Mission: Episode 109 - The Dust Settles
Location: Chief Science Officer's Office
Timeline: MD2, 1130 HRS

ON:

Commander Nicholas Coleman had been in his office for several hours now after getting an update from the team he had formed from several departments. He let Lieutenant Plumeri head it, since he was an enthusiastic and upcoming young man. Coleman remembered when he used to be so young and full of vigor himself. But, that was a long time ago and he just let a small smile crease his aging face.

The chime on his office door chimed and he said, "Enter." The door slid open and his brother Jonathan walked into the office he had once occupied, looking around.

"You've made a lot of updates to the place. It looks good older brother," Jonathan said before taking a seat across from his dear brother. He was holding a PADD that was one of the newest editions from Starfleet and the SCE.

"Yeah, I couldn't have it looking the way you did all those years ago. How long ago was it that you were the Chief Science Officer again?" Nick said, trying to tease his younger brother, even though he held a higher rank then himself. He knew he could get in trouble if he pushed too hard, but their mother wouldn't have any of that nonsense.

Jonathan glared at his brother before handing the PADD over the table. As Jonathan was handing over the PADD, he said, "So mean for someone who has some good news for you. They're getting the newest Athena-Class USS Endeavor-A ready for you at San Francisco Fleet Yards."

"Why'd they move it from Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards?" Nick asked, looking over the data and transfer orders from the San Francisco Fleet Yards. They were working out some kinks on the new engines and computer core they had installed weeks prior. They were having some issues with the intermix ratio being stable for the type and size of ship that the Athena-Class was.

Jonathan just took in a sigh and replied, "Utopia isn't fully up to specs yet. They are still having some issues with the manpower after everything that happened a decade ago. Since we can't use synths anymore and we lost some good men and women that day, we've been trying to recruit more people to help out. But, it has been hard and that's why they've been pulling the Corp of Engineers and Research and Development to help build the actual starships. Dr. Brahms isn't happy, but she's helping out. because Geordi asked her."

Nick nodded slightly. He wasn't happy that the Endeavor was going to be delayed a bit longer, but he didn't want to get a ship that wasn't ready. He remembered hearing about the Defiant and all of her issues when she was launched in the early 2370's. But, he also wanted his new ship. He knew that his brother would be the one pushing for her launch as soon as possible.

"Any timeline on her launch or when the Starbase will get her? I know we've gotten information about the First Federation we've got to figure out. Any way we'll be able to get her before the end of the mission or is it a no go?" Nick asked as he handed the PADD back to his own brother.

Jonathan took the PADD back and just shook his own head. "Not unless you want to have a warp-core breach or the computer core to explode, no. We're working on her and we're trying to get her out here as soon as we can. We'll let you know when she's ready and I promise you, I'll personally make sure I hand her off to you. Okay?" Jonathan said, smiling as he got up. He said, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some work on the Station to do. Ensign McWire and I have some work to do on figuring out what to do with this little Tholian crystal and all of its data. I just wanted to give you an update before showering and working on that."

Nick smiled and thanked his brother. They parted ways and Jonathan left to complete his work with Percy from Engineering. That left Nick to his own thoughts again, but he had something to look forward to now. While the new Endeavor would take a bit longer, he knew Starfleet would pull through and get him his new ship. Now, onto the First Federation and the Tholians. Those pesky Tholians.
