more advanced scientific training to Klingons working in KDF engineering. His goals of helping Klingons fight disease and illness are becoming less controversial on the Klingon home world. The species is notoriously resilient. Some of K’lar’s work looks at how Klingon microorganisms can help the immune systems of other species. He’s figured out ways of helping more vulnerable species fight survival threatening diseases. K’lar is always on a quest to feel more Klingon. He tries to stay in touch with his culture. Above all, K’lar just wants to live as an honorable Klingon despite his ‘objectionable’ scientific career. |
|
Hobbies & Interests | K’lar keeps mementos from different places he’s traveled to. He takes notes on flora, fauna and sentient species he encounters. He is almost obsessed with keeping records of his travels. He wants his life’s work and interests to eventually culminate in a purpose. He constantly trains to be a better warrior-scientist. The Klingon tags along with tactical and operations training. He constantly takes new classes and studies as many topics as he can to broaden his knowledge. These hobbies often keep K’lar to himself. He still enjoys socializing with others. Fresh gagh and a good blood wine are a must. Klingon cuisine is seen as an important part of his culture in his mind. |

Personal History | K’lar started his career with the Klingon defense forces. He grew up following the path of the warrior. It started with training throughout his youth. His aunt had an influence on his upbringing, herself being somewhat of an infamous scientist on Qo’nos. She was an activist on the importance of science in Klingon culture. Grentala was a scientist responsible for training many of the engineers responsible for designing ships like the Negh’var class. She and her colleagues are largely responsible for the acceleration of Klingon technology seen in the times leading up to the era of the Enterprise-D. Her ability to explain and motivate Klingons into learning science by role of its relevance to vitality and combat changed the Klingon Empire.
Unfortunately for K’lar, he never felt accepted by his peers. They knew he studied science and was preparing to be one of the few Klingons who specialized in the field. He was quickly shunned by his peers.
K’lar feels more comfortable around Starfleet crew mates. They value him for his mind and his Klingon strength. He’s free from the judgement of other Klingons. K’lar does try to avoid other Klingons, especially in his Federation uniform. A temporary exchange post became a permanent transfer assignment. This was a complex process involving officials in both Starfleet and the KDF. K’lar always put his duty as a Klingon warrior first. He knew his methods and trainings in obscure Klingon science halls was unconventional for his people. It was clear to him that some of the things he learned would only help fortify his people. As he began working with the Federation, he worked with a team of xenobiologists who were very interested in a Klingon perspective on alien life forms. K’lar took his research and applied lessons to what he’d learned about Klingon biology. |

Simming History | I started on the USS Illustrious when she was still in BF Task Force 21. This was before the Obsidian Fleet split in 2001. I’ve been simming or RPing almost always since except for certain busy years. I’ve written many roles and have lately been using Trek RP books to boost my knowledge in fields like Engineering, Ops and Science.
