ON:

Rol watched as the hologram of Harris fizzed into existence "Hello Carolyn! You're probably in sickbay and I've asked Rol to give this to you. Happy Anniversary! Today is the anniversary of the day I saw you and you put me in my place and stole my heart." He laughed.

Anniversary... as the hologram spoke, a frown of confusion transformed into a small smile and she laughed even as some tears stung her eyes. Her proper shift in Sickbay, the day after she arrived on the station and she had argued with him. A patient required surgery and she had argued that she should take the lead in surgery.

"That's the day I knew, you see. I knew that we'd marry and look at us! Baby on the way. In case I don't tell you every day that I love you, this message gives you permission to whack me upside the head."

Rol snickered a little but was also filled with sadness for his friend and her loss.

“I wish I could,” Carolyn whispered, wiping at her eyes as she took a deep breath, trying to find some calm. Some control.

Rol reached over and took her hand.

"I can't wait to meet our baby. I hope that she or he takes after you completely. In case I don't tell you enough you've enriched my life.'

How ironic. She wished the opposite. She wanted their daughter to have his eyes, his kind heart, his bravery and spirit. "You saved mine," she answered softly. In just about any way possible.

He smiled. "I'll see you tonight and I'm cooking! don't forget to take an antacid...i'm not that good."

She laughed at his attempt at a joke but it was swallowed up by agony and tears. This... this is what could have been. “I can’t watch this -“

Rol shut down the program. He sat down next to her and held her hand. "Are you alright?"

"None of this is alright," she breathed, shaking her head. "Every time he even thought about the baby, he just lit up like the sun. You could just see it in his face, his eyes... it is too cruel that it was stolen from him. And her. And I have no idea what Hades is planning."

He sighed and put his arm around her. "But he lives on in your child. In your heart. You said it. The baby was important to him it gave him sunshine and a renewed life. Your daughter I a part of him and he will live on in her." sighed. "I just wish he hadn't given me so many messages for you. It keeps reopening the wounds."

"Oh..." Carolyn was silent for a long time before she peered up at him. "How many are we talking here?"

"About ten." He said.
