Captain Dow was enjoying his third cup of coffee while reading over a PADD with recent comm-traffic as he walked around Ops. It had been a long time since he was in command of the station, even on a temporary basis. Usually, as Kaleb IV's Starfleet Liaison Officer, he was Fleet Admiral Bremer's buffer between the civilian government and Starfleet Command. It would be a stressful and frustrating job, but it did give him ample time to go on archeological digs on the planet and learn more about the ancient people that lived there centuries before the Federation and Klingons would fight over its ownership in the 2250s and 2260s.

"Captain, I have a priority one transmission coming in from Starfleet Command." Command Rann reported from the Intel position. "According to this, the Typhon Pact has split up."

"Split up, like a band, like...like...oh what's the band Draven was listening to and said they broke up too soon?" Dow asked.

Rann shook his head. "The uh, Floyds. No, the Pink Bugs?" The Bolian asked.

"The Beatles and Pink Floyd." Archer replied from the Operations station.

"Why was Floyd pink? And why name a group after a pest?" Rann asked.

Dow laughed. "Draven told me about one band, the umm, round rocks? No, Rolling Stones. Pretty good music, but what a weird name."

Archer shook his head. Like Drave, he too liked old Earth music, mostly rock and roll from the 1960s to 1990s. "Crazy names, but here we are four hundred years later still talking about them and listening to their music."

Dow smirked and nodded. "True."

Dow walked over behind Rann and read over the official communication from Starfleet about the Typhon Pact's separation. Arguing among members over why the Federation/Klingon/Cardassian Alliance won the war had caused distrust. The Tholians were the first to withdraw, then the Breen, Kziniti, Tzenkethi, The Order, Miradorn, what was left of the Son'a, the Gorn, then finally the Krazzle leaving the Romulans alone.

In some ways, this was great news, there was no united front to oppose the Alliance. One the downside though, it might mean several smaller 'brush fires' around the Alpha and Beta Quadrants to deal with...and possibly and increase in Pirate activity in places like The Triangle.

"Send this to the Pegasus and Essex task forces." Dow ordered.

Rann nodded. "I've relayed it to all of our support ships currently away from the station."

Dow nodded as he walked back to the center of the room to look at the holographic display of all ships within Starbase 400's inner marker, then he expanded the view to show all ship traffic within the Kaleb system.
