Mission:
Episode 109 - The Dust Settles
Location: Starbase 400, various locations
Timeline: MD02 1000 hrs
Dustin Reynolds had made it back onto the station. He would have preferred to be walking onto the station with Aubrey Miller. His sort of girlfriend. They had been seeing each other for a while now. But he was still unclear, what their official status was.
Dustin noticed that Sam Carrington, the Helmsman of the Falcon, was by his side. "You did a good job, on that mission." Dustin said, as he reached out to chat with Sam.
"Thanks man, I think the enemy deserves all the credit." Sam said in a teasing voice. "They made it so easy after all. Hard to believe they were that incompetent." Sam said.
"It is bound to happen, when we become to complacent with the way things are, we sometimes forget that we should be on a game. Especially when it comes to duty." Dustin pointed out.
"They were incompetent to say the least, thinking we would not strike back. Boy, where they wrong. We hit them hard and fast, didn’t we?" Sam said, with a grin on his face.
"I think we should remember this moment. This is what happens, when you let your guard down." Dustin pointed out, and then thinking back to when they lost the station.
Did they drop their guard then too? The more he thought about, the more he came to the conculsion they did not. They stood their ground, but were over run. They were not caught, with their pants down.
"I know I will, and I hope their won’t be a next time. I am hopeful after this defeat, maybe the enemy will surrender?" Sam said, with a big grin on his face.
The Falcon was a day behind the main fleet coming back to the Station. It felt good to be home again on Starbase 400. As Dustin looked around, he noticed somethings that were minor damaged, but could be prepared. Overall, the station was in one piece. And they were now in control over the station.
"I hope so. I am eager to get back to a sense of normalcy." Dustin pointed out. He wanted to go on another date with Aubrey.
"I hear ya, and feel the same way. First though, I have a feeling we will be debriefed first." Sam pointed out to Dustin.
"No doubt at all about that one. But hopefully that wont take long. I want to take Aubrey out to dinner tonight." Dustin said, with a big grin on his face.
"You two are starting to get serious I notice, is she the one?" Sam asked, from a point of curosity.
"Yes she is." Dustin said, with a warm smile on his face. He truely believed that she was the one for him.
"That's awesome, and for the record. You both make a cute a couple." Sam said, with a big smile on his face.
"You and the XO make a good pair too, you know." Dustin pointed out to him.
"Thanks man, I am one lucky man." Sam simply said, with a big grin on his face too. Sam said, as the scene starts to fade away.
